Chapter 7 #2

“Why the fuck you ain’t been said that!” I raised my voice at Solana. She should have been said her daughter was on that good damn bus.

Hearing that she left Sunshyne on the fucking bus had me looking at her side fucking ways.

What kind of mother would leave their daughter on a bus in a dark ass parking lot by her fucking self?

Anything could have happened to baby girl while Solana did whatever the fuck she was doing.

I didn’t even wait for Solana to answer me.

I pulled my keys from my pocket, finding the right key I stuck it in the lock to open the gate.

Pulling the lock off then sliding the gate open I headed straight to Solana’s bus; I could hear her footsteps following behind me.

When we got to the bus I tried to push the sliding bus doors open, but they wouldn’t budge.

Solana came around me with a key in hand, sticking it in a small keyhole, twisting it then she was able to push the doors open.

She rushed up the steps of the bus and I followed behind her, shocked because her bus was nothing like a bus.

When you first walked in there was the normal driver seat with a curtain blocking the aisleway of the bus.

Going behind the curtain the first thing to my right was a walk in shower with a Black and gold shower curtain.

On the side of that were two wooden counters with Black bottom shelves, like you would see in any normal kitchen.

The second counter was a Black sink and faucet.

Across from the sink was a miniature stove with four small burners and a small counter to the side of the stove.

On the other side of that counter is a cushioned bench-like seating area.

I stopped behind Solana at the back of the bus.

She was watching Sunshyne sleeping peacefully in the queen-sized bed.

“Y’all live on this bus?”

“Yup, this has been our home since she was a baby.” Solana replied with a kind of sadness that pulled at my heart. I didn’t know what was wrong with her, but I wanted to be the nigga to fix it.

“So, you was parking in that lot so y’all could sleep or something?” I asked trying to make sense of why she left baby girl alone.

“No,” She sighed, turning around, looking up at me briefly before walking around me and taking a seat on her bench-couch.

“I work…or used to work at Goldie’s. I don’t have a lot of help and paying for a babysitter is out of the question.

It was easy for me to park the bus there and put Sunshyne to sleep and work overnight while I could keep an eye on the bus. ”

“Why don’t you work there no more?” I questioned leaning against the counter diagonal to her.

A sarcastic grin spread across her lips as she said.

“Well, I’m sure my boss won’t be too thrilled that I left in the middle of my shift.

I highly doubt they’ll care that I had to get my skoolie back.

Although I do think my daughter basically being kidnapped is reason enough to leave.

I mean at least I did lock the doors. I guess that’s gotta count for something. ”

“I ain’t kidnap nobody. Just doin’ what I’m paid to do.”

“Lucky you, still get to be paid.” She snarled at me angrily, rolling her eyes.

“Don’t get mad at me cause you thought it was smart to live in a fuckin’ bus. What…”

“It’s called a skoolie.” Her slick mouthed ass cut me off and it took all my restraint not to choke the fuckin’ attitude outta her.

“A what?”

“A S-kool-ee” Solana sounded out her words like a nigga was slow. I heard what the fuck she said I just didn’t know what the fuck she was talkin’ about. “That’s what you call these buses when you transform them into your home.”

“How much you pay someone to do all this shit?” I ain’t gon’ lie this shit was low key nice as fuck. I wouldn’t live in one of these, it wasn’t enough room for day to day but like a man cave on wheels or something like that.

“I paid about 10k for the bus and since I was the one who gutted and did the renovations it was a lot cheaper than most.”

“Ain’t no way you put all this shit together,” laughed at Solana. She ain’t strike me as the manly, butch type of broads that would be good at building something like this.

“I did, thank you very much. I got the videos to prove it.”

“Let me see?” I called her out thinking I caught her up.

Solana pulled out her phone, and I watched her pretty self press some buttons on her phone screen.

As I studied her, I found myself wanting to know her story more.

She wasn’t like a lot of the broads I’d come across in my past. She seemed different, there was more than the surface level shit that most bitches gave you.

There was more to Solana, and I wanted to know everything.

