KIERA
At least this time I’m not alone.
As I rode the Gray Ghost out of Valemont, I was much more sure in my movements than I had been after my meeting with Maura. Leo and Spencer took the lead, driving slow and giving me a buffer from other traffic as we drove to the outskirts of town.
But given what we were hauling, no other cars came near us.
Dom followed behind me, dragging Isaac like a tin can tied to a bumper. His cries were just as loud as one, rattling from the raw cavity he used to call a throat.
We drove slow enough to keep him alive, but it was still a matter of minutes before we reached our destination: a tree-lined driveway, a warehouse.
This is where we took Grant.
The place looked so different in the daylight. The looming darkness that lined the property at night was gone, obliterated by sun. There was no need to hide in the shadows anymore now that Isaac’s crimes had seen the light of day.
When we pulled up to the warehouse, one of the loading docks was already open. We rode our bikes up the ramp, parking them in disparate corners of the room while Dom dragged Isaac into the center.
He was barely clinging to life at this point, but that didn’t stop his pathetic muttering. “I did my best, I didn’t — I… I…”
Dom didn’t spare him a glance as she dismounted her bike. From where I stood, a beam of light filtered in through the window, illuminating her broad shoulders.
Her scars.
I watched as she turned her back on her father, crossing toward me while Leo and Spencer got busy unhooking him from the Brabus. She had her eyes locked on a length of chain in the corner of the room, but as she passed by me, I grabbed her arm.
“It’s this one.”
She paused, jaw tensing as she looked down at my fingers on her forearm.
“This is where he took you. The night he tortured you. It was here.”
Her blue eyes flicked up to mine as she cleared her throat. “Zeus owned this place once. But you’ll find that a lot of the property around Valemont is owned by Gray Ghost LLC now.”
“Why?” I blinked. “Why would you want to come back to this place?”
I’d had the same question about the house, but this felt different, darker.
Dom shrugged, her gaze shifting into the distance. “It felt right. To end the cycle of violence here. To bring other men to Justice in the place where mine was stolen from me.”
I nodded, a pulse of raw emotion swelling in my chest as she shifted her arm away, guiding my hand into her palm.
She considered my hand for a long moment before meeting my eyes. “It’s time to end this. For good, this time.”
And as she gave my hand a squeeze, I knew that for better or worse, we were in this together.
