Johnnie

He’d take her for a drive—straight to their charter flight. On the way there, he’d shoot her up and sedate her. The next couple of days would be busy for him. He’d have to get all their luggage, especially her medicines, to his contact, so it would be on the plane when they boarded.

“Bring me a beer, Potter,” he called, nodding to a few of his friends as he passed the bar and headed to the table. He glanced around, searching for signs of Megan, or any of the women, but only seeing club girls.

Mortician growled, hatred blazing in his eyes.

“Where the fuck you been?” Christopher demanded.

“A personal trip. The same kind my lovely wife took.”

Val shook his head. “You need to stop competing with the woman, fuckhead. You breaking Kendall, Johnnie, and that’s not fucking cool.”

“Breaking her? Breaking her?” Johnnie laughed bitterly, then tipped his bottle to Easton.

“That motherfucker’s here because of her cozying up to Bash.

Without that, he wouldn’t have asked Christopher to roll him over.

Kendall ignored my every plea to help me, so how the fuck am I breaking her when she’s been a first-class cunt to me? ”

“Kendall too good for your motherfucking ass, son,” Mortician said as if he had a right.

“And Bailey’s leagues better than you, so what’s your fucking point?” Johnnie demanded, glancing around once more. “Again, where is sweet little Megan?”

“Listen up, Johnnie. I don’t know what the fuck possessin’ you but I’m so fuckin’ tired of you,” Christopher started. “I’m tired of warnin’ you. I’m fuckin’ tired of acknowledgin’ you. I ain’t too fuckin’ sure why the fuck Kendall even fuckin’ stay with you.”

“To save his fucking life, Uncle Christopher,” Diesel said in that bland tone that pissed Johnnie the fuck off.

Slamming his bottle on the table, Johnnie curled his lip at Diesel.

“Hey, Roxy,” someone called before anyone flung out meaningless threats.

“Hey, sugar,” Roxanne responded, her voice close. “I thought I saw Johnnie’s Navigator in front of me. I wasn’t sure though. Glad to see I was right.”

Knox beamed in her direction, until wariness replaced his smile.

“Fuck, man,” Mortician said.

Christopher’s eyes widened.

That should’ve clued Johnnie in, but he feared turning and facing the formidable woman.

If he had, he might’ve expected the hit to his head, quickly followed by one that toppled him off the chair.

She kicked him in the ass, then leaned over and rained blow after blow on his back, buttocks, and legs, until he had the presence of mind to dart away.

“Motherfucker, I’m not finished with you.”

Like the last time, the only refuge Johnnie had was under a fucking table. “What did I do?”

“What did you do? What the fuck did you do? Motherfucker, stand up and tell me how the fuck you can live with yourself after your bullshit finally sent Bailey over the edge. She’s in rehab, across the fucking country because you’re a motherfucker.”

What? “WHAT?” he said, speaking the one word bouncing in his head.

“And what about Kendall? You’re fucking destroying her. She drank herself into fucking oblivion and couldn’t make it home, so she curled up under a fucking tree.” Roxanne heaved in a sobby breath. “You get the fuck out here and face your punishment, motherfucker.”

“I have to talk to Kendall,” Johnnie said, afraid to move and in so much pain he wanted to cry.

“Fuck you. Between you and Rory, Kendall is devastated. Both you motherfuckers have talked enough.” Roxanne kicked blindly, her riding boot connecting with his thigh. “Your disrespect breeds his, so Mr. Smug Fuckhead Little Logan Motherfucker, I hope you’re fucking happy with yourself.”

Taking his handkerchief from his breast pocket, Johnnie stuck his hand out and dangled it, symbolizing surrender. Instead, she used her baton to hit the back of his hand.

“Ouch! I’m sorry—”

“Forked tongue, motherfucker, get thee behind me,” she snarled.

“You’re not sorry. Even when you say it, you don’t fucking mean it.

You say it while you thinking of more shit to do.

I had a hard time forgiving you with the way you fucked with Meggie, but, motherfucker, I think you’re nothing but a piece of shit for what you did to my daughter and your wife.

” She kicked again and hit his chest. “Bailey’s gone and Kendall’s filing for divorce sooner rather than later, so fuck you. ”

Johnnie should’ve expected the news because of that phone call. But his worse nightmare flared to life. He wouldn’t survive losing Kendall. She gave him meaning and filled his dark world with joy. What had he been thinking? How could he have allowed things to progress so far?

“Yeah, motherfucker, Kendall’s leaving and Bailey’s gone.

You did this,” Roxanne said, her voice trembling.

“Carissa and Alexia had their grandma and our other relatives. My Bailey was here all alone. She wasn’t used to club life, so I came to help her and to be here for her.

Why couldn’t you leave her alone, Johnnie?

She was going through enough. As for Kendall, I never got the image of finding her near death out of my mind.

She almost took her own life because of you.

You’ve forgotten, but I haven’t. How could you push her to the point where she doesn’t want to be with us any longer? ”

Not caring if she hit him again, Johnnie crawled from under the table, his mind running in all directions, touching upon Bailey, but landing on Kendall leaving.

“I have to talk to her.”

“No, you have to stay the fuck away from her,” Roxanne shouted, tears streaming down her cheeks. “You couldn’t even stay home and be man enough to take care of your children.”

“Kendall left without warning!”

“Boohoohoo,” she snapped, a firecracker even when teary. “Maybe the child needed a fucking break.”

Shame replaced the bitterness and hatred that had lived inside him for months.

“She worked hard to win Outlaw’s approval and you couldn’t even be happy for her when she finally did. She wants to call him by his name, but she decided to call him Outlaw again because of you.”

“I’m sorry; I’m sorry; I’m sorry,” he chanted.

“Fuck you, motherfucker.”

“I need to talk to my wife.”

“You need a heart too, but we don’t always get our needs met,” Roxanne said. “Kendall’s gone to a hotel tonight. She’s moving away from the club tomorrow.”

Her reveal left everyone stunned, Johnnie most of all. Kendall was already gone? She’d went to a hotel? That mean she’d gone to Portland. Hortensia only had motels.

In Portland, she could lose herself and put herself out of Johnnie’s reach, leaving him without the ability to initiate his plans.

With one last hateful look, Roxy stormed out of the club, the sounds of her devastation reflecting how he felt.
