Epilogue
Zenia
Three Years Later . . .
I looked down, mushing Sawyer’s short tuft of hair as he kissed my stomach for probably the millionth time.
“Just one more, dad,” the camera man said.
“One more, Daddy!” our two-year-old son, Samuel, squealed.
“Z, we have taken a thousand pictures. My daughter will be here by the time you’re satisfied.”
“Just one more. Sammy was moving.”
“Come on, little guy,” Sawyer said, picking Sammy up and hoisting him onto his shoulders as he squatted in front of me again.
Reaching out my hands, I held onto my son, letting him kiss my cheek as Sawyer kissed my stomach again.
“Perfect!” the camera man shouted.
“Now can we go eat? I’m starving, and I know my babies are too.”
“Yes, thank you for doing this, Sawyer. I know how you feel about taking pictures.”
“I don’t have a problem with doing anything for you, mama.”
“Thank you, baby.”
Out of all people, we were having dinner with Reed and his family. Since my rescue from The Force, he and I had reconciled. I had even become friends with his wife. Our sons had playdates every other week, and I didn’t think I would have had it any other way.
I finally got to put my degree to use, replacing Darius as the director of strategic partnerships for Cashville Resorts and Casino.
Now I got to meet celebrities and big-time clients, charm them out of their socks, and get paid for it.
Sawyer agreed that it was important for me to make my own money, so I didn’t feel like a prisoner to him if things eventually fell apart.
I loved him for it, but I never planned to go anywhere.
If he thought he was leaving me with two small kids, he was out of his mind.
Although my husband of two years had murdered my dad, I talked to my mom about once a month. Even in his absence, The Force made sure that she was well protected and taken care of. That was their way.
Zora and Zuri were doing their own things as they were free to do now.
It took about a year, but I had finally even seen my sister Zara.
I couldn’t tell if she was truly happy or if she was putting up a good front for me, but that was a story for another day.
As for me and my little family, we were living happily ever after.
