Chapter 17
GUNNER
Hours pass, and my fury grows higher with each passing moment. My entire being throbs with pain, but I’m not letting it stop me. Not when I need to find my woman and bring her home. They took her from me in an ambush, and I’ll make them pay for it.
Delilah refused to want to let me go at first. It had killed me to see her hysterical the way she was, but I managed to get her to calm down. I promised her I would bring Zinnia back to her. I won’t break my word. If I did that, it would kill me.
Avery, Willow, CJ, and Rebel manage to somehow get Delilah to go with them to another room and help them with the babies that are already in there. My little girl loves kids and enjoys helping whenever she can.
From the moment we got to the clubhouse, Cy’s been gathering in as many details as he can find on my woman’s whereabouts.
I can feel it in my gut the bastard didn’t take her far. He wouldn’t, not knowing he could torment me with the fact he has her.
The thought of losing Zinnia is more than I can bare to think about. I’ve got to get her back, and I’ll make him pay for taking her from me.
Making it into the room we hold church, I take my place and look at my brothers. “What do we have so far?”
“I’ve got a couple locations that are potentials for where Basa took her,” Cy says, not taking his eyes off the laptop in front of him. “From what I’m gathering right now, Basa is working alone with a few of his men on this. His father is still in Florida.”
“How many locations are we talking about here?” Hammer asks, his tone filled with anger.
“Three,” Cy answers and finally looks up at me. “One is thirty minutes from here. The other two are an hour out.”
“He’ll have taken her to the closest one,” I snarl, curling my lip at the edge. “I can feel it. He wouldn’t have gone to the other two.”
“I agree,” Malice nods. “He’d want to torment her with the fact you’re close to her, but don’t know where to find her.”
I clench my teeth and ball my hands into fists to try and keep my shit together. I can’t lose it right now. Not when she needs me.
“Let’s get the address, load up, and get the fuck out of here,” Hammer commands, banging his fist on the table rather than the gavel. “We’ve got a brother’s ol’ lady to get back and war to prepare for. No more pussy footing around with these bastards.”
Nodding, I stand. It’s time to get my woman back, and I’ll make anyone who gets in my way bleed for coming between us.
We pull up to the house Cy found, and I don’t bother waiting around. I pull one of my two guns from its holster and take off for the front entrance. I hear my brothers muttering orders and where to go. I don’t care.
I kick the door in and step inside. “Basa!” I roar, not being quiet about my presence. I want him to know I’ve come for my woman.
I move further into the house, and men start coming from the back of the house.
Gunfire rips through the night, and I don’t pay attention to them.
I shoot back, killing those who come at me, though I leave the rest for my brothers to handle.
My focus is on finding my woman and getting her back to me.
Searching the house, I don’t see her anywhere, but I’m sure she’s here. She’s got to be.
“Gunner,” Savage calls out, finding a hidden door. He opens it, and together we head down a flight of stairs.
At the bottom, my heart lurches, and I shove my gun in the holster as I rush across the room to my woman and hold her convulsing body to me.
“Zinnia, baby, come on,” I say, rocking her and patting the side of her face, swiping at the foam forming in her mouth. “Come on, baby, open your eyes for me.”
“Gunner, brother, let me get to her,” Dagger comes to his knees in front of me. I hadn’t even heard my brothers come into the room.
I shake my head, clutching her close to me, shielding her naked body from my brothers.
“Come on, Gunner, you gotta let me get to her. I can help her,” Dagger urges.
“We’re going to have to lock him down so Dagger can help her.” I hear Malice say from behind me. “Savage, Bruiser, Ruger, help me with Gunner. Cy, Axe, help Dagger with getting Zinnia out of here.”
Everything happens at once, and my brothers take Zinnia away from me and hold me on the floor, locking me down so the others can get my woman out of here.
I fight them off, but they manage to keep me pinned.
My emotions are in turmoil. All I can see is my woman shaking, foaming at the mouth, and convulsing in front of me.
It takes every ounce of strength I have to regain some control. I need to be with Zinnia, and I can’t do that if my brothers have me locked down.
Fuck.
“Get off me,” I snarl.
“Not until I know you’re gonna keep your cool, brother,” Malice snaps.
“I’m good, just let me go. I’ve gotta get to my woman.” I need to be with her, to know she’ll be okay.
Slowly they let me go and step away. I dart past them and head for the stairs. I take them two at a time, more than ready to get to Zinnia and set eyes on her.
“Gunner,” Cy yells as I get to the door to find one of the SUVs we’d ridden up in gone. “Dagger and Savage are headin’ for the hospital.” He tosses me the keys to Dagger’s bike.
Nodding, I catch them and head for the bike. I straddle it and start her up without a moment’s thought. The only thing I can think about is getting to the hospital and making sure my woman lives to see another day.
We’ve been through way too fuckin’ much for me to lose her all over again.
