Chapter 11

Ringo

T he abandoned building loomed in the distance, with its broken windows and crumbling walls that should have been torn down years ago.

As we approached the edge of town, we park the bikes so that we could get closer to the building without anyone inside knowing we were there.

My heart pounds in my chest, every muscle in my body coiled tight with anticipation of what needed to be done. Remmy was in there somewhere, and I wasn’t leaving until I had him safe again.

The guys flank me, their expressions grim and focused ahead of us. We’d done this sort of thing before, but it had never been this personal for me.

The stakes had never been this high before and I briefly wondered if this is how some of my club brothers have felt when their wives were in so much danger.

Prez motions for us to fan out soon as we’re through the gate, surrounding the building from all sides. Snake stays close, his laptop tucked under his arm, ready to jam any signals or tap into any systems we might need.

As we near the entrance, I catch a glimpse of movement through one of the broken windows. There were more of them but we expected that.

This was going to be messy, but we didn’t have a choice. We had to take them out, one by one, until we got to Remmy.

I make my way around to the back, Torque and a couple of the others close behind me. From our vantage point, I could see them inside.

Four men, each armed, patrolling the perimeter. My gut twists with rage. These bastards were here to back up Kimmie’s ex, and that meant Remmy was in serious danger.

Torque and I exchange a look, a silent agreement passing between us. We knew how to move, how to strike fast and hard without giving them a chance to react.

The first guy didn’t even see it coming. Torque circled around him, grabbing him from behind, while I moved in with a quick, sharp jab to the side of his neck. He goes down without a sound, his weapon falling from his hand. We quickly drag him into the shadows so no one can see him.

We work our way around the building, taking out every man that we encounter. Each one gets me closer to one ultimate goal. To get Remmy back. I knew Hugo was inside, and I wasn’t sure how many more men he had with him.

Finally, we make it to the entrance. The door is ajar, light spilling out into the night. I motion for all the guys to hold their positions, peeking inside just enough to get a sense of the layout.

Standing near the center of the room, a gun in one hand, Remmy in the other was the one man that would feel my absolute wrath. My heart nearly stopped when I saw the boy. His fear clearly shining on his face.

Hugo wasn’t alone in here though. Three more of his men flanked him, their eyes scanning the room, alert and ready. But they didn’t yet know we were here. They had no clue about what was coming at them.

Ducking back outside, my mind races. We had to be smart about this. A frontal assault would put the kid at risk, but if we didn’t move fast, the situation could escalate.

I look at Torque and Snake, my voice low and urgent. “We take out the guards first. As quietly as possible. Then we go for him. No mistakes.”

They both nod, understanding the gravity of what we were about to do because they both have been in this same position.

We move as one, slipping into the building with deadly precision. The first guard doesn’t have time to react before Torque has him on the ground, disarmed and unconscious.

The second one turns just in time to see Snake coming at him, but not fast enough to stop the blow that knocked him out cold.

That left one more guard and Hugo. I signal to the others to hold back, slowly creeping forward alone. I have to take this last guy out without alerting Hugo.

The guard is standing near a stack of crates, his back to me. I move in silently, my hand ready on the hilt of my knife.

Just as I get within striking distance, the floor creaks beneath my foot. The guard spins around, but I’m faster.

Grabbing him by the throat and pulling him back, my knife at his neck. He struggles, but only for a moment before I silence him. A small gurgling sound passing through his lips.

Hugo was still oblivious of us being there, his focus entirely on Remmy, who is trembling in his grip.

The sight of that bastard holding him like that, threatening him, makes my blood boil within my veins.

I want to rush in, to tear him apart limb by limb for putting Remmy through this. His own son for fucks sake! But I had to be smart. One wrong move, and the kid could get hurt.

I signal to the others, letting them know it's time. Torque and Snake move in from opposite sides, while I step into the light, drawing Hugo’s attention.

His eyes widen when he sees me, a sneer curling his lips. “Let me guess, you’re the newest dumbass stupid enough to stick his wick where it doesn’t belong.” he spits, tightening his grip on Remmy. “You should’ve stayed out of this.”

“Let him go,” I growl, my voice low and dangerous. I keep my hands steady, ready to draw my gun if I have to, but not wanting to escalate things too quickly. “This ends now.”

He laughs, a cold, cruel sound. “You really think you can take me down? I’ve got more men close by, and when they hear you, you are done.”

“Your men aren’t coming,” Torque says, stepping into view with his gun trained on the Hugo. “We’ve already taken care of them.” He smiles wickedly as Hugo’s eyes widen at the realization.

He hesitates, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for at least one of his men. But there was none. He was surrounded, outnumbered, and outmatched even if he didn’t know it.

He falters, and I see the fear flicker in his eyes. But instead of surrendering, he pulls Remmy closer, his gun pressing against the boy’s temple. “I’ll kill him,” he snarled. “I swear I will.”

