Chapter 26 #3
He couldn’t go there. He had to wait here, in no man’s land. Jaxom needed him there where he was stuck getting hurt.
The pain lanced Drake’s heart over and over again. He couldn’t stop the pain Jaxom was enduring. And he knew, he knew it had to get worse before it would get better. Jaxom had to go. Drake and Hayden had to stay. It was the only way forward.
Drake kept running until his wolf was exhausted. There had to be another way. He howled to the Moon Goddess, begging her for his mate. The howl knocked him out of the dream, back into bed with Jaxom in his arms.

“Jaxom, wake up,” Drake whispered quietly in his ear. He stirred feeling Drake’s urgency through the bond. “In the living room.”
Jaxom followed Drake and found himself swept into Drake’s arms. His deep kiss and frantic hands swamping any resistance Jaxom may have had. His mate needed him. Jaxom returned the kiss. He wrapped his arms around Drake, holding him tight. Something made his mate shake in his arms.
“You’re going to do something stupid. I can feel it,” Drake whispered. “Whatever it is requires planning. Please don’t.”
Drake’s kiss shut Jaxom up from answering.
He ran his fingers through Jaxom’s hair to hold him still.
The sinking desperation was coming through the mate-bond.
Drake kept kissing him like this would be the last time.
He held his mate, trying to return his reassurance that everything was going to be alright.
“I’m not planning anything. I haven’t had time to think,” Jaxom said between kisses.
It was true, though. There had been no time to think since Hayden had stumbled into their lives. Right now his only priorities were Drake and Hayden. Everything else was a distant second, including the threat to his father’s pack.
“Remember us. Never forget us together,” Drake said as he dropped to his knees.
Jaxom tried to stop him from lowering his sleep pants.
Drake was already there, his hot mouth engulfed him.
He cupped the back of Drake’s head, not to control him but to keep contact.
He couldn’t hold back as Drake pulled out all the tricks to give Jaxom pleasure.
Heat and suction, quick and hard, drew out a cry of ecstasy as he came in his mate’s mouth. Knees collapsed, unwilling to hold him.
Drake had tears running down his face as Jaxom reeled him in for a kiss.
He held Drake as emotion swamped over them both.
So much, so fast, and no time to process.
The sheer weight of their lives changing, and those changes affecting all of wolf kind, was incomprehensible.
It would take generations to figure out all the ramifications.
“It’s going to be okay. I promise,” Jaxom whispered over and over. “We’ll figure this out together. I promise I have no plan.”
“But you will have a plan,” Drake said gruffly. “You’ll go where Hayden and I can’t follow.”
“Hey, hey, sh,” Jaxom soothed. “What makes you say that?”
“A dream. A true, living dream.”
“Are you saying we get to mate and mark Hayden?” Jaxom tried to tease.
“Yes.”
Drake encouraged Jaxom to step out of his sleep pants, then stripped off his own.
He pushed Jaxom down on the floor to lay on top of him.
He traced Jaxom’s jaw with the tips of his fingers.
Hazel eyes studied him. Jaxom set up a slow massage of Drake’s back.
Hard muscles flowed under his palms. A storm was rising up in Drake and spilling over the both of them.
Drake fisted Jaxom’s hair in his hand. Lips brushed against Jaxom’s, demanding he open up and let Drake in.
Scorching kisses helped Jaxom rise to meet Drake again.
Drake stopped long enough for a touch of lube.
He studied Jaxom again as he slowly slid inside.
Jaxom adjusted so Drake could take him how he liked.
Drake’s hard length filled him, making him know who he belonged to.
Jaxom groaned as Drake slowly started to thrust into him.
His hard cock massaging him, calling him to cry out for more.
“A memory, a memory. Take all you can of these memories with you,” Drake growled in Jaxom’s ear. An order. A demand. A command that he wasn’t allowed to ignore.
“All of them, Drake, promise,” Jaxom gripped Drake’s waist as his mate pounded into him. Jaxom’s breathy moans filled the living room. “Yes, Drake. You’re in my soul. Take me, love.”
Bodies slid against each other, rising to pleasure again.
Jaxom pulled Drake as close as he could.
He cried out as he splashed cum between their bodies.
Jaxom shook as Drake followed him into bliss.
The feel of his mate cumming deep and hard kept him cumming, too.
The storm eased as they held each other tight.
Drake collapsed in Jaxom’s arms, spent. His guy had no more tears, no more passion.
A knowing passed between them that things were going to get much worse before they got better.
Jaxom didn’t know how Drake transmitted that part of the dream to him but they lay on the floor together, shook to the core.
