Epilogue
When my parents were killed, I resigned myself to the notion of being a drifter with no real life. I moved from place to place as my past caught up with me.
Standing on Daile’s front porch as the pack motors by and knowing that I’m welcome to join them for a run in the woods fills me with hope. The woman standing next to me with her arms around my waist fills me with love.
I’m not sure I deserve this life, but I’m not going to complain.
She squeezes. “You should go and have your run.”
Despite how good my life is, my nerves rise as I reach inside my pocket and take hold of the small velvet box. “I’ll go later.”
“Why?” She tips her chin to look at me. “I thought you like running with the pack.”
“I do, but I was wondering if maybe tonight, you’d like to come with me?” I swear my heart has lodged itself in my throat, causing the words to come out rough.
She takes half a step back and stares at me. “You want me to run in the woods with you?”
Dear god, she’s adorable. “It’s a warm night. I’m a very big cat. I thought you might like to ride on my back. There’s a place I’d like to take you. With the full moon, it will be beautiful.”
Her freckled cheeks turn bright red as they always do when she experiences any kind of emotion. “I think I would like that, as long as you don’t do anything crazy like climb a tree or jump over a ravine.”
I pull her close again as another group of bikes roars by. “You’ll be safe with me.”
Letting out a sigh, she presses her cheek to my chest. “I always am.”
I’ve kissed every freckle, and I’m ready to drag her inside and do it all again. She’s the most beautiful and dedicated person I’ve ever known. When I first saw her at the tribunal in Florida, I’d been stunned. It was the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.
Immediately after we left the courtroom, Jude offered me a permanent place in the Devil’s Pack Motorcycle Club. It means I’m one of the pack, and it’s like a family. Once he said that Daile would be accepted as my mate, I agreed on the spot. Now it’s time to make things official in both of our worlds.
“I have something I want to ask you.” My heart is pounding so loud, it’s a wonder she can keep her head on me.
“You can ask me anything.” The smile in her voice does nothing to ease my nerves.
Unwrapping her arms from around my waist, I back up a step.
Her expression darkens with worry. “Is something wrong?”
I shake my head, swallowing my nerves. As I kneel, her eyes widen.
Another boom of motorcycle engines draws near, and I’m thinking about bad timing when the sound stops abruptly.
I consider it good luck and pull the small box from my pocket. Opening it, I hold it toward Daile. “Daile Whittaker, I know my world is strange to you. I know you hadn’t dreamed of a life with a shifter. Despite that, you love me as I love you, and that’s a kind of miracle in my mind. Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?”
There’s a short pause where all the air sucks out of the world and my heart stops beating.
A tear tumbles over her bottom eyelid, followed by a second as her lips pull into a spectacular grin. “Of course, I’ll marry you. Yes. Yes.”
I wrap her in my arms and swing her around the porch.
A great cheer rises from the street where Jude and a dozen club members are sitting on their motorcycles, watching my proposal. After a short round of congratulations, they start their engines and ride off, cheering as they leave.
Daile blushes and covers her cheeks with her hands. “I didn’t know we had an audience.”
“I’d do it again with the whole town watching.” I kiss her, slipping my tongue inside for the addictive taste of her and being rewarded with a sigh as she relaxes against me.
Her hand wraps around the back of my neck and she toys with my hair as her body molds to mine. She breaks the kiss. “I’d say yes in front of the entire town or the world, Jorge.”
I take the ring from the box and slide it onto her finger.
Grinning, she examines the round-cut diamond. “It fits.”
“I borrowed one of your rings to get it sized.” I was going to wait until much later, but I want to feel her legs around my panther as we run through the woods. “Wait right here.” I go inside and grab the backpack I organized earlier.
Back on the porch, I hold out my hand. “Where we’re going is farther than most of the pack ever travels. I found it when I was avoiding them.”
“Do I need to bring anything?” She looks back at the front door.
“Nope, I’ve got what we need.” I pat the backpack.
We walk hand in hand down the street to the woods.
“What’s in that pack?” Always so curious.
I have so much to show her, and I can’t wait to see what she’ll paint afterward. “A change of clothes for me, a blanket, a bottle of the wine you like, and plastic cups.”
“Will you be needing clothes?” She winks. It’s playful and adorable.
I shrug. “Maybe not, but it’s good to be prepared.”
There’s a walking path that runs about a mile into the woods. The pack doesn’t use it much. They have a parking area where they leave bikes and clothes. When I run with them, I use that too, but tonight, I don’t want to share my run with anyone but Daile.
At the end of the path, I draw her into the woods, but only about a hundred feet, where there’s a large boulder amongst the tall trees. “Are you ready?” I hand her the backpack.
She watches as I step out of my shoes and strip. Touching my chest, she runs her hand across, then down along my ribs. “I like running with you so far. I like it very much.”
My cock is at full attention, but this place is too close to town for lovemaking in the open. Pushing aside my raging desire for the woman I love, I shift.
Stepping back, she cocks her head. “You’re so gorgeous.” Slowly, she reaches out and runs her fingers through the fur on my head.
