Chapter 7
CHAPTER

LOOT
Temporary custody.
Which is only granted because the cunt did one thing right. She listed me on the birth certificate as Cade’s father. Though she only did that so I would be forced to pay child support.
Cade also made it very clear that being with me is where he would like to stay. He doesn’t want to be anywhere else. With me is where he feels safe and where he wishes to continue living.
There are going to be visits, pop-up ones. Which means I’m going to have to stay at home more than just a few nights a week. I’m a full-time dad now, which is what I’ve always wanted. When it comes to Cade, it’s just something I never thought I could have.
I’m going to need to make Cade the complete priority. Not that he isn’t already, but my world is about to change. Because there is no way in fuck I am going to allow Destinee to get him back.
Not ever again.
She has fucked up for the last time.
The process of getting my son under my roof and keeping him there permanently starts now. The club is going to have to take a back seat, and I know they’ll understand, but I also need to talk to Dare about it all because someone else is going to have to pick up my slack.
It could be a loss in some club income, but it’ll be worth it in the end, and I make plenty with my rental investments anyway. I’ve just been reinvesting the money over and over and not using a single dime. If need be, I can live off that monthly income without even touching the capital.
It was a late night, or rather, early morning, by the time we got home. Cade was asleep in the back of my car and didn’t even flinch when I picked him up and put him in bed. I asked the neighbor to text me if Destinee appeared again at the house.
The police said they’d like to have a chat with her, and I’m all fucking for it. I’d like to have one with her as well, although my chat wouldn’t end the same way as the police’s conversation.
When I have a conversation with Destinee, I’m going to do what I should have done years ago. I’m going to take care of her in a way that she’ll never be a problem again. It’s not something I ever wanted to do, at least not to Cade, but she’s been neglecting my kid.
And that’s not fucking cool in the slightest. That’s something she’s going to need to atone for. When she does atone, she’d better fucking hope the cops get to her before I do, because there is no way in fuck I’ll let her live to see another day.
I’m done with Destinee.
Dare answers on the third ring. “The fuck?” he growls.
It’s not early by most people’s standards, but to the men in the club, it is, which means Dare was fast asleep, likely sleeping off a bender.
Something he’s been doing more often than not, and I’m sure it involves the woman who shares his name but not his bed.
A topic that he does not want to discuss whatsoever.
“I got a fucking problem,” I begin.
I tell him everything. He knows how Destinee is, knows that I pay her well in an effort to keep her from causing problems—club and personal. Now she’s the fucking problem, and it is very personal.
“That cunt,” he growls. “How in the fuck did you end up sticking your bare dick in her?” he demands.
I snort. Honest to fuck, I don’t remember being with her ungloved. But I know that Cade is mine. Not only does he look and act just like me, but I also paid for a paternity test because I don’t trust a hair on Destinee’s head.
“I have no idea. It was a decade ago, but what’s done is done, so now I need to focus on keeping my kid away from her.”
“You have the club’s full support, whatever that looks like.”
No questions asked. No vote. Nothing. Just complete devotion. That’s family. I know it is, and I knew it’s what he was going to say, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel good to hear it, because it does.
“I’m going to need to take some time off from my club duties. I gotta get Cade situated and probably get him registered for school once I talk to the caseworkers and everything. Might have to drive him to class in Henderson. I’m not sure yet about details.”
“Loot,” Dare calls out.
“Yeah?”
“Do whatever the fuck you need to do. We got you, and we got this.”
“I appreciate that, Dare.”
“Brother,” he growls, but then ends the call without another word.
I snort, shoving my phone in my back pocket. Looking down the empty hallway, I clear my throat as I shake my head from side to side. I can’t believe this is how shit is playing out. It’s honestly a long time coming. I was willing to leave it all alone.
Cade will be eighteen in just eight short years, and I thought the bitch could be fucking decent for that long.
But she can’t. Honest to fuck, I don’t think she was ever decent.
She pretended, did the bare minimum, and then fucked around the rest of the time.
I should be grateful that Cade is still alive at this point.
And I am.
I’m also extremely fucking pissed off at myself for letting her threaten me.
For backing down when I knew that years ago, I should have taken Cade and dealt with her.
I wanted his life to be different. I want him to have more than I ever did, but I gave him the wrong fucking mom for that, and then I continued to give him the wrong mom.
No more.
Destinee is on her last fucking minutes of breathing. She better hope the cops find her before I do. That’s the only way she’ll live, because if I find her first, I’m going to make her pay for everything I know she did to my kid, and everything I don’t know about.
Because fuck her.
