Nova
I yanked at the cuffs until the metal cut my skin, but I couldn’t care less.
My heartbeat thundered in my ears and tears burned my eyes but didn’t fall.
I refused to cry in front of him. I wouldn’t dare give Kyle the pleasure of knowing how much he scared me.
He stalked closer, slowly, and deliberately until he was next to me.
He stood in the dim light coming from the open door behind him, smiling like we were lovers meeting in secret.
I curled away from him as far as my restraints allowed.
“Welcome home.” He said coming even closer before kneeling down level with me.
He eyed me like he was savoring the fearful expression on my face.
“You’re shaking. That’s not good. Let me help.” He cooed, reaching out for me.
I recoiled from his touch, spitting in his face as I went.
The sudden splash of saliva on his skin startled him and I watched it run down his cheek, waiting to see how he would retaliate but he did nothing.
Instead of lashing out like I thought he merely wiped his face calmly, before flicking the saliva to the floor with a laugh.
“You know,” he said, his voice even. “I told you it would end like this. You’re mine. You always were. Now be a good bitch and behave before I make your punishment worse than it already will be,” he said smirking.
I knew he wanted a response, but I wouldn’t dare give him what he wanted. Instead, I stared at him like the lunatic he was.
“Timberly is fine, by the way. For now, but that depends on you.” He continued his one-sided conversation.
At those words the ice in my veins turned to fire.
“Don’t you fucking touch her…” I screamed, trying to claw at him.
His eyes hardened but his smile didn’t waver.
“Careful, Nova. She’s a beautiful little bargaining chip. Don’t make me use her.” He chided.
I fell silent, chest heaving as I thought of all the ways I want to make his ass suffer. I can’t believe I ever loved this man. As if he finally got the response he wanted, he patted my cheek, then stood.
“Get some rest. We’ll talk more soon. About our future.” He said before leaving, slamming the door as he went.
And in the dark, I finally let the tears come until I was too exhausted to do anything but pass out. But the sadistic smile on Kyle’s face haunted my dreams.
“Good morning, Darling. We’ve got so much to catch up on.” He said, looking at me like a predator ready to devour his prey.
This time I would try a different tactic instead of challenging him. I would try anything to keep my daughter safe.
“Please Kyle, let me go.” I pleaded, even though I knew he wouldn’t listen.
“Why the fuck would I let my future wife and mother of my child go? Nova. Hhm, why would I let you make a fool of me again? He hissed.
“I’m sorry Kyle.” I cried.
“Not yet, but you will be.” He cackled.
“Fuck you, Kyle.” I screamed, it was obvious that he wasn’t going to let me go and I had no desire to kiss his ass.
“Careful. You’re in no position to talk tough.
” Kyle said, leaning closer. “It would be in your best interest to be nice and cooperate. The sooner you realize the only way out of this room is, as my wife, the sooner we can go and get our daughter and be on our way. You’ve had enough time to come to terms with your new life.
But that’s enough about you and me. The most important person in this scenario is my daughter. ” He smiled.
“You won’t touch my daughter.” I growled.
“Oh, Nova. I don’t think you understand. I don’t really need you. I want you. I plan on inflicting all my deepest darkest desires on you, but I don’t need you. You’re just leverage.”
“Leverage for what?” I asked, confused and wary.
“My father made a deal. Timberly marries his partner’s son when she’s old enough. Without her, they’ll burn us alive and take everything. All I need to do is deliver her.” Kyle said calmly like what he said was alright.
“She’s a child. Your child. How could you sell your daughter?” I gasped, clutching my stomach absentmindedly.
“Business is business.” He shrugged, watching me intently. “I’m not selling her. I’m giving her an opportunity of a lifetime. The family that wants her is worth billions and they have power and prestige. What more could she ask for. And besides, she won’t be married until she comes of age.”
“But they’ll still own her.” I screamed. “No one is taking my daughter. I’ll kill you myself before I let you take her from me. I’ll fucking kill you.” I growled and lunged at him weakly.
“Oh? That’s new. Is it his?” He asked, glancing at the hand on my belly with a wicked smile.
“More leverage.” He said with a gleam in his eye.
“You’re going to beg him to trade Timberly for you.
