43. Tessa
TESSA
The bedroom’s in low lamplight and neither of us has said a word since the kitchen.
He’s standing at the foot of the bed watching me, hands at his sides, doing what he’s done all summer—waiting for my line, holding his own leash—and two years of us started with him leading, and eleven weeks of us got rebuilt on him following, and what happens next can’t be either one.
That’s what I figured out on the tile. Doing it right doesn’t mean slow. Doesn’t mean candles or careful. It means true.
And there’s exactly one true thing I haven’t been able to give back to him since a laundry room in June, and I’m going to hand it to him now, on purpose, with the light on.
So I don’t pull him anywhere. I step back out of his reach, and I undress myself.
Slow. Not a show—that’s the whole point, no performance, no angles. Boots. Socks, hopping once, graceless, his mouth twitching. Jeans down and off, already open since the kitchen. Bra. Underwear.
All of it, until I’m standing on the rug we picked out together completely bare, goosebumped head to foot, heart slamming, hiding exactly nothing. Done hiding.
His eyes go down my body and back up like a man reading something he’s memorized anyway, and his jaw is tight as a strut, and his cock is straining the front of his jeans hard enough that it has to hurt, and still he doesn’t move. Doesn’t reach.
Waits.
And I turn around. Face the bed, back to him. And I put my wrists together behind me.
And wait.
The sound he makes. Low, punched out of him, half growl and half prayer—and then I hear it.
The buckle. His belt coming off slow, leather singing out of the loops one at a time, the sound that’s meant safe to some animal part of my brain for two years, the sound I couldn’t hear all summer without my chest caving in.
And for one second I’m back at the first time, a year and a half ago, both of us half laughing, him winding it around my wrists like he was diagramming it, checking two fingers of give, color?
—and me realizing, stunned, somewhere around the second knot, that I’d just handed a man everything and gotten safer.
That memory used to be the crown jewels. Then it spent a summer as evidence. Now it’s a lit match, held right up against the fuse of now.
The leather comes around my wrists. Snug. Two fingers of give—he checks, he’ll check when we’re eighty—and then his voice at my ear, wrecked down to gravel:
“Color.”
“Green.” It comes out already ruined. “Green, Cal. It’s been green. It never stopped being green, that’s the whole?—”
“I know.” His mouth on the back of my neck once, open, hot. “Shut up anyway.”
Then black. Soft black—his t-shirt, scooped up off the hallway floor at some point I never clocked, folded over my eyes and knotted at the back of my head.
New. Further than we’ve ever gone, and every nerve I own reports for duty at once.
No hands. No eyes. Nothing left but skin and hearing and the belt and him, and the dark behind the shirt smells like him, and I’m shaking before he’s touched anything at all.
“Tessa.” His voice moves. He’s circling me, unhurried, boots quiet on the rug—a man walking around a job, taking his time about it because the job’s not going anywhere.
“Here’s how tonight goes. You don’t get to see. You don’t get to move. And you don’t get to come until I’ve watched you beg for it three separate times.”
A pause, right at my ear, and the words drop lower, filthier, each one set down like a part on a clean towel.
“You get to feel exactly how much I still want you. All of it. Every fucking inch of two years and eleven weeks, baby, that’s what’s in this room tonight.
So be a good girl and let me show you what I do with what’s mine. ”
Mine lands somewhere below my navel with its whole weight, heat rolling out from it, and my thighs press together on their own and his hand lands on my hip—ah-ah—and stills them.
“Bold of you,” I manage, blind, shaking, bratty to the last cell, “assuming I’ll beg.”
His laugh, dark and delighted, right against my ear. “There’s my girl.” Teeth on my earlobe, a sting, gone. “You’ll beg. You always beg. You just like making me earn it, and guess what I spent all summer learning how to do.”
He walks me forward by the shoulders. Lays me down on my stomach across our bed, careful with the bound wrists, settling them at the small of my back—and slides a pillow under my hips, tilting my ass up, knees nudged apart with one knee of his, and the position alone nearly finishes me.
Exposed and blind and trussed and tilted, air cool on the wet of me, gift-wrapped for something.
“Look at you,” he says, low, and I can’t, and that’s the point, so he does it for me. “Wrists in my belt. Blind. Pussy already soaked and I haven’t done a goddamn thing yet. You know how many nights I lay in that empty bed thinking about exactly this? Say something bratty now, baby. Go on.”
I open my mouth, and his tongue licks up the whole length of me in one flat hot stripe, and what comes out instead is a sound I’d deny in court.
And then he takes me apart.
Mouth and fingers, from behind, slow—his thumbs spreading me open, his tongue flat and lazy like we’ve got a week, like time happens to other people.
Two fingers curl into me and find the spot on the first pass, first try, because he’s had two years of study and forgot nothing, nothing, and blind, everything’s louder—I can hear how wet I am, hear his fingers working me, hear him groan against my pussy like I’m the meal of his life, the vibration of it going straight up my spine.
His mouth closes over my clit from behind, sucks once, soft, then harder, fingers curling in rhythm, and I’m at the edge embarrassingly fast, thighs starting their traitor shake, heat gathering low and pulling tight, right there, right—He stops. Everything. Gone.
One flat palm pressed warm on my lower back, pinning me gently to the pillow while I buck against nothing and swear into the mattress—“FUCK—Cal—you son of a?—”
“That’s one.” Calm as a man reading a gauge, the bastard, and his palm just rides my spine while the whole build crests and breaks apart with nothing to catch it, aftershocks jerking through my hips. He waits them out like he’s got all night. Then his voice again, low, narrating, filthy.
