Epilogue

Croy

“Are you ready to leave tomorrow?” Henry asked curiously, sitting on the balcony of our hotel penthouse with me, sharing a bottle of whiskey I’d bought down at the bar. I knew I was going to need it considering the thoughts I had milling through my head. Far more confusing and chaotic than normal.

The ocean breeze was comfortable with my tux jacket slung over the back of my seat, the night air surrounding me.

Maya’s laugh came from inside through the open french doors.

I knew her and the twins were watching some movie and frankly, I was just glad to have been able to leave that event sooner than expected.

None of us did very well with her being introduced to other flights, although to be fair, none of them were disrespectful.

They either didn’t react at all or looked terrified of her because of Marco and the rest of the flight. Honestly, it was fascinating to watch.

Not as fascinating as watching the flight’s crest melt into her fucking arm though. I wrenched a hand through my hair knowing that this could only mean a few things, and each was more complicated than the rest.

“Yeah,” I muttered, “I know Marco mentioned her needing to see a doctor but it is so much more than that. Henry, that shouldn’t have happened.”

Henry inhaled, “I know.”

I knew tomorrow was going to breed an interesting situation, to say the least. I was by far strong enough to hold my own in a fight with most dragons but I didn’t want to have to be like that.

I just didn’t trust that others in the dragon realm would feel the same.

I’d never heard many good redeeming qualities about the Dreki realm, so to say I was cautious was an understatement.

Still, Marco was right, she did need to see a doctor, because of the mating aspect but also her random fever spikes.

Sure, she hadn’t had one since she shifted…

but there were just too many things about Maya that worried me so this was a good idea.

Then there was the aspect of what her powers and the way she shifted meant.

I knew how special Maya was but I had a feeling this was larger than that.

“Croy!” Maya spun out slightly on the balcony, her gown still on but her hair was up in a messy bun and her shoes off, looking far more relaxed. “Henry! Both of you need to come inside and watch this movie with us.”

“What movie?” Henry asked, looking amused at her attitude.

“I don’t know the name!” She ran back inside and I heard her laugh as one of the twins planted her ass back on the couch.

Without even having to discuss it, both of us stood and went inside. If Maya asked for anything, it was hers. No really, anything she wanted. So a movie was very much reasonable.

I had always thought Maya was possibly the most precious and unique woman I’d ever come across, for so many reasons besides her being my mate.

But these new developments had a thought running rampant in my head and I had no idea how to proceed.

I suppose going to the Dreki realm was a damn good start.

Which was good, because I had a feeling our little mate was more special than we could have ever realized.