“See,” She held her phone up towards me.

In the video it showed her explaining how to install the counters.

She looked good as fuck too in her cut off denim shorts and white T-shirt tied in the front.

Solana was a little skinner back then, that ass was still pokin’ and her them curves were deadly.

Subconsciously I licked my lips, if I was single, I would have been on Solana.

“I see,” My voice came out husky, and I had to fight off the lustful thoughts I was having about Solana.

I was a nigga through and through from the first time I laid eyes on her in that store she was fine as fuck. Of course, my dick was gon’ respond to her but I wasn’t tryna be no creep ass nigga, so I kept my nasty thoughts to myself.

“Good,” Solana said, standing up and sliding her phone into the back pocket of her Black skintight jeans.

Her honey brown eyes gazed at me curiously then she pushed past me.

Sitting in the driver’s seat she pulled out her keys, sticking them in her ignition.

Pausing before she turned the bus on, she looked back at me.

“I don’t have the money to pay you yet but if you can wait until I get paid, I’ll pay you back.

” Turning back around, Solana tried to start the bus, but it putt like it wasn’t getting any gas.

“FUCK!” She banged her hands on the steering wheel.

I looked back towards where baby girl was still sleeping peacefully.

Unmoved by her mother’s outburst. Hearing Solana’s cries brought my attention back to her.

Feeling my heart strings being pulled I found myself walking over to Solana then pulling her up into my arms. I hugged her tightly, she needed a hug, I could feel it.

Her defeated cries told me what her words couldn’t.

The weight of the world was on her shoulders and she was scared.

The little stability she had for her and her daughter had been fucked up and a part of me felt responsible for Solana’s struggle.

I wanted to be the one to fix it what I’d fucked up.

I held her in my arms, even after she’d stopped crying. I hated to admit that holding Solana felt right even if it was wrong. I was going to help her in every way that I could…as a friend would.

“Thank you,” Solana said slowly, pulling her body from my embrace and I wanted to pull her back not liking the emptiness I felt from her not being near. “I forgot I was supposed to put gas in the bus after I got off this morning." She sighed resting her back on the counter behind her.

“I can get y’all a room for the night,” I offered knowing it would be more than just a night.

“No, if you don’t mind, we can sleep here for the night and tomorrow I can figure out what Imma do.”

“How baby girl finna get to school in the morning?” I didn’t exactly know how old Sunshyne was, but she was had to be close to Mason’s age.

“She’s in preschool so she only goes half a day. Missing a day won’t hurt her.”

“You sure you don’t want to stay in a hotel?” I got they were used to living on this bus, but a nigga was finna feel guilty as fuck leaving them here while I went and got in my bed.

“Yes, just lock the gate and we’ll be fine.”

“Ion know how Imma feel about leaving y’all here alone.”

“Imma big girl Marlo, I got me and my baby. No need to worry about us. I’m sure your pregnant wife needs you at home more than I need you here.”

Solana was fishing, I smirked, meeting her alluring gaze. “My girlfriend is straight. Our daughters and her spending the night over her mama’s house.”

“Good for y’all.” Solana replied through tight lips. “It’s getting late, I wanna shower and go to bed if you don’t mind.” She shooed me with her hands.

“Alright big bad Solana. I’ll be back in the morning."

“Okay Marlo,” She softly replied in a voice that made my heart skip a beat and blood rush towards my dick.

“Put my number in ya phone,” I commanded and once she had her phone out, I called out my number. “Call me if you need me.”

“Yes sir,” Solana mockingly saluted me with a crooked smile.

I shook my head trying to fight my smile, but I failed.

Solana influenced me like no other and it was crazy cause I barely knew her ass.

But I didn’t care, I wanted to be in her presence.

I had to be outta my mind cause a nigga was playin’ with fuckin’ fire.

I was like fuck it let it burn because I wasn’t ready to be away from Solana.

I had to know what she’d done to a nigga to have me gon’ in the head.

Since I first met her, I’d been moving outta character with no real reason why other than Solana…

There had to be something special about her. I just had to figure out what it was.
