14. Camden #2

Should I have bought him a lap dance?

Luke’s dancer was bigger than mine. Bigger than me, actually.

He picked up Luke, with what seemed like no effort, and hauled him onto the stage.

Everyone in the club, of course, recognized Luke.

Big Guy called the other dancers onto the stage and they challenged Luke to a dance off.

When Luke inevitably won in a totally not planned way, Big Guy presented him with a gold trophy and then proceeded to grind on him some more in front of everyone to a dance mix of Queen’s We Are the Champions.

Not your typical stripper song, but Big Guy made it work.

When the song and dance were over, Big Guy picked Luke up in a fireman’s lift, carried him down off the stage, and placed him gently back in his seat. I heard him lean in and say, “If you want to meet me later, my name’s Brandon. Here’s my number.”

The growl that came from my throat was enough for Colton to hear over the music. “Down, boy.” He glared at me.

I glared back. “What?”

“Someone can’t hold their liquor.”

“I dunno what you’re talkin’ ‘bout.”

“Mm-hmm. You’re startin’ to talk like me, sugar.”

“I’m fotally tine. Sotally fine.” I scoffed and straightened my expression. “I’m good, Colt.”

“Sure, you are. Did you just call me Colt?”

“Like a horsey!”

“Okay, you’re switching to water.”

“Okay, Mom.”

“Alex, watch Cam. He needs supervision.”

Alex slid his seat closer to me. “What have you been up to, Cam? Causing trouble?”

“Nope.” Not at all. My eyes shot daggers into Brandon’s back. For about three seconds, and then his ass was climbing the stairs, and I forgot why I was mad.

And I was hard again.

“Drunk Cam is somethin’ I’m happy to be sober for,” Colton said.

“Yeah, whatever,” I said, clinging to his frame for support. “How’d we get here, anyway?”

“Thank God Almighty, we didn’t have to walk. Luke got us a taxi.”

“Where’re the guys?”

“We’re here,” Alex answered.

I swayed around to see Alex holding Orion up.

I turned my head to stare at Colton. “See. I’m not the only one needs help.”

“Hm-mmm. Well, Orion’s never had a drink before. He’s got an excuse. What do you got?”

“A hard dick.” I laughed in his face.

“Just because a chicken has wings don’t mean it can fly, Cam.”

“My dick’s not a chicken.”

“Sweet Jesus, I wish I was recordin’ this so I could show it to you tomorrow.”

“Yeah, bend over and I’ll show you something.”

Ugh. What the fuck?

“Morning, stud. How we feelin’?”

“Go away.”

“That good, huh? You look like death warmed over. Here, drink this entire bottle and take these.”

I slowly opened my eyes to see Colton crouching next to my bed clad in blue briefs, holding out a bottle of purple Gatorade and two aspirin.

“What did you do to me?” I barely croaked out, pushing my hair out of my face.

“What did I do to you? You’re the one that pounded the drinks back last night, buddy boy. I couldn’t stop you, especially after Brandon flopped his junk all over Luke.”

“Oh no. Was it bad? Did I make a fool of myself?”

“Honestly?”

Oh fuck.

“Nah, I’m fuckin’ with you, Cam. You were a little jealous at the club, but I don’t think Luke noticed. You fell asleep in the cab. It was worse when we got back to the village.”

I took the pills and chugged the Gatorade. “Where’s my medal?!” I asked, panicking.

“Right here.” Colton stood up and retrieved it from the living area.

I slammed my head back onto the pillow, relieved.

“Come on, let’s get you into the shower. You’ll feel better.”

Reluctantly, I swung my legs out from under the blankets and slowly stood up. “Did you undress me last night?” I asked.

“You must’ve done that yourself. I just took you to the be-”

Colton caught me as I stumbled over my clothes on the floor.

“I’m gonna walk you to the shower.”

“Oh, my god...I’m sorry if I said something about my dick to you last night,” I blurted out, trying to cover it on the way to the bathroom.

“You and I both know one hand ain’t gonna hide that dick.”

I laughed and pulled my hand away, aware that my dick was more awake than me, especially with the attention from Colton.

“And if you wanted me bent over, you missed your chance. This ass is Zeph’s now.”

I pulled ahead of his reach, knowing the thought of Colton in that position was about to make things harder.

I turned the shower on, then poked my head out . “Did I really say that?”

“Among other things.”

“I’m so sorry, Colton.”

“It’s all good. At least you ain’t commode-hugging, knee-walking drunk.”

Oh God.

I turned around and got to the toilet just in time.

“Tell the Lord I spoke too soon. Sorry, Cam.”

“Oh God, it’s purple.”

“Festive.”

Luckily, I only puked once, and I felt much better after the shower. I was starving, in fact.

Colton and I were in the dining hall and I had a plate filled with whole wheat toast, scrambled eggs, two giant pancakes, some sausage, and a bagel with cream cheese. I figured I earned it after yesterday.

A few athletes came up to us while we were eating and congratulated me.

“It was so suspenseful,” one woman said. “I don’t know how you can handle the pressure. Seeing those scores there the whole time.”

I nodded and smiled. That was the sport. Pressure all the time. I still wasn’t sure how it went so well. It must be all the training and hard work, because I had no other ideas. Other than the coin.

“Did I forget to mention we have a team meeting today?”

“What?”

“And training.”

“You’re kidding.”

Colton shook his head. “Check your phone.”

“Thanks for plugging it in, by the way. Did any word of our adventure make it to the press?”

“Nothing yet.”

He was right. A text from Coach. Practice at noon today.

“Were you going to let me eat a whole pig for breakfast?”

“You seemed hungry.” Colton shrugged. “I don’t think Noah is gonna run you into the mats. You just won a silver medal!”

“Shows how little you know him.”
