"Do not tell his wife to move off that bed," Liam yells at a poor nurse.

I would typically feel bad for the poor kid, but he came in here telling me I had to get off Luka's bed and that he wouldn't be able to heal right with me on the bed.

There was no way I was getting off of this bed.

I am just glad Liam was here to tell him to leave me alone.

Luka has been out of it for hours. I have tried talking to him and yelling at him.

Everyone has come in here and tried to talk him out of it.

Even Skee came in and told me to call him Daddy again, hoping that would snap him out of it.

It didn't work. The nurse's face goes red and he storms out of the room.

"Don't you let anyone take you out of that bed unless you want to get out of it.

Understand, Addy?" Liam moves my hair off of my face.

It's been sticking to my cheeks since they are always soaked with tears.

"I don't understand why he hasn't woken up yet," I whisper and trace my fingertips over Luka's chest.

"I don't know either. I am going to grab some dinner. Do you want something?" Liam asks and I shake my head. I can't even think about eating right now.

"Cara, you need to eat something. You have been lying here for hours. Please come take a walk with me." Nina sits on the chair beside the bed with Luka's hand in hers.

"I am sorry, Nina. I can't leave him. I have tried. I get as far as the door, turn around, and come right back. I promise I will get something to eat when I am hungry."

"Okay, Cara. I need to take Matteo home. He is going to be upset with me, but being in this hospital is no good for him and we can't help Luka."

"Okay, I will call you as soon as he wakes up." I squeeze her hand and she walks out of the room.

"I don't understand why he isn't waking up!

" Callum screams at the Doc. Doc has been here all night.

He hasn't gone home, either. I know he works for the family, but I feel bad for him.

Everyone expects him to have the magical answer.

He keeps telling us that Luka will wake up when he is ready.

I don't understand why it is taking so long. He has been out for hours.

"Callum, it isn't Doc's fault. Why don't you take Layla and Lacey home? I will call you if anything changes. I am sure Layla is tired." They have all been here all night. I know the kids are worn out.

"Are you sure?" Callum kneels next to the bed so he is at eye level with me. "I will send Lacey and Layla home and stay here with you."

"I am sure. Liam is here. So is everyone else. Take the girls home. Love on them for me. Okay?"

"Okay, Addy. Call me if anything changes or you need me to come back." I smile at him and nod.

I finally fell asleep at some point in the night. I wake up to the smell of coffee and a muffin. Augie is smiling down at me. "Figured that if the smell of coffee wouldn't wake him up, at least you would benefit from it." He hands me the coffee as I sit up.

"Thank you. I need this." I take a sip of the amazing goodness.

"How are you holding up?" Augie takes the seat next to me.

"I am okay. I wish I knew why he isn't waking up." I play with the lid of the cup. "I wish he would just wake up."

Gio comes running into the room with CeCe and Romeo. "Addy!" He wraps his arms around me and then I get a hug from CeCe.

"Any change?" Romeo asks as he looks over Luka's machines.

"Nothing yet."

"Jake came by for breakfast this morning.

He told me about the guy who will play Goalie.

I don't like him." Gio scrunches up his nose.

"Jake is mad they won't let them off tomorrow.

" He crawls up into the bed on the other side of Luka and pokes his cheek.

"Zio. It's time to get up. The new Goalie they are going to get to play for you is awful.

Jake was telling me about him at breakfast this morning.

You need to wake up. We need you to win the cup.

" Luka doesn't move and Gio sighs loudly.

"I thought for sure that would work. Zio would hate anyone playing in his crease. "

Everyone leaves, and I am lying next to Luka.

He has been out for almost 24 hours. I push my body to be as close as I can to his without hurting him.

"Luka, I need you to wake up. You promised me you wouldn't leave me.

I need you to keep your promise and wake up now, okay?

" I choke back the tears, but they come anyway.

I don't know how I have any left to give.

But soon, my body is shaking. "Please wake up, Luka. "

I feel his arms tighten around me, and my eyes shoot open as I look at him. His beautiful dark brown eyes look at me with such love. I start crying again. I never thought I would see him look at me like that again.

"I will never leave you, Gattina. I love you." He whispers. His voice is hoarse, so I grab some water off the table. I let the tears fall freely now, but these are happy tears. I press the straw into his mouth and watch him take a drink. I set the water down and pressed my lips to his.

I pull back and stare into his eyes, "I love you too, Luka."
