50. Huntley

Chapter Fifty

HUNTLEY

Living without her had not been an option.

It wouldn’t have been living at all.

When I heard my phone go off with outside motion at the house and pulled up the camera, my world stopped as I watched a man shoving his way inside.

I was relieved we were back at the fire station and I wasted no time running for my car, screaming at the guys I had to go. Before I even hit my vehicle, my phone rang. Braxton was on the other end. He’d told me all the guys were heading that way along with me.

If it had turned out differently than it had, I wouldn’t be marrying the love of my life.

But she was here with me.

As planned, the following weekend we said I do. There was no way, especially after everything that had transpired, we were putting it off or wasting another minute of our lives.

Our friends were not bent out of shape that they couldn't all be there, but they did have a party planned for two weeks after when everyone could be in attendance. That they wouldn’t budge on and we had agreed .

As for the ceremony, it had only been Lake, Bronson, Stormi, and baby Forrest, along with my mom, Lennon, and Bre.

Oh, and I couldn’t forget Kace and Gyth. Their ladies let them come alone to marry us off at our home, standing next to the lake. Those two were so damn competitive, we couldn’t pick just one. And they didn’t disappoint in the laughter department.

It had been absolutely perfect.

Just like my wife.

Lennon, Bre, and the dog were having a sleepover with my mom. The kids were slowly getting into the grandma thing and it was awesome.

It was our wedding night and my wife had gone all out. I will never forget our first time and her white cotton panties and bra, but when she walked out in a deep purple, lace negligee, I knew both visions would be burned into my brain forever.

Hovering over her, I looked deep into my wife's eyes.

River Valorie Taylor.

She finally had a name she loved. When my mom heard about her never even being given a middle name, she told her if she wanted to take hers, she would love it. My girl hugged my mom, tears pouring down her cheeks. I didn’t think they’d ever let go of each other.

“I love you so much,” I whispered.

Her violet eyes sparkled. “Show me,” she said.

You bet this time I was going to do as she asked.

“Lean up.”

When she did as I asked, I swept her nightie over her head and a groan rumbled in my chest at her naked body underneath.

Her eyes darkened with desire to almost the dark purple of the garment I’d just tossed on the floor as she laid back and I came back down over her.

“Show me,” she said again.

My hand slid down to her core, finding her already wet for me.

“It would be my pleasure, wife.”
