Chapter 14

Chapter Fourteen

THE HEATHEN

“Do I look hot?” I ask Killian once I’ve got the vest on. His eyes travel the length of my body several times before responding.

“You look hot, Killer. Always. But you’ll look even hotter with his blood coating your beautiful body.”

I haven’t had sex with any of my men since that terrible night. Sometimes I worry that they’ll get tired of waiting, but their patience is endless. There is never any pressure or even an insinuation that they’re tired of waiting.

Leaning in, he kisses my cheek softly.

“Do you have everything?”

“Guns, crosses, my men. Yep. I’ve got everything I need.”

I spent last night with my men watching me sharpen the end of the crosses into a sharp point. When I said I needed a new sharpening stone I was met with confusion but as they watched me, they understood.

Killian wraps his arm around my waist and speaks low, his tone is a warning even more than his words are.

“I’m well aware that it was nothing more than a hug between you and Bones, but I don’t like it, and I don’t expect to see it again.”

I open my mouth to argue that I didn’t initiate it, but then I catch his glare and think better of it.

“Never again.”

“Good girl.” He growls in my ear, and for the first time in a long time, it shoots straight to my core and causes a shiver to roll down my spine.

We take four vehicles to the Morte Mafia compound because there’s too many of us to fit in one. It’s not just us and Bones’ family. He decided to bring his security detail as well. Just to be safe.

I sit between Carter and Killian while Knox drives our SUV.

Kill squeezes my knee affectionately.

“Clear thinking, Killer. At all times.”

I’ve been lectured about this a lot, but I know it’s because they care.

“I promise.”

Carter gazes at me, a wild hunger in his eyes and my heart races wildly.

“What’s the plan?”

I run my tongue over my bottom lip, the thrill of revenge traveling through me like a live wire. I’ve waited so long for this, and finally, he is going to pay for what he did to me.

“Kill anybody standing in my way. Extract Grave. Take him to the location Bones secured for us. Then-“

I sigh audibly.

“Torture. So much torture. When I decide, and only when I decide, death. Before any of that, I want him to lead us to Jedediah. I want everyone in this family dead, aside from the children, but Grave and the Prophet are my prime targets.”

“What else, Little Heathen?”

I swallow hard, his eyes stare into mine, his gaze intense as an inferno builds inside my chest.

“Clear thinking. Stay aware of my surroundings. No hesitation. Fucking kill everyone.”

His lips lift into a smile, and instantly I’m weak.

“Such a beautiful, fucking perfect, Little Heathen.”

And then he kisses me.

For almost three months, I have not let my men touch me much at all, until today. No kissing. Definitely no sex. My mind has been a ?train wreck fueled by night terrors. In this moment, Carter sees me and somehow senses that I’m ready.

His tongue swirls around mine as he presses a shaky hand to my cheek. The trauma took this from us. This closeness that’s everything. It’s like coming home. A breath whispering that the girl who never fits finally does. This is where I belong. It doesn’t matter where, as long as it’s with them.

Carter pulls back, his eyes on mine, the moment between us intense.

“I’m sorry.”

“I’m not.”

“I should’ve asked.”

Shaking my head, I clear up any doubts he has.

“You have been patient and never asked for more than I could give. It’s been three months, and you knew what I needed. As always.”

Knox stops at our agreed spot to meet up with the brothers.

“Now I need Grave. I need to make him pay, and then I’m going to ask all three of you to kiss me like your life depends on it.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Killian groans, and I giggle as Knox gets out and opens the door for us.

“Are you ready?” Bones asks, and I nod.

“Completely ready. I’ve been waiting for this since I was fourteen years old.”
