EPILOGUE

“What are your plans for the day?”

I looked up at Rin and smiled before I said, “I’ve got a meeting with the board this morning. Your papa should be here to pick me up any minute now.”

“Want me to take Roman to the shop with me?”

“You can! That would give Murielle some time off, and I’m sure she’d appreciate that.”

Rin closed his eyes and shook his head slowly before he said, “My family bought us diapers and clothes while your dad sent a nanny. Our families are very different.”

“They are different but still similar.”

“Not even close, babe,” Rin argued as he pulled me into his arms. “Did you sleep well last night?”

“I did. Thanks for taking care of Roman and letting me get some rest.”

“I did have a hand in creating him, so I think it’s only fair that I get up with him during the night.”

I glared at him before I said, “Your part of the process took about three seconds, but mine . . .”

“Hey! That only happened once!”

I pushed at Rin’s shoulder before I said, “You know what I mean.”

“I know you did all the hard work. I just get all the credit because he looks like me.”

“Handsome boy,” I said wistfully as I looked over at our son who was sleeping in his swing.

“I feel kind of bad. I got more sleep than you may think.”

“How?”

“When he woke up about one, he was being extra loud, so Sully came upstairs to make sure everything was okay. He took over and rocked him while I napped on the couch in the nursery.”

“Cheater!”

“Hey! Park tagged in and helped you just the other day!”

“Because Roman pooped everywhere and you couldn’t quit gagging long enough to help me clean it up!”

Rin shuddered before he said, “It was so much easier before he started eating real food.”

“In your defense, Ciro and Sully wimped out too.”

“We’ve all got our strengths and weaknesses, right?” Rin asked with a grin.

“Speaking of weaknesses, make sure you eat something on your way home. It’s Sully’s turn to cook.”

Rin grimaced before he asked, “Whose bright idea was it for us to rotate that task?”

“He’s getting better!”

“The last time he cooked, I found Park outside scarfing down a cheeseburger after he met the DoorDash guy at the end of the driveway.”

I giggled before I asked, “Did you ask him for half?”

“The asshole wouldn’t share,” Rin muttered.

Just then, the doorbell rang. I gave Rin one more kiss before I rushed around the counter to kiss our son goodbye again. I heard Sully talking to Papa and looked over to find that he and Park were on their way out.

Over my shoulder, I called out, “Love you!”

“Love you, too, babe. Knock ‘em dead in your meeting!”

“Thank you,” I said as I walked through the door that Derek was holding open for me. “Don’t forget that it’s Sully’s turn to cook tonight.”

I bit back a laugh when I heard Park groan, but Papa wasn’t nearly as nice and burst out laughing. By the time I got to the truck, I could hear Park and Sully bickering on their way to Park’s car and smiled at how happy they seemed together.

It wasn’t a normal household by any means, but it was our life and we loved it.

I wouldn’t change a thing.
