Epilogue
Five Months Later
"And do you, Lulu Rae Sutton, take Jett William Parker to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
I grin at my handsome mountain man and nod. "I do."
Jett's eyes haven't left me since the ceremony started. Even as he slides the ring on my finger, repeating the words from the officiant, he's locked on me the entire time. Truthfully, I don't think he's stopped looking at me since the day he saved me in the woods.
It's amazing how much my life has changed in five months. Jett steps forward, placing a hand on each side of my swollen belly and grins at me. In just four months, this little one is going to change it even more.
I moved in with Jett immediately, or, rather, I never left his little cabin up the mountain.
Once the storm cleared, it took another few days to get the roads safe from debris.
I managed to get through to my sister on Jett's landline, so my family knew I was safe.
A ranger had found my car about five miles from Jett's cabin, so everybody in town was rather frantic for about twenty-four hours.
They had every right to be. If Jett hadn't found me, I might still be wandering the woods. .. or worse.
A month after we met, the stick showed two lines. I was terrified to tell Jett, but he scooped me up and swung me around with such joy, I knew it would be okay.
My family has fallen in love with my reclusive mountain man too, and we make sure to stay downtown a few nights a month to get in as much family time as possible.
Jett's sister Sara fits in with my sister and me like the third pea in the pod, and his other sister Greta is like the older sister I never had.
She's been visiting Duhring Park more regularly, and Sara is hoping our little one will convince Greta to move home for good.
"You may now kiss the bride."
Jett's smile lights up his entire face, and he dips me back carefully as he seals the deal.
Laughing, he tips me upright, and we turn to face our family and friends as husband and wife.
Jett's mom dabs at her eyes, crying with joy.
She told me last night at the rehearsal dinner that she has always worried about whether he could possibly meet someone being so isolated in the woods.
His mom and dad are excited to be grandparents, and I'm thrilled to have won the in-law lottery.
Sara's husband, Hayes, is Jett's best man.
He has ahold of Cleo who has just about tripled in size over the last few months.
Cleo is our honorary flower girl for the ceremony today, and she is eyeing the woods like she wants a repeat of our first meeting.
Hayes's friend Emmett built us a little arch to get married under, and our sisters entwined flowers all around it.
I could not have pictured a more beautiful wedding in all my wildest dreams.
We head down the aisle, and Jett stops to give his parents a hug.
He walks to the other side and gives my mom a bear hug.
He has gone out of his way to help my mom with anything she needs, whether it's fixing up her house or driving her to the grocery store so he can carry the big bottles of water into the house for her.
Mom squeezes my hand as we head up the aisle again and mouths, I love you, Lulu.
"I love you, Mom," I whisper, touching my hand to my belly as I think about how much I already love the third member of my new little family. I've found a new appreciation for my mother over the last few months.
As Jett and I walk back toward the reception space, he stops and pulls me in for a slow, lingering kiss.
"I love you, Mrs. Lulu Parker." His beard tickles my neck as he kisses me in that spot that sends a shiver throughout my entire body.
"I love you, Mr. Lulu Parker," I tease, and he nips at my ear.
Goosebumps break out along my skin as Jett whispers hotly, "Let's get this party over with so I can keep making you fall in love with me." He pulls back and gazes into my eyes with so much love, my knees are weak.
"Too late. I fell head over heels right about the same time that tree root took me down." I grin up at him and then squeal as he pulls me up into his arms and carries me down the path.
"Well, it doesn't hurt to make sure you never fall out of love with me," he growls, ready to give me an orgasm behind a tree if I'd let him.
"Not possible," I assure him as I rest my head on his shoulder. But even as I protest, I wonder why I'm refusing to let my new husband make all my fantasies come true.
Who am I to argue with the man who saved my life?
I hope you loved Jett & Lulu's love story
