Chapter 2 #2

"The genuine article." His eyes and voice carried admiration. "This is how you should be. If I weren't so inexperienced, you'd be even more perfect."

"Inexperienced?" I turned to face him, confused.

"They're a bit bigger than I estimated." His hand didn't touch me, just gestured lightly on either side of my chest. "You've been burying your gorgeous body."

His eyes shone unusually bright. Heat spread from my lower abdomen to every corner of my body. So when he sat on the couch sizing me up earlier, he'd been measuring me from a distance?

As I stood dazed, our bodies pressed together. My chest against his, hearts beating in unison. I should've stepped back, maintained a safe distance, because this would destroy me.

But I didn't want to move. I wanted to get even closer.

But no... why not?

Chloe got to screw around with Makar. Why couldn't I do something with this man? Why should I be the only fool getting played, clinging to ridiculous morals and restraint?

"You're so charming when you say things like that, Varlam." I stood on tiptoe, reaching for his temple. "Hasn't anyone told you it's criminal to flirt with that face?"

His silver-gray hair felt softer than I'd imagined. Nothing like the man himself. Then my hand moved to his nose, his sharp bone pressing into my palm.

"Briony Cox." He caught my descending hand. "Hope you're prepared for what you're saying."

With that, he yanked me hard into his arms.

"You like it, don't you?" I said.

His kiss crashed down instantly. I had no defense—his tongue pried open my teeth, tangling with mine. My whole body tensed, already soaking wet below.

His hand traveled down, gripping my breast. Tingling sensations shot through me, even my toes clenching the floor.

"I should've known these tits would be this fucking soft!" Varlam growled.

His lips left mine for an instant, then returned. He swallowed the saliva I couldn't manage. He guided me backward until my calves hit the soft leather couch.

I lay back following his movement, watching him kiss me while his fingers pinched my nipple through the dress. My thighs twisted involuntarily. Only when I was nearly suffocating did he finally stop the kiss.

He pressed down on me, fingers stroking my swollen lips, then entering my mouth. I sucked on his knuckle, watching his gaze move between my face and body, full of desire and greed.

He kissed down again, hand lifting my skirt, pushing aside my panties, sliding into my already wet center. His rough touch invaded my body, making me arch.

"You're so tight, sweetheart." His breathing grew heavier.

God, I felt like I could come just from his fingers!

My brain flashed with even hotter images. Him unbuckling his belt, that massive thing pushing inside me—though I hadn't met his cock yet. Him sucking my nipple, kneading my breast, thrusting inside me...

"Anyone in there? The wedding's over." A voice suddenly called from outside.

Varlam's expression turned displeased. He clearly didn't want to deal with it, continuing to rub my clit.

But the person outside persisted, knocking urgently. The loud voice combined with the knocking killed any arousal.

My rationality gradually returned. Same with Varlam. His movement stopped, then he got up, opened the door, and dismissed the person. The man kept apologizing fearfully as he left.

The instant Varlam stood, I sat up, breathing heavily. Then my brain experienced an unprecedented storm.

What had I just been doing? Was I insane?

I must've been insane! How else could I have almost slept with a man I just met? A man who was also my ex-boyfriend's brother! I pinched my thigh hard with my fingertip. The pain sobered me considerably.

When Varlam came back, I'd already straightened my disheveled clothes.

"Since the wedding's over, I should go." I stood, tugging at the hem, as if that could hide my awkwardness.

"Any plans?" His voice still carried that low rasp from earlier.

"Nothing much. My job today was completing this wedding." I avoided his burning gaze, shrugging. "Who thinks about going back to the office after work ends?"

"So you planned this wedding?" For the first time, I saw something like surprise on his face.

"Yes. This should've been the happiest day. If all that awful stuff hadn't happened."

He didn't follow up with commentary or comfort, but moved a step closer. His scent filled my surroundings again.

"Want to get a drink? I know a great bar."

"Asking me out for drinks requires a reason, doesn't it?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

That face was criminally handsome from every angle. Looking up at him, his features appeared even sharper, his jawline more defined. That sexy tan skin struck my weakest point.

"Does it?"

"Of course."

"Consider it... me wanting to provide some comfort for your terrible day."

My throat seized. I hadn't expected him to say that. He watched me, his gaze like a fine, warm net. I knew I couldn't refuse.

But did he know about my relationship with Makar? He'd never mentioned it.

Almost sleeping with my ex's brother already exceeded my expectations. But even having derailed, I couldn't stop myself from moving closer to that dangerous unknown territory.
