Chapter 28 #2
“Yeah, night,” Colby says, and then his eyes lock with mine, and his lips part on a gasp.
His feet falter, tripping on the carpet, and I’m rushing toward him before he can fall. He manages to catch himself on the wall, and the door slams closed behind him.
We stand there, silently staring at each other, and I wonder if he can hear how hard my heart is racing.
“Hey,” I say with a crooked smile. “Trying to hurt yourself already? What will the Gargoyles think about that?”
Colby blinks at me, eyes roving over my face like he’s not sure if I’m real or if he’s hallucinating.
“I’m so fucking proud of you, Colbs,” I start, my hand still trembling as I graze my knuckles over his cheek. “Seeing you up there… getting the recognition you deserve… it was one of the greatest moments of my life.”
Colby sucks in a breath, his hazel eyes shining under the low light of the lamp.
“I’m sorry for hurting you. My dad fucked with my head, and I thought I was doing the right thing, but it ended up hurting the most important person in my life.
” I take a step closer and slide my palm along his jaw until my fingertips are buried in the hair on the back of his neck.
“I’m not trying to excuse what I did, and I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you if you’ll let me. ”
I wet my lips and try to resist smirking when his eyes track the movement of my tongue.
“I want your face to be the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. I want to be the person you come home to after a game, knowing you’re safe and protected.”
With a finger under his chin, I tilt his head up with my other hand.
“I want to be your boyfriend, Colbs, whether it’s out loud or in secret. I want to be with you, no matter what, because I love you. I love you so fucking much, it’s like taking a slapshot to the ballsack without a cup when I’m not with you.”
Colby’s lips quiver, and then he bursts out laughing.
Grinning, I take his face in my hands and lean in so close our lips are almost touching.
His hazel eyes sparkle with his smile as he curls his fingers into my shirt.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” he whispers, voice full of wonder.
“I’m sorry it took me so long.”
He shakes his head softly. “No, I get it, but it doesn’t matter now because you’re here.”
“And I’ll be with you in Boston, if you’ll have me.”
Instead of responding with words, Colby answers by sliding his mouth over mine, and his kiss is like breathing in fresh air for the first time in months.
His tongue traces along the seam of my lips, and I open for him.
Our tongues dance as they reunite, and I greedily swallow down every whimper and moan that slips from his throat.
Next thing I know, the kiss goes from slow and tender to desperate.
Colby’s fingers make quick work of my shirt buttons and push it off my shoulders.
The sleeves get caught around my wrists, but before I can undo them, his hands are on my chest, and he’s walking me backward toward the bed.
I fall onto my back when my knees hit the edge, and then he crawls on top of me, and we’re kissing again as he grinds his hard length against mine.
“Take us out, Colbs,” I mumble against his mouth. “Stroke us both like I taught you.”
Colby drags his teeth over my bottom lip before he sits up on his knees.
His fingers shake, fumbling over the buttons as he takes off his vest and shirt.
I flick the buttons on my cuffs and peel off the rest of my shirt, not caring where it lands or how creased it’ll get.
Then I unzip my pants and boxer briefs, pushing them down to mid-thigh.
Colby spits into his hand and wraps his fingers around us both. I moan, arching my hips to thrust into his grip. He takes my mouth in a bruising kiss as he continues to stroke us, chasing down our orgasms that are closing in on us fast.
“I’m not gonna last long,” I warn, feeling the heat licking a path down my spine.
“Same,” he pants and tightens his grip around our shafts.
Colby’s orgasm hits first. Ropes of cum paint my stomach, and it’s all it takes for me to fall over the edge.
He slumps forward, landing on top of me as he gasps for breath. I don’t know how long we lie there, our hearts thundering a synchronized beat.
Sliding my arms around his shoulders, I press my lips to his damp forehead, and I smile as he lets out a satisfied hum.
“Your hair is so long,” I murmur, twisting a strand around my finger.
I feel his smirk against my neck. “Figured it’d give you something to hold on to.”
A bark of surprised laughter escapes me. “Is that why you like mine being long? ’Cause you can hold on to it?”
He snickers against my neck, then kisses the delicate skin of my pulse before shifting down the bed, resting his head over my heart.
“Will you tell me what happened when you were in Arizona?” he asks, trailing his fingers along my bicep.
“I will, but not today,” I reply, not wanting to ruin this moment.
“Did he cut you off?”
“Yeah,” I say, barely above a whisper. “Joey is helping me for a while until I get a job.”
Colby lets out a strained noise, clearly wanting to say more on the matter, but it can wait for another day.
Right now, this is all I need.
Colby, in my arms again, and our entire future ahead of us.
“Come on, let’s take a shower,” I say. I can already feel my eyes growing heavy.
He groans as he pushes himself up, then lets out a snort when he catches the mess. We’re both covered in our cum from where it was squashed between us.
“Filthy,” I tease, giving his ass a playful slap, and the bright grin on his face has my heart skipping a beat.
After we shower, we slip under the sheets. Colby tucks himself against my side, one heavy leg thrown between mine as I wrap my arms around him, burying my hand in his hair. He rests his head on my chest, his soft breaths caressing over my skin.
“I noticed your jersey number,” I say, lightly running my fingertips over his shoulder. “What’s that all about?”
I feel him smile against my chest. “I couldn’t have 12 or 73, so my sister suggested 37, because that way, I get to have you with me all the time, even when I’m on the road.”
My breath catches. “Really?”
“Yeah, I’m kinda annoyed I didn’t think of it first,” he replies, and peers up at me with those hazel eyes that caught my attention that very first day, and my next words leave my lips instinctively.
“I love you.”
His smile grows wider. “I love you too.”
I angle my head down to kiss him and murmur, “You know, we completed your hat trick.”
“Yeah, we did.”
“How about we make a new one?” I ask with a crooked smirk.
“Like what?”
“I don’t know,” I say honestly, massaging his scalp with my fingers. “We can make one when we get to Boston.”
My heart races against his palm as Colby places his hand on my chest. His eyes search mine for a moment before he asks, “Are we really going to do this?”
Pressing another kiss to his lips, I hold him tighter to me and say, “Yeah, Colbs, we are. This is only the beginning of you and me.”