“You should see what I’m looking at. Tied up in my belt, ass in the air, dripping down your own thighs, cursing me out. Prettiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Say it back.”
“Say what back, you smug?—”
“Say you’re mine.”
“Make me.”
His teeth close on the curve of my ass, sharp enough to arc me off the bed, and I feel him grin against the sting. “Working on it.”
The second build is slower and meaner. Fingers only this time—two, then three, deep and curling and deliberately half a beat off the rhythm I need, his other hand fisted in my hair now, just enough pull to keep my head where he wants it—and he talks the whole time.
Tells me exactly what he’s going to do to me when he finally lets me have it. In detail. In order. How he’s going to flip me over. Where my knees are going. How deep. How hard. How long.
“—and you’re gonna come on my cock with my belt on your wrists and my shirt on your eyes, and the whole street’s gonna know my name by the time I’m done, and then, baby, then I’m gonna—” and it’s a work estimate from hell and my whole body is chanting for it, hips grinding back against his hand, and I’m saying please before I even feel it leaving me—“please, please, fuck, please, Cal, please?—”
“Louder.”
“PLEASE—”
“That’s two.” And gone. Palm flat on my back.
My scream of pure frustration goes into the sheets, muffled, ragged, and his low laugh moves somewhere above me, and I’m past bratty now.
I’m shaking everywhere, sweat-slick, floating in the black behind the blindfold where there’s nothing but his hands and his voice and the ache, and the ache has swallowed the room.
“Color,” he says. Soft. The real him, checking, always checking.
“Green, you evil bastard.”
“Good girl.” And his mouth is back.
The third time he uses his tongue and his fingers together and takes me so close I’m there—the first spark of it actually catching, the drop coming, my whole body locking to take it—and he pulls off, and I sob.
Actually sob, into the mattress, wrists twisting in the leather, everything: “I hate you. I love you. I hate you?—”
“Three.” His body comes down over mine, all of it, all that weight and heat, denim rough against the backs of my thighs—he’s still half dressed, I realize, I’m destroyed and naked and he’s still in his goddamn jeans—and his mouth finds my ear, and the growl in it has gone ragged at last.
He’s not calm. He was never calm. He’s been white-knuckling this the whole time and now I can hear it, the leash creaking.
“Beg me once more, baby. Last one. Not for coming.” His breath shakes. “For me.”
And I do. Blind, bound, tilted, wrecked, and it comes up out of the true place with no brat left on it at all:
“You. Cal. Please. I want you back—all the way back. Come home.”
Everything moves at once.
I’m flipped—his hands sure and easy like I weigh nothing, my bound wrists swung out from behind me and re-pinned above my head, belt and all, in one of his fists before I’ve even finished landing on my back—blindfold still on, jeans gone somewhere in the same three seconds, and he pushes my knees up toward my chest, folds me open, and the blunt hot head of his cock lines up and he sinks into me in one long deep unhurried push, all of it, all of him, and the sound we make together is one sound.
It might be the word finally. It might not be a word at all.
He stills there, buried, breathing like a bellows. “Tessa.” Barely a voice. “Color.”
“Green—green—move?—”
And this time he doesn’t stop.
Hard and steady, folded over me, his fist locked around my wrists above my head and his other hand bruising-tight on my thigh, driving deep enough that I see colors in the blindfold-dark, the headboard keeping time against the wall, and his voice never quits—my name, filth, worship, all of it tangled into the same sentences, mine and good girl and look what you do to me and never again, you hear me, never—and blind, there’s no room anymore, no bed, no summer.
There’s just the building of it, huge, tidal, three denials deep and finally allowed, his cock hitting the exact place his fingers promised, over and over, no mercy in it and no cruelty either, just want with the brakes cut—“Come for me,” he grinds out, wrecked, right against my mouth.
“Now, baby—give it to me—”—and it takes me. All of me.
My whole body locks around him, clamps down, back bowing up off the bed into his weight, his name breaking into pieces in my mouth, and it goes and goes and goes, bigger than anything, wave stacking on wave while he fucks me through every one of them—and I feel him hit the end of his own leash and snap, rhythm breaking, a groan tearing up out of his chest like something structural giving way, and he slams deep and holds there, buried as far as he can get, cum pulsing hot into me, my name coming apart in his mouth for once, his whole big body shaking over mine like something finally, finally landing.
Quiet.
His forehead on my collarbone. Both of us gasping like the drowned.
His hand’s already working the belt loose—even now, even wrecked, wrists first, always, thumbs rubbing slow circles into the red marks the leather left, lifting each hand to his mouth, kissing the inside of each wrist like an apology to it—and then the blindfold comes off gentle, knot picked loose, shirt drawn away, and the lamp is soft and the first thing I see in the whole world is his face an inch from mine.
Ruined. Open. Home.
He pulls the blanket over us without letting go of me. Tucks me into his chest, heart still slamming under my ear, one hand moving up and down my spine like he’s checking every part came through it.
“Cal,” I say. Just that. Barely a question. Mostly a landing.
He answers with his mouth on mine before he answers with anything else—slow, thorough, sealing something. Then, against my lips, wrecked and certain, the actual words:
“I’m home. All the way. Yours.”
