13. Crew #2

“Same shit, I said. My nose can’t handle this shit.” Black grumbled, moving further from Blue and Sabrina.

“This shit bout to be in my skin.” Blue said and as I looked closer, I saw that he had a glove on the hand that was holding Sabrina.

“Really nigga.” I said pointing at his hand.

“Damn right she look like she got the impetigo.” He said looking at her dry skin in disgust.

“Nigga, the what? I asked, trying to be serious, you would think there wasn’t an army standing on the other side of this gate that wanted to kill us. “She ain’t a toddler, what grown ass person gets impetigo?”

“It don’t matter. The sooner we get this bitch over the gate the sooner I can breathe fresh air.” He said with his face scrunched up.

“Creeew please. You don’t have to do this. We can still be together.” She said looking at me through puffy eyes, her face red and angry around the buck fifty that Nova had given her.

“Your death is the only thing you can give me. Did you forget I grieved you already. You are nothing but a ghost to me.” I said, with a look of disgust. I couldn’t believe that I once wanted to marry this woman. But like they said, players fucked up too.

The gate loomed ahead of us as a beacon of safety and protection from the army outside.

Its height and size drowned out the sound of the vehicles and mercenaries.

I took the metal steps two at a time followed closely by the twins to the lookout post at the very top of the steel wall.

We had plenty of cover from this position, allowing me to negotiate without the fear of being taken out by one of the snipers that I’m sure Valdez brought with him.

Too bad for him we had a high ground advantage.

The position of the compound made it impossible for Valdez to position themselves above us on the mountain.

Right before I used the bullhorn to speak to Valdez, his ex-wife grabbed my arm.

“Please, don’t give my son to him. I’ll go if you need me too, but please keep my son safe.

I told you Edmond only cares about what EJ can do for him.

Why do you think we live in a different city than he does?

I don’t want my son to become like his father.

I’ll do anything. Please. I know you heard what I told you before. ” She said.

When I looked at the hand that she was holding my arm with she flinched back and dropped her hand.

I stared at her for a beat longer before nodding.

I dropped my gaze from hers and picked up the bullhorn.

It was too late to take this out-of-control train off the track, now that it was in motion.

The doctor was crying, while Del and Pops stood strong and stoic even in the face of possible death like they had already accepted their fate.

And after what they saw happened to Janelle it just might be.

“Let’s make a deal.” I said into the bullhorn.

“Ah, Mr. Sanderson. So nice to finally meet you. And I see you brought my wife and associate with you.” He said in his thick slimy accent.

I noticed he called Sabrina an associate, I guess she wasn’t as important to him as she thought. The ex-wife rolled her eyes at his antics while Sabrina slumped towards the edge of the wall like Valdez would save her.

“Is this how you treat your guests Mr. Sanderson. But I guess I did kill one of your little friends. So, an eye for an eye I suppose. A deal then, you give me my people and I’ll give you yours.” He said waving his hand towards the men with the guns.

Their weapons lowered and they stepped back towards Valdez but still not in range for my shooters. I looked at the ex-wife trying to pose the unspoken question in my eyes and when she nodded, I shifted my gaze to the men at the bottom of the steps.

“Take them through the sally port but not before our people are inside first.” I said, speaking as low as I could.

“Send my people through the door to your left once they are inside, I will do the same with yours. The door will remain locked until everyone is inside and safe. Once they reach the opposite door, only then will we unlock them. If you or your men try anything your son will die. Are we clear?” I commanded.

“Agreed. But what about my son?” He asked.

“When we exchange our people and they are safe on either side, you and your men will leave. Then I will send your son down the mountain safe and sound, but if you do anything other than what I say. You will never see your son again.”

He didn't respond, but he did signal to his men to back further from the gate, leaving one-armed merc to lead our people to the entrance. Once they were there, he returned to his original position at his boss’s side.

We watched from the top of the wall as both sets of hostages entered the steel doors and crossed the short walkway.

There was a pause after they reached the doors and then with a loud clank as the locks disengaged, opening the doors.

The men on our side snatched our people up and escorted them to the safehouse, while we watched the action down below.

While the wife held back, Sabrina ran as fast as her bare feet could take her.

“Edmond, I knew you would come.” She screamed, the doors locked immediately behind them.

“Stop.” Valdez yelled at Sabrina, making her halt her quick steps, stumbling and falling to her knees in front of him.

When his gaze locked on his wife, she trembled slightly but continued to walk towards him.

He opened his arms, allowing her to walk into them before hugging her and whispering into her ear.

He held her for a moment and gently pushed her to a merc who helped her into the backseat of the hummer.

Her gaze caught mine before the door closed behind her.

As soon as the door was closed, it was like he remembered that Sabrina was at his feet.

“Sabrina, Sabrina, Sabrina. What am I going to do with you?” He asked, gun still in his hand.

“Edmond, please look at me. They tried to kill me. I need a doctor.” She cried.

A minute ago, she was still on my dick and now she was crying for him to save her. This bitch was unreal.

“I couldn’t even sell you cheap to one of my brothels overseas with that hideous slash across your face. I should have let them keep you but therein lies my problem. You are a fucking snitch, and I can’t suffer a snitch to live.”

“Please Edmond. I had to. Look at what they did to my face. They were going to kill me.” She begged.

“What the fuck do you think I’m going to do to you bitch. You gave up my son’s location. A number of accounts that you had access to have been drained. Do you think I’m going to throw you a fucking party?” He asked as he moved closer to her with his gun.

“I-I’m sor…”

Before the words were out of her mouth Valdez had put a bullet through her left eye. From the look on her face, she didn’t even see it coming.

“What a waste.” He said and then holstered his weapon and spit on her dead body.

“I guess she wasn’t as special as she thought.” Black said.
