6. Bella #2
Adrian closes the laptop and sets it aside. He turns to face me fully, his hand coming up to cup my cheek. “I need to know something,” he says softly. “Are you with me? Not just in this fight against Marcus, but in everything. Are you with me, Bella?”
I look into his eyes and see everything I’ve been searching for - honesty, vulnerability, love. I see a man who’s willing to fight for me, to protect me, to stand beside me no matter what comes next.
I see my future.
But there’s still a flicker of fear, a hesitation that I can’t quite suppress. “I’m scared,” I admit. “I’m scared of Marcus, of what he might do. I’m scared of getting hurt again. I’m scared of trusting the wrong person.”
“I know,” Adrian says gently. “But Bella, remember what he did to you. He left you at the altar. He betrayed you with your own sister. He humiliated you in front of everyone you know. And now we know he’s capable of so much worse.
” His thumb strokes my cheek. “He deserves to pay for it. And I promise you, I will never hurt you the way he did. I will never betray you, never leave you, never make you doubt your worth. I will spend every day proving to you that you made the right choice in trusting me.”
I feel the last of my resistance crumble. I lean into his touch, my eyes closing. “I am with you,” I whisper. “I’m with you, Adrian.”
I feel him smile against my skin as he presses a kiss to my forehead. “Thank God,” he murmurs. “Thank God.”
And then he’s kissing me, soft and sweet and full of promise. I melt into him, my arms wrapping around his neck, pulling him closer.
This kiss is different from the ones we’ve shared before. It isn’t frantic or desperate or driven by weeks of pent-up desire. It’s tender and meaningful, a promise and a commitment all wrapped into one.
Adrian’s hands are gentle as they roam my body, tracing the curve of my waist, the line of my spine. He kisses me like I’m precious, like I’m something to be cherished and protected.
“Bella,” he murmurs against my lips. “My beautiful Bella.”
I pull back just enough to look at him, my fingers tracing the line of his jaw. “Take me to bed,” I say softly. “Make love to me.”
Adrian’s eyes darken with desire, but there’s something else there too - tenderness, affection, love. “Are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure of anything,” I say.
Adrian stands, pulling me up with him. He leads me to the bedroom, his hand warm and steady in mine. When we reach the bed, he turns to face me, his hands coming up to frame my face.
“I love you,” he says, his voice rough with emotion. “I need you to know that. I need you to believe it.”
“I do,” I say, and I realize it’s true. I do believe him. I believe in him, in us, in the future we can build together. “I love you too, Adrian.”
I see the impact of my words in his eyes, see the way they make him soften and strengthen all at once. And then he’s kissing me again, deeper this time, more passionate.
We undress each other slowly, reverently, taking time to explore and appreciate. When we’re finally skin to skin, Adrian lays me down on the bed, his body covering mine.
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispers, his lips trailing down my neck. “So perfect.”
He bites down on my neck suddenly, hard. I hiss. “Say my name,” he whispers against the bruised flesh. “Say my name.” He licks the tender spot he bit me and places gentle, soothing kisses there.
I arch into his touch, my hands roaming the hard planes of his back. “Adrian, please.”
“Mm,” he groans. “Good girl. Because you know, as much as I love hearing you call me boss, I love hearing my name on your lips even more. I’ve got you,” he murmurs. “I’ve got you, love.”
He enters me slowly, his eyes locked on mine, and I feel tears prick the back of my eyes at the intimacy of it all. This isn’t just sex, like we had in the office. This is connection, trust, love.
This is everything.
“Keep your eyes on me,” he orders, twining our hands together over our heads.
Adrian moves inside me with slow, deliberate strokes, each one designed to bring me pleasure, to make me feel cherished.
This isn’t like the office. Here he isn’t my boss, as fun as that was.
Here he is mine. He’s gentler, softer. His hands are everywhere - stroking my hair, caressing my face, intertwining with my fingers.
“I love you,” he whispers against my lips. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too,” I gasp, my body climbing higher and higher. “Adrian, I-”
“I know,” he says, his movements becoming more urgent. “I know, baby. Let go. I’ve got you.”
I come with a cry, my body clenching around him, waves of pleasure washing over me. Adrian follows moments later, burying his face in my neck, my name on his lips.
We lie tangled together afterward, hearts racing, bodies slick with sweat. Adrian presses soft kisses to my shoulder, my neck, my jaw, each one a silent declaration of love.
“Stay with me,” I whisper. “Don’t leave.”
“Never,” Adrian promises, pulling me closer. “I’m never leaving you, Bella. You’re stuck with me now.”
I smile, feeling safe and loved and whole for the first time in months. “Good,” I say. “That’s exactly where I want you.”
We fall asleep wrapped in each other’s arms, the city lights twinkling outside the window, the future stretching out before us full of promise and possibility.
Tomorrow, we’ll continue the fight against Marcus. Tomorrow, we’ll work to bring him to justice.
But tonight, we have each other. And that’s enough.
