63. Chapter 63
Charlotte
Ears in place, dole whip in hand, I am ready to meet some characters, watch some parades, and ride the Matterhorn as many times as humanly possible.
Disney really is the most magical place on earth; it’s completely decked out for fall and Halloween, and it looks absolutely fabulous.
Posing with my snack in front of the castle, Alyssa snaps a pic, and I send it to Jake.

Jake - The most beautiful princess in the land
Charlotte - Stopppp you’ll make me blush
Jake - Let me guess your plan now is to ride the Matterhorn as many times as possible?
Charlotte - How did you know that?
Jake - We’ve been there before. Think on it
Jake - Here’s a little something for you to help remember
Jake - *photo of Jake it’s making me feel a bit nauseous. I’ll be ok.”
“But you love this popcorn. Here, have some.” Alyssa thrusts the box in her face, and at a speed I’ve not witnessed from Kayla before, she darts off to the bathroom.
“Should we go follow her?”
“Obviously, now help me up off the ground.” Alyssa pulls me to my feet as we take off after Kayla.
We can instantly tell what stall she’s in by the sounds of retching and heaving. Knocking gently on the door, I call out, “Kayla? It’s us, can we come in?”
The toilet flushes and she opens the door as she wipes her mouth with some tissue.
Alyssa hands her a water bottle and she gently sips as the color starts to come back to her face.
“What’s going on? Is it something you’ve eaten?” I ask, rubbing light circles on her back.
Regaining her composure, she looks at me and Alyssa, eyes glassy. “I think I might be pregnant.”
After a quick pit stop at the pharmacy, we’re back at the villa waiting for Kayla to take the test.
“I can’t do it,” she mutters to herself as she’s pacing around her room.
“Just go and pee on the stick already. No point in worrying about something until you know if it’s actually happening or not,” Alyssa says as she inspects her nails.
“You know she’s right. The longer you drag this out, the worse it’ll be,” I add.
“Ok, you’re right. Of course you’re right. God, why am I freaking out so badly?” Kayla’s hands shake as she picks up the test from the side and closes the bathroom door behind her.
As she comes out of the room, she puts the test on the counter, and we set the timer.
“Are you going to tell Louis?” I ask while we wait.
“No, not until he’s home. I don’t want to distract him. That’s even if there is anything to tell.”
The alarm goes off and we all stare toward the test. “I can’t look. How could the last time me and Louis had sex before that stupid fucking piercing do this?” Kayla says, covering her eyes.
“I’ll look.” Alyssa creeps toward the test like it’s an unexploded bomb.
“W-what does it say?” Kayla peeks out from behind her hands.
“It’s positive. You’re pregnant, babe.”
Kayla promptly bursts into tears. “No, no, no. I can’t be pregnant right now!” she wails.
“Hey, I thought you wanted to start a family?” It’s what she’s always said.
“I do, but I don’t want to be pregnant on a girls’ trip.
I’m going to be the DD—the boring one—when all I really want is a margarita.
Can we keep this between us for now until I tell Louis?
” Her head falls onto my shoulder, and I do my best to comfort her, although I don’t really know what I can say in this situation to make things any better.
“Of course,” Alyssa and I both agree.
“Well, how about we all have mocktails? Either we all drink or none of us drink?” I suggest.
The look of pure horror on Alyssa’s face at that suggestion is priceless.
Sniffling, Kayla looks at me. “Y-you would really do that?”
“Of course I would if it would make you feel better.”
“Thanks, babe. Ok, let’s get changed, go and eat our weight in food, and pretend we’re drunk on non-alcoholic margaritas!” Kayla tries to sound optimistic.
We end up having the best night, just hanging out together, laughing and joking about random things. I’ve missed this, and I vow to make the effort to do more of this in the future.
