"GO! "* he exclaimed loudly*
" B-but gues-" *he didn't even let me finish*
"I SAID GO, GODDAMNIT!" *his face had this detirmed look on his face, god I hated it.. But I knew I didn't have a choice.. I ran off, clutching my slightly bleeding arm*
That was my biggest mistake.. Leaving him alone.. Why did I listen to him..
Back then:
GuestPOV
I wiped the sweat from my forehead, my breath still coming in sharp gasps. My body ached from another restless night, another endless cycle of memories clawing their way to the surface. I hated it. I hated that no matter how much I tried to bury the past, it always found a way back to me.
The room around me was suffocating. The wooden walls of the cabin, once meant to be a refuge, felt like they were closing in. I needed to get out. I needed air—not that there was much of it in this godforsaken place.
I shoved the blankets off me and swung my legs over the edge of the cot, my feet meeting the cold, uneven floor. My boots, scuffed and worn, lay beside the bed. I slipped them on, lacing them up tightly as if that simple act would somehow ground me.
Standing up, I stretched my stiff muscles before grabbing my jacket. It was old, frayed at the edges, and still had a few dried stains from… before. I tried not to think about it.
I moved toward the door, hesitating for a brief moment before pushing it open.
The landscape outside was as lifeless as ever.
Thick, swirling fog clung to the ground, shifting like a living thing. The sky was a void, an expanse of dark red clouds with no sun, no stars—just an endless, oppressive nothingness. Jagged rock formations jutted out from the ground, their sharp edges looming like broken teeth.
And the silence.
It wasn’t peaceful. It wasn’t comforting. It was the kind of silence that pressed against your skull, that made you feel like something was lurking just beyond the fog, watching, waiting.
I stepped out onto the rough terrain, my boots crunching against the loose gravel.
The air was heavy, thick.. I hated it.. I didn’t know how long I’d been here.
Days? Weeks? Maybe longer. Time didn’t work the same in this place.
Sleep never felt like rest, and waking up only meant facing another day of the same empty landscape.
But I wasn’t alone. Not entirely.. I had the teammates that I feel I must protect at all costs.. Maybe a fatherly instinct?..
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat and kept moving. My footsteps echoed slightly in the vast emptiness, the only sound breaking the eerie stillness.
Then, a noise.
Soft. Faint.
I stopped immediately, my entire body going rigid.
I turned sharply, eyes scanning the mist-covered ground.
Nothing.
The fog curled around my legs, thick and unrelenting. My anxiety was rising.. I wasn’t alone.
A shadow moved in the distance. A flicker of motion in the haze. "Show yourself," I called out, my voice rough, cracked from days—maybe weeks—of dehydration and disuse.
Silence.
Then—
A figure emerged from the fog.
My breath caught in my throat. My muscles tensed, my heartbeat thundering in my ears.
It was him..
- "why so anxious, soldier boy?".. *He approached me slowly.. I was slowly calming down now*
- " just uh.. Needed some fresh air I guess?.." *I lied as I scratched the back of my neck*
Chance looked at me suspiciously
- "I heard you panicking in your cabin... It's not like I cared anyways though-" *he rolled his eyes*
- "I was not panicking.. I don't know what the fuck you are talking about, gambler.. " *I said protectively as I crossed my arms around my chest*
- "yeah yeah whatever soldier boy-" *he said as he idly flipped his coin in his fingers*
- "you should go back to bed.." *I looked up at the sky.. Forgetting it was nighttime 24/7*
- "the only person that should go to bed is you.. You look tired as hell.. " *he looked at me, his sunglasses falling down slightly to the bridge of his nose*
- how annoying can this guy be?! *I thought to myself before I just simply nodded*
Chance also nodded and walked back to the cabin.. Guest just stood there, watching him.. How did chance notice him panicking?.. *he shook his head* why do I even care about an idiot like him..
*after about an hour of just walking around in the dark forest surrounding the cabin, he also returned.. Another pointless night.. A night in this hellhole..
