Chapter 15
Rain and thunder rippled in waves across Ecrin.
Roofs were washed clean of dust and debris.
Gutters ran to overflowing. Streets filled up and flooded those unlucky enough to live at street level.
Rain usually made the city feel and smell clean.
This time, the rot of sewage assaulted all that lived there. It rose up out of overflowing drainage.
Renz trotted up the stairs to his father’s office. Dinner tray in hand. The dutiful son bringing his hard working father a bite to eat. Mother was safely out of town visiting her sister. That sister that always looks down in irritation at Renz. He’d take care of her, too, one day.
“Father, I come bearing victuals to strengthen a weary soul on a rainy evening,” Renz said as he entered the office. Father’s ever-present scented candle crackled on the desk.
“Hmm, excellent. Set it here, my son,” Alpha King Silas flipped a page of a contract over.
“We have requests for new rules to strengthen pack treaties. There have been loop holes for a few centuries that some packs have been abusing. It’s time to get more order in treaty affairs.
Here, read this. Tell me what you think. ”
Renz dutifully read the list of do’s and don’ts. More blah blah about equality among packs and not taking advantage of each other. The new rules would take away the very leniency’s Renz and his people needed to operate across pack lines.
“Who put these together? They’ve been most thorough,” Renz said in approval. Now he could get rid of the people trying to undermine the best of wolf society.
“Elders Heald, Kent and Pryon. They are a force for good to our people.”
“Elder Kent comes out of the Blood Moon Pack. There seems to be no stopping that pack from producing do-gooders,” Renz smiled in unanimity with his father.
“May other packs follow their lead,” Alpha King Silas said as he ate his pasta. He always ate with a single minded goal to finish and get on with the next task.
“How close are we on the final revisions?”
His father was looking uncomfortable. He took a sip of wine and put it down in disgust.
“The wine is off,” he said and picked up another file. “This is the final revision. It will be going for a vote next week. You’ll be there to be the tiebreaker if need be.”
Renz took the file as his father blotted some sweat off his forehead.
“Are you feeling well, father?” Renz asked as he perused the document.
“No,” Alpha King Silas’ voice had turned raspy. He pulled out his collar and clutched his chest.
“Oh dear,” Renz tutted. “Looks like someone is having a bad reaction to silver. Maybe even a heart attack.”
Alpha King Silas weakly wiped drool off his lip. He stared at Renz in growing horror.
“Why?” he wheezed. “Doctor.”
“Oh, no. No doctor yet, daddy,” Renz mocked.
“As to why, you’re weak and in my way. You’re giving too much to the preachy packs.
They sing and dance about morality while the truly great are treated like scum.
Don’t worry about our people, father. I’ll get things right,” Renz said as his father sagged in the chair.
Renz took the finalized document and held it over the flame of his father’s candle. All that hard work went up in smoke.
Alpha King Silas breathed his last as his own son laughed at him. A tear slowly slide down his cheek.
Renz took a deep breath, gearing up for his next grand performance.
“Guards, the doctor! Call the doctor! The King!” he cried out in distress.
The dutiful son worked over his father lain flat on the floor.
Breathe. He had to get his father to breathe.
Tears filled his eyes as someone pulled him off his father’s lifeless body.
He cried as they too, tried to revive him as the doctor ran in.
But sadly, in the end, there was nothing to be done.
A heart attack. A widow maker in its truest sense.
Renz called for the return of his mother, knowing she’d already felt the mate-bond break. Of course, the poor woman would need the familiarity of her quarters to mourn the loss of her mate. A nurse would need to be in constant attendance.
The nurse would be a witch in reality, Renz mused as he got back to his own quarters. He needed the witch to make his mother live. Her Luna abilities were critical to keep him on the throne.
She could last another good thirty years or longer, if Renz had his way. Finding his own Luna was not a task he was willing to take. No need to saddle himself to a woman when he’d have Jaxom to screw at his convenience, among other slaves.
Now that the barrier of his father was gone, Jaxom would have no choice. It was time to make that clear to his chosen mate. If need be, Drake could be killed off. He wasn’t necessary in Jaxom’s life anymore.
My Dear, Dear Jaxom,
I can’t tell you how my heart brakes for our people. My beloved Father has passed. The grief of his leaving this life will affect me for the rest of mine.
I could have used your warm arms to hold me in this time of loss. Your strong body would help me and thus, our people to stand as tragedy rocks our realm.
The prophecies are very specific. You must come to me. Magic grows more chaotic at your rebellion to the Moon Goddess. As her chosen son, follow prophecy. Reject your fated mate and choose me so we can bring peace to the land. Help the magic settle back into calm and order.
I will not allow you to continue resisting your fated path. If you do not come to me of your own accord, I will force the issue. Do not humiliate your pack by making them watch me bring you home.
I can’t wait to hold you, my love.
In mourning and grief,
In hope and love for you,
Your Prince Renz.
“Boy, bed time,” Renz commanded as he put the last of the potion on the letter to keep Jaxom’s mouth shut.
He sealed the letter and gave it to the messenger who held his pouch open to receive it.
The messenger was out the door as his trembling slave unbuttoned his shirt, took his pants off and oiled his cock.
Renz sighed in pleasure as he sank into his slave and gave him a long slow ride.
This was his third black haired slave boy.
He’d only had him for three months. Not that he was exclusive with any of his slaves.
And up until now, he had to keep them hidden from dear departed dad.
No, it just got boring after a slave got accustomed to their lot in life.
Jaxom would be different. He’d eventually fade out of this life from a forced mate-bond. That would be even more satisfying than ending a slave. Renz would take delight in watching the fire in Jaxom’s eyes eventually die long before his body followed suit.
Cain came in through the secret hallway behind the suite. The man looked satisfied as he surveyed Renz using his black haired boy.
“Fuck his mouth if you’d like,” Renz huffed. “A little victory blowjob.”
“Don’t mind if I do. Thank you, my good Alpha King Renz.”
Cain was already on his knees on the bed. The slave unbuttoned his pants one handed, a trick he was finally getting good at. Blowjobs were not the poor boy’s favorite but he’d finally stopped complaining.
“Our men are moving to bring legislation for conscripts and debt repayment in the guise of indentured servitude. There are plenty of convicts and rogues that would do well as servants, too. Takes the burden off the crowns coffers and gets deserving wolves the free labor they are due.”
“How’s the planting of my chosen mate prophecies? Are the Elders buying them as legit?”
“Witch Magdahl has been most convincing,” Cain groaned as he thrust deeper into the warm mouth sucking his cock.
“Your boy has had practice. And yes, we’ve won over four so far.
You know Kent, Pryor, and Heald won’t ever go for them.
Magdahl is working on taking them out. They are too damn cautious. ”
“Witch Hazel needs to be dealt with, too. She’s been too much help to Blood Moon.”
“Well, that’s being taken care of, too. Your boy here, you can’t kill him.”
Renz felt excitement rushing through him. The boy was gagging on Cain now, unable to stop being forced farther down his cock.
“Are you serious?” Renz asked as ecstasy flooded him.
“Very. Magdahl has seen it. The perfect bait for a very lonely witch.” Cain moaned as the slave sucked him down.
“And we get to deny her him, and him her,” Renz groaned as he came in his now very interesting boy. “How wonderful is that? I just raped Hazel’s fated mate.”
