Chapter 16

Davide

After Snaps and his men eliminated the guards, they posted up outside the doors on the back and to the right of the building. They were waiting on my signal before they entered the building. Nicco, Victor, Angelo, and Giuseppe stood on both sides of the front entrance, ready to take the place.

“You ready to do this, boss?” Piero asks, rechecking his guns.

I glance at India, who gives me a small smile. I return the gesture, as I bring her hand to my lips. “Yeah, I’m ready.”

We walk up to the door with Piero covering us from behind.

When we get closer, Victor twists the knob and opens the door.

He and Giuseppe enter first with their guns drawn.

India and I entered next, followed by the others.

Different sized crates filled the warehouse floor.

None of the ones in front of us had my numbers on them.

They had to be further inside. Suddenly, the sound of loud voices was coming from the middle of the warehouse.

“Nicco, you and Angelo circle around to the left,” I instruct then point to Giuseppe and Victor. “You two take the right. Stay hidden until you see us come into view.” Tapping the earpiece, I tell Snaps to bring his men at the back door in and have the rest surround the warehouse.

When everyone was in position, India, Piero, and I headed towards the voices.

“Where’s my fucking fiancée?!” A deep male voice yell. That had to be Nelson.

“I told you she was not feeling well, so she wasn’t able to come this time, but I promise she’ll be better before your wedding next week.” Okoye lies.

I glance around the crate in front of me. Nelson was an African American man who reminded me of that British actor, Idris Elba, that Brat was crazy over. Except this mother fucker had long dreadlocks and a clean-shaven face.

Nelson shakes his head. “See, I have this feeling you’re lying to me. Every time I’ve called in the last few days to speak to her, you’ve given me one bullshit excuses after another. Now, I want you to get her on the phone right now!”

“He can’t do that because she is with me,” I state, as we make ourselves known.

Okoye’s eyes widen with fear while Nelson fixates on India, then at our intertwined hands.

His face distorts with anger. Oba and the guards go for their guns, but Nicco and the others come out of their hiding places with their weapons drawn, halting their movements.

Snaps and his men come in from the back, ready to fire on them.

“If you want to live to see another day, you’ll let my fiancée’s hand go.” Nelson threatens.

I smirk. “India is not your fucking fiancée asshole. She belongs to me! You can thank that mother fucker over there for getting us together.” I point to Okoye.

Nelson throws Okoye a menacing look. Okoye holds his hands up in defense. “I didn’t put them together, he kidnapped her!”

“So, you were fucking lying!” Nelson hisses.

I jump in. “You see, Nelson...can I call you Nelson? Doesn’t matter, anyway, Okoye is the cause of all of this.

His first mistake was agreeing to marry my woman off to you.

His second was stealing my money and guns from me, guns that he is here trying to sell you.

I could give a shit about you, but that mother fucker has to pay for what he’s done. ”

Nelson creases his forehead as he studies me. “And who the fuck are you?”

My face hardens as I look him dead in his eyes and reply, “I’m Don Davide Russo, The Silent Killer.” A brief flash of recognition crosses Nelson's face. “Ah, I see you have heard of me. I’m not surprised. My reputation is quite known.”

He chuckles. “Yeah, I’ve heard of you, but guess what, you’re on my turf now.

This isn’t Italy bitch, and I don’t give a shit about him getting over on you.

Your reputation must be inflated if you let someone like him fuck you out of your shit.

As far as those guns go, they belong to me now. I paid for them, so they’re mine.”

“Then you will die right along with him,” I state, before looking over to Victor, who aims his gun at Oba and shoots him right between the eyes. Oba drops to the ground with a thud. Victor was owed that kill since that prick shot him first.

“Oba!” Nelson cries out, looking down at his man. He slowly lifts his head, glaring at India. “You would stand next to a man who just had my best man killed. You’ve been around Oba since you were a little girl! He loved you!”

“Yeah, he loved me alright! He loved me so much he tried to rape me when I was sixteen!” India shouts.

Okoye looks stunned at her revelation. She told me what Oba tried to do to her that night we sat in bed talking.

She expressed how she would kill him if she was given the chance, but I didn’t want her to have his death on her hands.

I told her she wouldn’t have to deal with that because I was going to give Victor the opportunity of putting him down for both of them.

“Don’t act surprised now, daddy! When I tried to tell you what he did to me all those years ago, you know what you told me?

You said, ‘not right now, India, I have a meeting to attend’.

You never cared about me, and the only time you did show any kind of interest in me was when you could use me as a bargaining tool to your associates. ”

“India,” Her brother Isaac calls.

“No, Isaac! You know what I’m saying is true. You’ve witnessed it and guess what you went right along with him!” My woman stares at her brother with tears in her eyes.

“Enough!” Nelson booms. “I don’t have time for fucking family disputes! I want my guns and India, bring your ass over here, now!”

I pull India behind me. “Why don’t you come over here and get her mother fucker!” I challenge, taking two steps forward.

Nelson smirks, walking towards me. “India, I hoped you picked out a beautiful dress for our wedding, although I’m sure you know it can’t be white since you probably let this dago touch you. I’ll have to discipline you for that infraction.”

He charges me with a wild swing. I duck, hitting him with an uppercut to his chin.

Nelson stumbles back, shaking his head, grabbing his chin.

He moves his jaw from side to side. He then rotates his shoulders, bringing his fists up.

I could tell he was used to street fighting, and that would be his downfall because nothing he was going to throw at me would ever connect.

I get into my fighting stance and beckon him with my hand, like Bruce Lee did in that movie.

Nelson growls as he charges me again. He swings with his right fist, I block it.

He swings with the left, I block that shit too then start rapidly punching him in this chest with both fists.

His breath is knocked out of him as he tries to retreat, but I stay on his ass, now moving my blows to his face.

A shot rings out. One of his men thought they could save him by trying to shoot me, but Piero shot him first. That started an all-out gunfight.

India, I thought. I needed to end this mother fucker and make sure my woman was okay.

Quickly, I hit him with the pressure points that rendered him motionless.

Pulling my knife from its sheath, I lean close to his ear.

“No one tries to take what is mine! Since you won’t be smiling when you die, I’ll make sure to leave a permanent one on you.

” I tell him, before slicing his neck from ear to ear.

” I push a dying Nelson to the ground where he lays, choking on his blood.

“Davide!” I hear India cry out. Somehow, her father and brother have got to her and were pulling her toward the exit, as what’s left of their men surround them, shooting at anyone who gets close.

Fuck! I reach for my pistols and begin to shoot as I run towards them. Four of Okoye’s men stop trailing them, as they keep shooting at us, giving Okoye and Isaac time to get India to their car.

“Piero!” I yell. He sprints to my side blasting off rounds.

Together we stalk toward the men, never taking our fingers off the triggers.

Nicco and the rest join us when we get close to them.

Seconds later, Okoye’s men lay dead. Running, I jump over their bodies.

When I get outside, the rest of Okoye’s men are shooting back and forth with Snaps men.

Searching for India, I see her struggling with her father as he tries to force her into the car.

Isaac was behind the steering wheel with the car running.

India cries out when he backhands her. I raise my gun and start shooting, praying that I don’t hit my angel in the process.

The two bullets that hit him in the arm and side were enough for him to let her go.

She scrambles back, as he falls into the car with his legs hanging out.

India turns, running back towards me. I take out the last two guards who were still firing.

I drop my guns as India runs straight into my arms. The sound of tires squealing catches out attention.

Isaac somehow got the rest of Okoye in the car and was now speeding away.

You can run, mother fucker, but your days are numbered.
