Chapter 23 #2
“You’re so damn extra.” Nyelle tossed back her shot, feeling the burn as well before she lifted the bottle of Henny and headed toward her living room.
She eased into the corner of her love seat followed by Ria who landed in the center of her sofa while Joi followed right after carrying the C?roc and mini cans of ginger ale.
After she positioned the bottle and cans on the coffee table, she flopped down across from Nyelle.
“So, who’s starting this therapy session?” Joi asked, cracking open one of the cans of ginger ale and pouring a little in her glass before she topped it off with C?roc.
“This isn’t a damn therapy session.” Ria reached for the Henny and filled her glass, pushing the bottle toward Nyelle when she was done. “This is girls’ night.”
“Right hoe, translation therapy because I got issues and I can’t tell nobody my business but y’all,” Nyelle said, pointing at both women.
“You’re right. You can get that,” Ria stated with a huge grin.
“Well, I’ll start. So I’m trying this whole trust thing but—"
“Ah hell. What did you do now?” Nyelle narrowed her eyes at Joi.
“Not a damn thing. I’m trying to be mature, but I wanted to snatch that hoe up by her hair. You would be proud, I didn’t.” She shrugged and lifted her glass to her lips, sipping slowly.
“What hoe?” Ria questioned with raised brows.
“East asked me to meet him at the shop last night right before closing and when I got there he had some thick, ugly hoe in his chair. Clearly she wanted to fuck and wasn’t trying to hide it.”
“Ugly?” Nyelle peered at Joi who rolled her eyes.
“Okay so she wasn’t ugly, but still.”
Ria and Nyelle both laughed. “Exactly or you wouldn’t have been worried about trying to snatch her up.”
“My point is, these women have no respect for another woman’s space.”
“Sooooo, you’re claiming East because I assume he’s what you mean by your space?” Ria angled her head to the side, waiting.
“Yes, I’m claiming him, and yes, that’s exactly what the hell I mean. Even when I got there and he made it clear that he wasn’t dealing with her like that, she was still trying.”
“Well just be glad he did his part. The problem would be when he’s entertaining it.”
“He did entertain it. He cut the hoe’s hair.” Joi was annoyed by it but understood. It didn’t mean she liked it.
“Girl, you better get used to it. That man is fine. Like ‘where you been all my life, skip the condoms so I can have all your babies’ kinda fine. Women are gonna be on his dick twenty-four-seven.” Ria spoke with a little more behind her words than Joi liked and had both her and Nyelle glaring at her.
“What, the man is fine? Say he isn’t and you’re lying. I’m just calling it like I see it but I’m in a different lane. I have my own situation who has all my attention,” Ria assured, mentioning Dix.
“You better make sure that’s where your attention is,” Joi warned.
“Girl, don’t do me. You’ve seen my man. I’m good with what I have.”
“Your man? Your man as in Dixon?” Joi questioned, causing Ria to smile hard before she attempted to hide it by biting down on her lip.
“Yes, my man. We’re doing a little something but we’re just kinda rolling with things. No pressure on either side.”
“Oh, so you dumped Daddy and got you a Zaddy?” Nyelle tossed out, causing Ria’s eyes to roll.
“Something like that. But he’s cool, I like him.”
“And fine. Kinda rugged fine but still fine,” Joi added.
“Oh, so you can speak on my man, but I can’t speak on yours?” Ria’s head angled to the side while she peered at Joi.
“I’m just saying. You all up in her business like you’re trying to hop on the dick. I was just stating that your man is nice.”
“Both of y’all are tripping,” Nyelle added. “That’s dude that’s cool with Vega, right?”
“Yeah, you know him?” Ria was curious.
“Not like that but I met him today. He’s a little chocolate cutie. He had his son with him. That damn child looks just like him. I swear Dixon spit that boy out like he doesn’t have a mother.”
“He has one, trust, and she’s annoying as hell. Every time he has his son, she calls every ten minutes like that man doesn’t know how to raise his son.”
“Does he?”
“He’s cool when I’m around and Des loves his father, so yeah. But his baby mama is a little off. They can’t be around each other. You know he did two years because of her.”
“For real?” Joi didn’t know much about him and neither did Nyelle.
“For fucking real. They got into it bad and she lied when they went to court. She had the chance to drop the charges, but she didn’t, and when he got out, he refused to fuck with her anymore.
