Chapter 5 The Agreement In Print
The moment I saw Shen Qian again, my eyes went red.
She looked at my red rims and immediately turned to tear into Chen Nan. "Did you make our Shi Shi unhappy again? I am telling you, Chen Nan, if you dare treat Shi Shi badly, I am her closest friend, and I will never let you go."
Chen Nan had always seemed terrified of Shen Qian.
Her temper ran hot, and the huge Shen family stood behind her. If he offended her, I knew his thing with Qiao Xin might not stay hidden.
He shook all over and denied it again and again. "How could I? I cannot even love her enough. Why would I bully her?"
Then he kept shooting looks at me.
For now I could not rip the mask off with him, so I wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes and said to Shen Qian, "Shen Qian, you misunderstood. Him? Would he dare bully me?"
Shen Qian's face was full of doubt.
"Then why did you cry?"
I smiled. "It has been too long. I missed you."
Shen Qian looked even more puzzled. "Did we not just eat together a few days ago?"
I was afraid she would keep asking and I would slip in front of Chen Nan, so I cut her off. "One day apart feels like three autumns, does it not? You heartless thing. Do you have another close friend now?"
She denied it, looking firm.
"Impossible. You are my only close friend."
Of course I believed her.
We had known each other for more than ten years. The first time her period stained her pants, I took off my school uniform jacket to cover her, and she had protected me ever since.
Thinking of that, I wanted to cry again.
Chen Nan watched us chatting and looked like he could not sit still. He urged me, "Wife, did you not say we were going to sign a Marital Agreement?"
At that, Shen Qian looked at me, confused. "A Marital Agreement?"
For now I could not tell Shen Qian that Chen Nan wanted Father-in-Law to do Seed Borrowing. She would definitely stop me from taking the risk.
So I lied to her.
"Mm. We came because we want you to draft a Marital Agreement about property. It should state that if Chen Nan wrongs me in the marriage later, he has to Leave With Nothing."
I was not the type to do something like this for no reason.
I knew Shen Qian understood me too well.
She had seen how lovesick I was over Chen Nan.
For me to ask for this agreement now, something had to look off.
But in front of Chen Nan, she did not press. She sat down at the computer, wrote the agreement to my requirements, printed two copies, and told Chen Nan and me to sign.
Chen Nan took the agreement and immediately wiped his glasses before reading it line by line.
Watching him, I only felt a sour ache in my chest.
