AURORA

I kept my face buried in his neck, not wanting to see the debauchery going on around us, until Ryse stepped into a smaller room. He kicked the door closed, put me down for a moment, then locked it.

Then he picked me up again and went to sit on the side of a large bed.

I looked around and saw details in the dimly lit space. The large single bed had a handmade quilt on it and several thick, fluffy pillows. There were some framed paintings of dragons on the walls and a small but well-stocked bookcase and desk in the corner.

Finally, it dawned on me.

“This is your room,” I said, looking up at him wide-eyed.

He nodded.

“You’ll be safe here.”

But would I? I could see that his eyes were still glowing a bright gold in the dim light, and I could feel the lust coursing through him—coursing through both of us.

Overhead the dragons were flying—soaring high and rutting in mid-air as they fought for mates. There were fewer female dragons than male dragons, which meant the competition was fierce—and I was feeling every bit of it.

Ryse must have been feeling it too. Suddenly he took my face in his hands and kissed me long and hard.

I gasped and then his tongue was in my mouth, and I was kissing him back, tasting the hot, spicy flavor of his lips, pressing myself against him like a cat in heat, begging to be bred.

“Oh Goddess, I’ve wanted this,” Ryse groaned, and his hands were in my hair and rubbing my back and shoulders. “I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t fucking help it!”

“I want it too,” I moaned. Turning in his lap, I straddled him and wrapped my arms around his neck. We were kissing like we were starving—like we were drowning and didn’t even care—happy to go under as long as we went together.

And then one of his big, hot hands fell on my chest and squeezed.

My breasts—which had been getting quite a bit larger lately—fit perfectly in his palm. I felt him squeeze, his palm rubbing against one of my tight, sensitive nipples, sending sparks of pleasure straight down to the hot, wet V between my thighs.

“Gods,” he moaned and did it again.

The sensation was even better the second time…and finally enough to wake me up from the crazed lust I’d fallen into.

Pushing him away, I scrambled off his lap and fell on the floor. I stared up at him with wild eyes—did he know what he’d been touching? Did he know my secret now?

I couldn’t be sure at first. Then Ryse ran a hand through his hair and shook his head.

“Fuck, I’m so fucking sorry, Auri,” he said, and his voice was ragged with need. “Didn’t mean to do that.”

He got up abruptly and reached for me again.

I shied away from him, but he shook his head.

“No, don’t run—I won’t hurt you.”

“We…we might hurt each other,” I whispered, thinking of the crazed acts of lust I’d seen in the hallways and the dorm.

“I know—but we won’t. Here.”

Grabbing me by the arm, he opened another door and pushed me into a smaller room that echoed strangely.

“What…what are you doing?” I gasped, looking up at him.

“Lock the door,” he ordered. “And no matter what I say or do, don’t open it until the Mating Flight is over.”

“How will I know when it’s over?” I demanded.

“You’ll feel it,” he said shortly. “We both will.”

Then he shut the door behind me, leaving me in the small dark room, wondering what in the world had just happened between us and if he had any idea of my secret and who and what I really was.