They don’t even see each other to drop off their son.
His mom and sister do it. Shit is crazy,” Ria stated, thinking about the few times she’d been around him when he had his son.
“Damn, that is crazy, but why she mad though? It’s her fault.”
“True,” Ria stated.
“But did he really assault her?”
“No, they shoved each other around but she blacked his eye and knocked out one of his teeth because he wouldn’t fight her back.
He didn’t want to put his hands on a woman, especially not the mother of his son, but when they went to court she lied and said he beat her all the time.
He had drugs on him when they locked him up, so he did two years.
She even called him when he got out, crying on a message, saying she was sorry she lied but there wasn’t anything he could do about it. He played the message for me.”
“These women are doing entirely too much,” Nyelle stated, thinking of her own situation with Reese.
Michelle used to blow her phone up until she blocked her.
Then she started tagging Nyelle in pictures on Instagram until she blocked her there.
It was insane how crazy she acted. “Like Michelle’s dumb ass.
You show up at my job carrying my man’s baby, then, when he leaves me for you, you’re blowing up my phone and tagging me in shit on social media when I’m not paying you any mind.
I’m like you got him, why you so worried about me?
Go be with him, boo. I was just laid back over here living my life and raising my son. ”
“She was blowing you up because she knows he don’t really want her.
He wants you. He just fucked up too bad to get you back and she has to live with that.
That woman isn’t crazy. You lose ’em how you got ’em and you will always be worried about the fact that he really didn’t want you.
He just got stuck with you because you didn’t swallow.
” Joi shrugged and Nyelle and Ria both laughed, shaking their heads.
“Facts, boo. But it’s all good. The only thing I want from Reese is for him to be a father to his son. He’s already on some dumb shit with his role in Nick’s life but wants to be all up my ass because I’m moving on. Just be a man about your shit, homie.”
“He can’t do that. He’s stuck in his feelings with the realization that he lost a good thing. Trust me, it’s the same reason Reg is acting dumb.”
“Well they both better figure it out. I’m over it and them.”
“Hell, me too,” Joi stated firmly. “So that means you’re going to work things out with Vega?”
Nyelle shot her eyes over to Ria. They were still new and she wasn’t sure how much she wanted her to know about her situation.
“We’re figuring it out. I have to think about Nick, but I know I want to be with Vega. I also know Reese is going to act a damn fool, so I have to be smart.”
“I feel you. Which is why we need to turn up and drink our problems away.” Ria turned up her glass and emptied the brown down her throat before leaning forward and wrapping her hand around the bottle to refill her glass.
Joi followed her lead and emptied the rest of hers before grabbing the C?roc while Nyelle grabbed her phone to connect to her Bose speaker to play music.
It had been a while since the women had a good chill session, so it was long overdue, and they planned on making the most of it.
East stepped out of the car Cabo had sent for him, allowing his eyes to roam the parking lot and building.
There were cars everywhere with an equal amount of bodies cluttering the entrance to the small establishment.
With all the movement going on, East was grateful Cabo had sent his private jet after requesting a sit down.
It allowed him the ability to travel with his Beretta, giving East a mild sense of comfort.
Being in a foreign place meant he didn’t know the people or the area.
Although he wasn’t the type to be concerned about others, his current situation left him at a disadvantage.
There were too many people and too much movement for East’s liking, but being a man of his word, he headed toward the building regardless.
Once inside East moved straight to the bar as instructed, where he asked the bartender to locate Cabo for him.
With a slight motion of her head and the extension of a long, wine-colored fingernail, East was directed to a small booth in the back.
As he moved closer, East realized Cabo wasn’t alone.
Joi’s aunt Ava was across from him, causing East to groan under his breath.
This wasn’t a social visit and he wasn’t in the mood to be social.
East had no issues with Ava specifically, but he was positive she had issues with him.
Issues that were none of her concern nor was he going to discuss.
“Right on time.” Cabo stood and extended a hand to East, which he accepted and shook. Ava was next to speak.
“It’s good to see you again, Eastland.” East’s face tightened at her reference to his complete name, but it pushed a smile on Ava’s face before she explained. “Joi told me. I was curious as to why they called you East. It’s a rather interesting one. Family name?”
Yeah, from the asshole that donated sperm for me. Nothing I claim with pride.
