Chapter 18

REBEL

Groaning, I roll my head from side to side.

Why am I hurting so much?

Opening my eyes, I find myself sitting on the floor tied to a cement column in the middle of a room.

Where the hell am I?

Memories come flooding back, and I jerk my head up straight, coming face-to-face with a woman I haven’t seen in years. It’s because of her, Rogue and I broke up ten years ago.

Sabrina Raymond-Walton.

Honestly, I thought she’d moved away. I remember her being a cheerleader for the school and popular.

Why the hell did she do this to me?

“Oh look, the slutty whore who ruined my life is awake,” Sabrina sneers, waving a gun in my direction.

“What do you want with me?” I demand, trying to fight my bindings.

“I’ve already told you what I want. I told you.

Plenty of times,” she spits and starts pacing.

“You ruin everything. I thought you learned your lesson years ago. He’s mine.

He’s always been mine. Why did you have to come back in the picture, huh?

You’re nothing and never were. I don’t know why Xander couldn’t see it back then.

I told him. Over and over again. I told him.

You weren’t worth it. He had our little boy and me.

He was happy. Why did you ruin everything? ”

I stay silent during Sabrina’s rant.

This chick has lost it.

“Oh well, it doesn’t matter anymore. After today, I won’t have to worry about you or anyone else for that matter keeping Rogue from me,” she says, stopping to give me a sadistic smile. Lifting the gun in her hand, Sabrina pulls the trigger—hitting me in the leg.

I scream out in agony. The pain in my leg is excruciating.

Tears well in my eyes as I stare up at Sabrina to find her laughing hysterically. “Yes, he’s going to be mine, and this time I won’t let him get away. We’ll be happy again. Once he sees me kill you, he’ll know I’m the one for him. He’ll know it.”

Oh. My. God.

The woman isn’t just delusional. She’s downright insane.

Sabrina continues muttering to herself as she moves over to the side of the room. She places the gun on a table and starts fidgeting with something.

Squinting, I begin to panic as I recognize it for what it is—a bomb.

This definitely isn’t good.

Does she plan to kill us all?

ROGUE

Pulling into the school, I’m thankful it’s the weekend, and I don’t have to worry about anyone getting in the way. I park and head for the school’s doors. I reach into the holster under my cut and pull out my gun.

Shooting the locks off the door to the school, I swing it open.

“Brother, what are you planning?” Axe asks, walking next to me.

“Find the bitch and get my woman back before she kills her. I’m not about to lose her and our kid,” I snarl, debating where Sabrina might have taken Rebel.

“Right, so where do you think she is?” The sound of my Prez’s voice coming up behind me doesn’t surprise me. He wouldn’t miss out on the action.

“I’m thinking since she’s going all horror chick, what about the boiler room or basement?” Gunner suggests.

The basement.

They used to keep all the theatre stuff down there.

“We’ll check there,” I state and head in that direction.

Getting to the door, we could hear someone talking.

Bingo.

We’ve found the bitch.

Throwing the door open, I rush down the stairs and quickly take in the scene in front of me. Rebel is tied to a beam, blood seeping from her leg. Sabrina’s reaching for her gun when she sees me. Her eyes brighten as she smiles at me.

“You came. I knew you’d come,” she says, “Now we can be together again. I can’t express how much I love you. Not without showing you.”

What the hell is wrong with this bitch?

“Brother, that’s a bomb right next to her,” Hammer whispers quietly.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

We’ve gotta get this shit done and get Rebel out of here.

“Get her away from it, and I’ll see if I can stop it,” Gunner growls and slowly makes his way in that direction without drawing Sabrina’s attention to him.

“You get Rebel, I’ll take her down,” Malice says, and I nod in confirmation. I’d get my woman.

This little showdown should be interesting.

I look over to Rebel and find her face isn’t filled with fear right now. It’s filled with hatred and anger.

“Don’t look at her,” Sabrina snaps, drawing my attention to her.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I demand, stepping closer to Rebel.

Sabrina shifts her body, keeping hers facing me the entire time.

The moment Malice has the opportunity, he takes it.

Everything seems to happen all at once.

Hammer and I move to Rebel. We untie her while Malice makes sure that Sabrina is immobilized.

“You okay, baby?” I ask, lifting her into my arms.

“Yes, can we please get out of here?” she asks.

“We’re gonna have to. This bomb is a piece of work. I don’t know where she got it from, but we’ve got five minutes before it blows.” Gunner says, standing over by the bomb.

“What should we do with her?” Malice asks.

Normally we don’t hurt women, though I’m seriously tempted to do so right now.

“Chain her to the beam,” Rebel orders before anyone can say anything else.

“You heard her,” Hammer snarls. This situation can’t be easy for him, but it’s Rebel who was hurt more times than we can count by Sabrina. Meaning it’s her call.

Axe and Gunner quickly get Sabrina tied to the beam before all of us make a run for it.

REBEL

We barely make it out of the building.

I can’t believe how close we all came to dying today.

Never in my life did I think I might get blown up. Then again, I didn’t think I’d have a stalker either.

Leaving the school, the guys take me to the hospital where Gunner’s sister, Honor, is waiting for us.

I don’t know how she does it, but no one asks about the bullet wound I’ve received.

But I can see the way the doctor is looking at her, and I’m sure I can take a guess.

He’s either sleeping with her or wants to.

Once they’d removed the bullet and patched me up, I’m free to go. Well after I had made a fuss. I didn’t want to stay in the hospital if I could do the same thing at home under the supervision of my man.

Thank God.

All I want to do is go home and sleep.

“You sure you’re okay, Duchess?” Rogue asks, cupping the side of my face.

I give him a reassuring smile and nod. “I’m more than okay because it’s over.”

“Yeah, it’s over, baby, and now you’re all mine.” He grins and leans forward, pressing his lips to mine. “Let’s get you home now.”

“Hmm, yes, please, and can we order some TJ’s Noodles? I’m starving.”

Rogue chuckles and hugs me again. “Anything you want.”

Smiling, I wrap my arms around him. “I love you.”

“Love you too, Duchess.”

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing those words come out of his mouth. We lost ten years, because of Sabrina being a lunatic. Now she’s gone, and we can finally move on and not worry about the past.

We’ve got our future to look forward to, and it all starts now.