Remmy squeezes his eyes shut, crying silently.

My heart stops. Every muscle in my body tensing, but I force myself to stay calm, to think things through. “You don’t want to do that,” I say, my voice steady. “You hurt him, and there’s no going back. Besides, he’s your son!”

Remmy’s eyes pop back open at my statement, his wide eyes colliding with my own. It only just occuring to me that it’s possible he had no idea before this moment how fucked up his own father truly was.

For a moment, it looked like Hugo might listen to what I’m saying, like he might let the kid go. But then, in a sudden, desperate move, he shoves Remmy away and raises his gun, aiming it right at me.

My gun is in my hand in an instant, and I fire before he does.

Hugo staggers back, his gun clattering to the floor in front of him as he falls as well. The shot hitting him in the shoulder, not fatal but enough to drop him.

Torque is on him in seconds, kicking the gun away and restraining him. Snake rushes to Remmy, who had fallen to the ground, sobbing from fear. I hurry over, dropping to my knees beside the boy, my eyes racking over him to check for any injuries.

“Remmy,” I whisper, pulling him into my arms. “It’s okay, buddy. You’re safe now. You’re safe.”

He clings to me, his small body trembling against mine. I hold him close, feeling a wave of relief so intense it nearly knocks the breath right out of me.

I look up at Torque, who was securing Hugo, and then over at Snake, who was already calling the others in to let them know the situation was now under control.

It was over. Remmy was safe, and Kimmie’s ex was finally disarmed and out of the picture.

“Nice work guys. Is your kid alright Ringo?” Prez asks and I do notice him calling the kid mine.

A sense of pride washes over me. I’d be more than fucking proud to have Remington as my son.

“He’s not hurt. Can we get someone to take him back to the cabin? I’m sure Kimmie is worrying herself into a panic.”

“NO! I want to stay with you!” Remmy cries out before the Prez can answer, hiding his face in my chest.

“Remmy, look at me son.” I demand, pulling back from him so that I can see his eyes. “Your mom needs to see you, okay? She’s worried about you.”

“But she’ll make me leave! That’s why I ran away. I didn’t want to leave. Then these men grabbed me in the woods!”

Realization finally dawns on me and I sigh heavily.

“You’re not leaving okay?” I finally say.

“You promise?” His eyes, still full of tears, look at me with hope.

“Yeah, son, I promise.” He grabs me in a tight hug and I embrace him back.

A few minutes later, I send him on his way with one of the guys back to the cabin. Once they are out of sight, I turn back to the asshole still on the floor.

“What do you want to do, Ringo?” The Prez asks.

I look around the room until I spot what I’m looking for on the other side of the room. Looking back at Hugo, a slow menacing grin spreads over my face as I answer my Prez.

“Can someone please bring me that pipe?” I point in the direction I mean and I hear someone walk over there, then coming back, handing me the pipe in question.

Taking it in my hand, I look it over thoroughly, ensuring myself it’s small enough to fit but large enough he’ll know it’s there.

“What the fuck you going to do with that?” Hugo snarls.

“Exactly what you did to a young girl. To probably quite a few young girls.” I answer, his eyes going wide.

“Probably boys too I’d imagine. These pervs aren’t too particular.” Snake’s lip curls in disgust.

“I’ll go call for some help to clean up.” The Prez says, excusing himself from the room.

Once he’s gone, I order the few still in the room to tie Hugo face down across an old table still in the room. He tries to fight, but he’s no match for my club brothers.

Taking my knife from my pocket, I grab the back of his pants, making a large slice down the middle, exposing his nasty looking ass to the air. He’s screaming the whole time.

“Anyone see something we can stick in his mouth? No sense in waking up the whole town.” I chuckle.

“How about this? It should work perfectly.” Torque says jovially, handing me an old piece of cloth he found on the floor. It’s covered in dirt and rat feces.

With a grin, I start shoving it into his mouth, careful to not get my fingers too close.

“There. That’s better.” He struggles even more now, the table creaking from his weight on it. I line the pipe up in the middle of his ass and give it a heaving shove.

It does not go in easily so I get behind it and kick it with my foot. Each tiny shove forward, he howls in pain. I don’t stop though, I continue to kick it in, inch by little inch until he’s no longer screaming. He’s no longer moving.

I’m breathing heavily by the time that I’m done and he’s no longer breathing. Satisfaction zips through me knowing this mother fucker will never hurt another person, especially a child.

Looking around at my club brothers who are standing around with bored expressions, I begin to laugh, drawing all of their attention.

“Why the fuck you laughing?” Torque demands.

“I’m laughing because even with everything I just did to this piece of shit, all of you look bored as fuck.”

“Well that’s normal, right? We’re all normal, right?” Snake asks with an honest expression and I can’t stop the laughter from my mouth.

“Fucking hell, let’s go home.” I announce, heading out the door. My club brother’s right behind me.