I purr and turn my head for more. She pets my cheek, and it’s delightful. Wanting more, I turn so that she runs her hand along my back. Her fingers are magic.
Lowering so she can straddle me, I wait until she grabs hold of my neck. Her body feels like heaven sprawled across my beast. I should have packed clothes for her as well. Another night, I’ll feel her naked against me as I run through the forest.
She makes a low hum and rubs herself against me. “You feel soft and sensual.”
I roar and break into a trot. Once I find an animal trail, I turn on the speed.
Riding like she was meant to be there, she laughs and holds me tighter. Her thighs clench around me and a low moan reaches my ears. “The way your body moves is so sensual, Jorge. I’m so wet, I may come before we get where we’re going.”
Another roar and I move as fast as I can while keeping her safe.
The moon barely gets through the canopy of summer leaves as I wind around trees, bushes, rocks, and underbrush. After several miles, I have to slow as we climb over a hill and into a rocky ravine. Water from an underground spring trickles at the bottom, and I pad forward in the same direction. At the end is a clearing where the water forms a pond that is surrounded by boulders and trees. At one end is a soft green plot of clover. I stop and lower so she can dismount.
A soft sigh accompanies her movement.
My panther watches, not quite ready to give up dominance as she opens the pack and spreads the blanket.
Lying in the center, she reaches her arms out to me.
Purring, I lay beside her and rub my fur along her skin.
She snuggles against me, kicking off her shoes. “This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.”
The full moon shines down through the break in the trees and reflects in the pond.
Running her fingers through the fur along my side and belly brings more purring. When she breaks the contact, I open my eyes to see her standing over me, pulling her shirt over her head.
“Before you shift, I want to feel your fur on all of me. Is that okay?” She pulls off her socks.
I lick her feet, and she laughs before stripping out of her jeans and underwear.
Beautifully naked in the moonlight, my Daile is a goddess.
Not wanting to break the spell, I stay perfectly still and let her fold her body around me. “This is wicked and delicious.”
It’s only when I can’t take it anymore that I shift into a man. “You’re driving me wild.”
Pushing my chest until I’m on my back, she straddles me. “You are wild.”
My cock splits her wet folds, and she rolls her hips while making the most alluring sounds.
In my mind, I thought we’d go slow, have wine, and gaze at the moon, but this is far surpassing my imagination.
Daile rises to her knees and impales herself on my shaft with a soft cry. Her head thrown back, she rides me like a Valkyrie.
I grip her hips and help set the pace while the rush of pleasure already tingles at the base of my spine. “My love, you cannot know how good you feel. I may not last long after that fucking ride.”
Moaning, she smiles and rocks back and forth, then quickens her pace. Taking me in and rising. Gravity brings her around me and every time I fill her, she cries, sighs, or moans my name.
As the tingle grows, I press my thumb against her clit and rub a circle at the same pace as our lovemaking.
“Jorge. I. Oh. God.” Her body tightens around my cock as my orgasm crashes and I fill her.
Collapsing onto my chest, she kisses my chin. “Let’s do that every night. I want to feel your feline spine against my pussy and then make love in the woods. That was amazing.”
Still inside her, my cock hardens more quickly than I would have expected. I arch into her. “I am at your command, goddess.”
She moans. “I’m no goddess. I’m just a woman. How are you hard again?”
“Do you want me to pull out?” I can convince her of her status later. I have a lifetime to show her how magnificent she is.
“No. Never.” She threads her fingers through my hair and slides her tongue inside my mouth.
Rolling her to her back, I make love to her mouth as I make love to her body.
Daile wraps her legs around mine and tips her hips to bring me deeper. Nothing and no one could ever feel this good. Breaking the kiss, I bite her neck gently and then lower to her tit. I suck the nipple hard and she screams, biting my shoulder.
Her body pulses with another orgasm and pulls me over the edge with her.
Catching my breath, I roll us to our sides.
Leg’s entwined with mine, she rests her cheek on my chest. “I love you, Jorge.”
My life went from survival to perfection when I met Daile Whittaker. If it were possible, I’d never leave this pond and this moment. “I love you too, Amante. I will love you for a hundred lifetimes, my mate.”
Thank you for reading Jorge and Daile’s story. I hope you love them as much as I do. Need more shifter stories? I think you’ll enjoy Soul of a Wolf from The Brothers of Scrim Hall series.
Soul of a Wolf
Silas
My gardens are my life. I design and create them. When my wolf needs to run, there’s plenty of space around Scrim Hall. The rest of the time, my life is semi-normal. At least it was until my landscape supplier retired and his granddaughter took over the business. I can’t stay away from the fiery goddess. Now that I have her scent, my beast wants more, and I can’t deny the wolf.
Lucinda
I’ve never met a man as ferocious or as attractive as Silas Dimitri. My brain says run. My heart says he’d catch me—and I’d like it. I’m only supposed to deliver plants to the mysterious mansion in the woods, but arriving at Scrim Hall is like falling into the rabbit hole. However, my wonderland is filled with pleasures beyond the imagination, and I don’t think I want to go home.
Thanks for riding with the Devil’s Pack!