Or you’ll watch me carve that thing out of you.
” I seethed, grabbing me by my hair, and forcing me to look at him as he spoke.
“Crew will kill you. He’ll kill everyone you love.” I sobbed, rage building as I looked eyes with him.
“He’d better hurry. The clock’s ticking. Let's see how you feel after a few days with no food.” He smiled, walking to the door and slamming it behind him.
I lost count of the hours I had been locked in this room.
Kyle had left without a word after threatening me to help him get Timberly.
Leaving me alone with my thoughts and hunger until he decided I had learned my lesson.
When I woke up, I found a small bottle of water next to me but no food.
My arms were cramped, and my back was aching from being cuffed so long.
I smelled of sweat and the piss that had saturated my pants since Kyle nor his men hadn’t let me out to pee.
At this point I wasn’t even embarrassed.
All I could do was pray for a shower soon.
I stretched trying to ease the discomfort in my body but couldn’t find a comfortable position.
My chest was tight, and I could hear my heart thumping in my ears as I tried to calm myself.
I wanted to scream for Kyle to let me out.
I wanted to give in and tell him that he’d won.
But I’d never been a quitter and I’d be damned if I started now.
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths and thought about Timberly and Crew whispering their names like prayers in my head.
Recalling every detail of their faces and letting the love I have for them resonate within me.
It was all I had to keep from losing my mind until Crew came for me.
“Well, well. Look at you. Not so high and mighty now, huh?” She laughed.
“Fuck you, Kennedy.” I said, opening my eyes and glowering at her in the light.
“Oh, you’re still feisty. That’s cute. Thought you’d be crying for Crew to come save you.” She said, smirking as she circled me.
“He will come. And he’ll bury every last one of you.” I said.
“God, you really believe that. He can’t even find you. He doesn’t even know if you’re alive or dead. Bet he’s already moving on, though he did have shit taste picking you over me,” Kennedy laughed coldly.
“He doesn’t even remember you.” I snort. This bitch is crazy.
“Shut your mouth.” She hissed, voice dropping to a deadly tone.
“You were nothing, but a sloppy one-night stand he couldn’t pick out of a lineup.” I grinned, laughing through my pain.
“I said shut up!” Kennedy screamed, rage building.
“You’re pathetic,” I laughed again. She really thought she had a chance with my husband.
From what he said they hadn’t even fucked.
She just sucked his dick. I can only imagine how she would have acted if she had got fucked.
Crew and I may not have married for love, but I’d be damned if I let her think she had a chance with my man.
“Bitch!” She yelled, slapping me hard across the face. My head snapped to the side as blood seeped from my split lip. I turned back slowly, eyes burning, and deliberately before spitting the blood right in Kennedy’s face. “That all you got?” I laughed, blood coating my teeth.
“I’m gonna kill you bitch!” She screamed.
Kennedy lunged for me, clawing at my hair and face. I tried to fight back even with my hands tied, snarling. One of Kyle’s men, big and mean, rushed in and yanked Kennedy off me.
“Enough! Ms. Harris. You can’t hurt her.” He huffed.
“Let me fucking go!” She yelled, thrashing, and placing a well-placed kick to my back as she tried to get to me again.
“Kyle said she needs to stay alive. You want him pissed?”
“Fine. Keep her breathing. But don’t think for a second she’s getting out of this alive when this is all said and done.” She hissed, breathing hard and glaring at me.
She wiped my blood off her face, smearing it across her cheek like war paint. She leaned in as close as she could before hissing.
“You know what’s funny? Crew will lose everything because of you. Including his precious little daughter. He chose you over me and now he’ll pay for it.” She smiled.
“You’re fucking delusional.” I said
“Maybe. But you’ll be dead, and I’ll be the last thing he sees before he breaks.” She smiled with unhinged joy. Kennedy straightened to her full height, looking satisfied with the fear she hoped she'd spread. The man guided her toward the door.
“Time’s up.” He groaned.
Pausing at the door Kennedy looked back at me before she smiled and said, “Don’t go dying on me yet, Nova. I want you awake when everything you love burns.” She giggled.
Her crazed laughter fading once the door slammed shut behind them, leaving me breathing heavily in pain, lip bleeding, and fear taking hold of me.
