Chapter 5
VASIAH
We wrapped up our picnic, and she had me trail her to this spot I’d never been to, called The Palace.
I wasn’t much of a clubber. I preferred my video games and my comic books over spending hundreds in the club, but Reina explained to me from our initial phone conversation that she loved hookah, loved having a drink, and loved going out when she had the time.
That was where we differed, but it wasn’t a turn-off for me.
She explained that on Mondays, they had a happy hour that shifted into a night party.
We bypassed security without paying a cover charge, and one of the waitresses whisked us to a booth that was in the cut but close enough to hear the music.
“Ok so, Imma order us four shots and a hookah. Cognac for you, right?” she asked, remembering what was in my glass when we met at Vibes and Lines.
I nodded, and she told the waitress our order.
The waitress came back shortly with our drinks and her hookah, and after cheering to new beginnings, Reina lit her hookah and leaned back into the booth, her eyes closing in bliss as the smoke filled the air.
I just stared at her, feeling the effects of the yak I tossed back settle in my bones.
“Why you staring, Vasiah?” she asked with her eyes still closed.
“Cuz you fine.”
“Yeah?” she smirked. “I think you fine too.”
I grinned at her while she continued to smoke, gripping the handle delicately with her manicured fingers. It was so much I wanted to ask her, so much I wanted to pick her brain about, so many ways I wanted to hear her laugh again.
“LaReina?”
“Hmmm?” She popped her eyes open, a slight haze to them that made them look even sexier.
“Tell me more about these rules you have,” I asked. Her cheeks flushed a bit, and she shook her head, a sheepish smile playing across her lips.
“Another story… that may or may not get told, my love.”
Feeling emboldened, I grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. “Well, one day I hope we can break every single one.”
A bashful smile played across her lips as we let the energy between us linger.
I was feeling LaReina so far, and I was sure she was feeling me too.
The night progressed, and we took a couple more shots, then got up on the dance floor.
I couldn’t dance to save my life, but the way she was throwing her ass all over me, I didn’t have to bust a move.
With her permission, my hands roamed all over the small of her waist and down her lower back, lightly squeezing her supple ass.
Dawg, help me, I pleaded with myself. It was getting harder and harder to restrain myself, and I wasn’t even a fuck on the first date type of nigga.
Well, considering that this was my first date, I didn’t know what type of nigga I was, honestly.
I just knew I had this sexy ass woman dancing all over me, feeling too good, and I knew she had to have felt just as good with my hardness in between her wetness.
I could just tell she had good pussy and I –
“This what the fuck you be doing nowadays?” A gruff voice tinged with a slight Spanish accent barked at her.
I mugged his ass instantly. Would I have to fight for her love already?
I sized him up and debated on whether or not I could beat his ass.
I was 6’3, but I was skinny. This guy was like two inches shorter than me and had me by at least twenty pounds.
People often thought that my glasses and chill demeanor meant that I was a pussy, and it wasn’t until I had them spitting out their own teeth that they realized that it was the furthest thing from the truth.
“Enrico, can’t you see I’m busy?” she replied dismissively.
“Fuck all that, you pull that foul ass shit, then blocked me, then got the nerve to be up here shaking yo ass on a mufucka that look like Steve Urkel with dreads. The fuck is up with you, LaReina?”
Reina said nothing, just turned to face me and began placing soft kisses along my neck and jaw, no doubt to make him jealous, but I’d be lying if I said the act ain’t make my knees weak.
I captured her lips in my mouth and softly sucked on them, pulling her closer to me, and gripped the cuffs of her ass.
“LaReina!” Buddy gritted, yanking her by the arm.
Aw shit. I was really about to fight for her love.
“ENRICO! GET YO FUCKIN’ HANDS OFF ME!” she yelled, but I swiftly moved her out of the way.
CRACK!
Since he was stocky, he staggered a bit but didn’t fall and tried to follow up with a two-piece of his own, but I dodged them, punching him in the stomach, which knocked him on his ass.
Crouching down, I hit him three more times, knocking him out cold.
Reina came over and kicked him for good measure and muttered something about him being lucky she didn’t shoot him.
Security rushed over, but I peeped Reina talking to them, and to my surprise, they ain’t say shit to me.
They just picked Buddy’s ass up and disappeared with him.
At that point, we decided to call it one.
My knuckles were bloody as hell, and it dawned on me that I hadn’t had a fight since I was in college.
I was winded as fuck, but ain’t no way in hell Imma let some lame ass nigga grab this damn girl.
“I didn’t even think you could fight,” she blurted as I walked her to her truck. I was silent, but my lips curled up at her joke.
“Most people don’t. A gangsta, I am not, but I ain’t no hoe ass nigga either,” I replied earnestly.
Every day, niggas walked around with their chests puffed out, trying to prove their manhood when they didn’t even know the half about what it means to be a man.
My father started instilling in me what real manhood was as soon as I was able to walk, talk, and wipe my own ass.
Reina nodded, then slid into her driver’s seat as I opened her door for her. “Thank you for today… and even for tonight, Vasiah.” She leaned forward halfway out of her truck and kissed me on the cheek this time. I watched her whip out of the parking lot, feeling dumbfounded.
This woman was gon’ give me a run for my money, wasn’t she?
