Chapter 8 Who Are You Seducing
When Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law arrived, I had just finished getting the dishes ready.
They came in with the spare key Chen Nan had given them before. I took off my apron and called them over to eat.
Father-in-Law sat across from me and stared at me the whole time.
Mother-in-Law glared at me, unhappy. "You finish cooking and do not even change? Dressed like that, who are you trying to seduce?"
I looked down at myself.
What I was wearing was perfectly proper.
I figured Chen Nan had already told them about having Father-in-Law do the Seed Borrowing. Mother-in-Law looked like she was holding in her anger. For the Chen family's descendants she could only nod along, so she wanted to take it out on me.
But in my last life, she had been the one to kneel, feed me medicine, and force me to accept Seed Borrowing.
This time I had brought it up myself, and she was not willing.
"Mother-in-Law, how can you say that about me?" I lowered my head, looking wronged, and pretended to wipe my tears.
Sure enough, Father-in-Law spoke up for me.
"Shi Shi worked hard to cook for us. What is wrong with what she is wearing? Fine if you are not grateful, but you still pick a fight on purpose. If you do not want to eat, then do not eat!"
Mother-in-Law had obeyed Father-in-Law her whole life.
Now that she had been scolded, she could only swallow it and eat, unwilling.
I kept watching her and Father-in-Law, and only relaxed once I made sure they had both eaten their fill.
