Chapter Nine Dylan #2

"Hey, guys," Silas greeted us.

"Hi," I purred.

I caught myself after I realized how I said it. This was weird. The anger I felt toward Silas didn't surface. If anything, I wanted to reach across the table and pull him in for a kiss.

Something is wrong with me.

I didn't have time to analyze it. The bell rang for classes to start. Hunter helped me up, and Sera kept looking at me with a weird face.

"You good, Dyl?"

"I don't know. I feel off."

"Maybe you should go up to the infirmary or something then."

I shook my head. "I'm fine. If I still feel like this later, maybe."

She frowned at me. "Dyl, promise you'll go after class if you still feel like this through etiquette."

There was no harm in that. If something was wrong, I needed to deal with it.

I couldn't be walking around feeling off.

What if something like that could stop me from shifting?

That's the last thing I needed right now.

With everything being crazy around school, I needed to be at the top of my game, not feeling wonky.

Sitting in class, I couldn't focus. Having my mates so close by had me rubbing my legs together to feel the friction. Jackson sat beside me and looked in my direction with a lifted brow.

What's going on with you, baby? h e asked me through our bond.

I don't know.

Someone knocked on the classroom door. Lupe stepped through the door, and her eyes found mine immediately. "I apologize for disrupting class. Miss Pierce is needed right now. Can I steal her for a moment?"

My mates growled as I got to my feet. Lupe held her hand up when they got to their feet to follow. "I'm sorry gentlemen, only Miss Pierce may attend this meeting. She will be safe, I assure you."

I heard their snarls and the desks move, and I knew I had to stop them. As I opened up the bonds for me to talk to them, I pushed a calming touch to both of them.

I'll be fine, guys. She'd be stupid to do something to me during school hours.

They growled in my head. You tell us if something happens. Keep the bonds open, Hunter demanded.

I nodded and walked to the door. Lupe stepped out and closed the door behind us.

I waited for her to tell me what this was about, but she didn't seem too keen on giving me that detail.

When we walked down the hall where the council members' offices were, I called on my wolf.

She was close to the surface already, but I needed her power to keep me calm as I felt more secluded.

This felt more like a ploy to get me alone than anything now, and I hated myself for not demanding my mates to come along.

What I didn't expect to happen was for Lupe to walk past her office to another.

The scent coming from the room smelled more of feathers and ozone.

I knew that scent. I hadn't met one personally, but because of this school, I knew at least what they smelled like.

Lupe opened the door and inside sat two women.

Behind the desk was the councilwoman for the angels.

The black hair on her reminded me of a raven's feathers and her ice-blue eyes stared into me like she was staring into my soul. The other was another angel with black hair. She smelled different from the other, more like a hint of brimstone instead of ozone. That made little sense to me, but I knew nothing about angels. She turned to look at me and her eyes were also blue. They were more bright than pale like the councilwoman’s .

There was also a male angel standing behind the councilwoman.

The councilwoman stood up and smiled at me.

"Morning, Talia. I have brought you Dylan Pierce. She is the powerful werewolf I've been telling you about."

"Hello, Dylan."

"Hi, Councilwoman Talia."

"Oh, you can just call me Talia." She looked up at Lupe. "Thank you, Louve. I'll take it from here."

Lupe didn't argue. She turned and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. I didn't expect her to leave so quickly, and now I was alone in a room with three angels.

This is a weird day.

Talia motioned toward the other female angel. "This is Arabella."

Arabella smiled and gave me a finger wave. "Hi."

"Hi."

I wasn't sure what to do because I didn't know if other species did handshakes. Something I needed to read up on if I was going to continue to interact with other species over the next few weeks.

"You can sit down, Dylan. We called you in today because you can help us with a sensitive topic."

Despite my uneasy feeling, I sat. The chairs in these offices need to be replaced. They were beyond uncomfortable, and it made me want to just stand. My wolf felt the energy coming off the angels, making her uneasy, too. I was uncomfortable inside and out.

"What kind of sensitive topic?"

Talia looked at Arabella. I guess it was to give her the floor because Arabella then turned to look at me. "There's a werewolf causing me some problems since I've arrived here. Frankly, I'm done dealing with it. Your councilwoman won't do a damn thing about it."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "I'm sure she won't. She doesn't seem to do a lot of things she should."

"Well. Now we are taking things into our own hands. She tells us her hands are tied and can't do much about this werewolf stalking and harassing me. We would like you to track him down, incapacitate him, and bring him to us."

My mouth dropped at that explanation. The guy hanging around the angel dorm. That's what this is about. If I had done something that day, I'd already have this wrapped up.

"I think I saw a guard by your dorms. Is that the guy?"

Talia cleared her throat. "He hasn't been at his post in a while. He's abandoned his post to pursue Arabella."

I frowned. This was not good. That meant this dude was fixated, like Camilla had been. If someone doesn’t take care of him soon, he’ll go full feral, and it will be a nightmare to stop.

"Understandable. I'll report this to my mates so they can help me. One of them has experience with keeping our kind under control. I'm sure he can be more help than even me to find this guy. Are you staying inside your dorm? Because I wouldn't recommend that."

"No. I have business elsewhere."

"Good."

"You will do this for us?" Talia asked me.

Usually, I'd respond immediately to that.

However, I had angels asking me to help.

Right now, I was in a fight for this school to bring down a dangerous person.

Between that, classes, juggling two mates and keeping Silas at arm's length, I had my hands full.

Yet, I couldn't bring myself to tell them no.

I'm supposed to be an alpha, and alphas help those around them.

If I turned them away right now, I wouldn't be the person I always thought I'd be.

Then I had to think about the perp being a werewolf.

Lupe won't do a damn thing to stop Noah from chasing Arabella.

She hasn't yet, and the guy has been after her since the term started.

I should have brought her to the board for that alone.

Arabella needed help. Noah must be going feral if he was chasing after an angel to claim as a mate.

I wasn't even sure if werewolves could claim someone outside of their species.

Would the magic still work to bond them?

Yeah, I need to help.

"Yes. I will help you track down, Noah. Do I bring him to your office when I catch him?"

"If you could detain him in a safe place until Arabella can come down to retrieve him, that would be great," Talia told me.

I looked at Arabella. A twinkle in her eye told me we would be best friends if I spent more time with her.

There was some mischief there, and my mind was turning to tell me a way to contact her that would bypass everyone.

To have a direct link to an angel would be badass.

I could feel her power when standing in the hallway.

"How would you like me to contact you when I have him?"

Arabella cut a look to the councilwoman who, in turn, finally paid attention to the male in the room. He’s much taller than both women, and his forest green eyes rarely strayed from Talia, but I’d caught him making small glances in my direction as if he was trying to decide how to react to me.

“We have an idea. It’s a little unorthodox and rarely occurs in this world; it’s also illegal, and the Seraphim Council as well as your own would be livid if they found out, but you and Arabella can create a bond between you; rather, my mate, Liam, can forge it for you.

It’s not like a mate bond. It is only used to communicate over long distances at any given time, but it requires trust, and if the bond is ever broken, it is extremely painful.

If you are against that idea, then you can just get a message to me, but this other way would be a lot quicker. ”

“I’ve already agreed, if that worries you,” Arabella adds confidently.

It’s almost as if they read my mind. This would be a perfect solution, and we would have a direct link to one another.

At this point I’m not too worried about pissing off the council since our world is changing already.

It would be good to have an Angel best friend, especially one as powerful as she is.

“I’ll do it.”
