Chapter 13 #2

I frowned slightly. “Did I not tell you?”

She slapped my arm this time.

I held my hands up. “Girl, stop with the abuse or you aren’t going to find out.”

“No, you didn’t tell me you and the…” She paused. “Alex kissed?! When? Where? How? Was it good? Was there tongue? Did he get handsy at all?”

I laughed a little. “Erm—”

“Actually, rewind,” she said. “You never told me about the date. What kind of a best friend are you?” She folded her arms over her chest and pouted. “You know what, maybe I just need a new best friend. I’m sure I could find someone.”

I rolled my eyes. “You should have taken a drama class, clearly,” I muttered.

She grinned.

“We went to a ranch, where he had some horses. We went on a horseback ride and had a picnic. Then, as usual with England weather, it rained. I fell off a horse, and we kissed in the rain under the stars.”

“Aw, it’s like something out of a romance film,” Megan said. “That’s so romantic, like honestly I bet that was a perfect first kiss.”

“You know what, it was stunning. Ah, it was perfect,” I admitted. “Then, he got mum from the hospital and we had dinner. Man, she hated him. She was so rude. Thankfully, I just lied and said it was due to the fact that she had been in hospital and was probably tired.”

“Did your mum say what her problem with him was?” Megan asked curiously.

“No, she just kept making claims that I didn’t know him, and he wasn’t who I thought he was,” I said.

“It ended in an argument.” I wasn’t going to bring up the good, old argument of my sperm donor.

“He joined TikTok, by the way. I have been spamming him with random videos, and he’s been watching something about an evil chicken stealing babies. Anyway we kissed and he said goodbye.”

“So, where do the two of you stand?” Megan asked curiously.

I let out a breath. “I have no idea where we stand,” I admitted. “I don’t want to think about any of that tonight. Did you get the thing one and two costumes?”

“Yeah,” she drew out the last letter. “About that…”

“You forgot to order it, didn’t you?” I asked.

“I’m just a girl!”

I shook my head and pulled a costume out of my bag. “Luckily for you. I had a feeling you would forget.”

“Oh, thank God,” she said with relief.

“I will be a sexy fairy, get drunk, and not worry about all these other problems we currently have.”

“Amen, sister!” She laughed. Megan jumped off the bed and ran to her wardrobe pulling out an outfit. “I’m a sexy bunny.”

I laughed. “Are we getting ready then?”

Megan grinned and nodded. She put her phone onto her dock and music began blasting out.

The one thing I loved about our music taste was that it wasn’t what you think it would be.

There was some what people would call old music but we loved it, you couldn’t beat a little bit of Steps, S Club 7, or even One Direction.

There is something about that music that slaps.

They had some catchy tunes, and also some banger party hits like the Cha Cha Slide.

Has there ever been any better party song?

Or the ketchup song where everyone thinks they can speak Spanish but really someone is just babbling.

“You got pre-party drinks?” I asked grinning.

“Always,” Megan said.

She ran out of the room, and I let out a little chuckle.

I looked at my phone and saw there was a TikTok notification.

I clicked on it straight away, and Alex’s username popped up.

I couldn’t help but let out a laugh because he sent me another video of Debora, the evil chicken.

Maybe I should see if he can adopt a chicken and name it Debora.

I needed to find out Alex’s birthday or wait until Christmas if we were still talking at that point.

I watched the video with a smile and sent back a little emoji.

Megan waved the can of vodka in front of me, and I took a sip.

“Let’s get ready!” She said with a grin.

For the next few hours, we spent doing our make-up, putting false lashes on and then doing our hair.

Megan was a genius when it came to hair and makeup, which is a good thing because I couldn’t make myself look nice if I tried.

Megan had curled my hair and straightened her own. We both got changed into our costumes.

My best friend did the slutty bunny well. I looked in the mirror and smiled as I looked at the green fairy outfit I was wearing.

“So, your Prince is going to have a fairy. Now the question is, are you a good fairy or a bad fairy?” Megan asked, grinning.

I let out a little laugh. “I’m a good fairy when sober and then a mess when I’m drunk.”

She reached for her phone, and we took a few selfies. She uploaded them immediately to Instagram.

I grinned and made her send them to my phone. I reached for my little green bag, shoving my phone and my cards in there.

“Let’s go.” She clapped happily. “I also invited an extra person with us, you know just in case you go off into a love bubble.”

“Love bubble?” I laughed.

“Love bubble.” She confirmed. She hooked her arm in mine and we headed towards the front door and it didn’t take too long to get into town.

“So, we’re going to start with pre-party drinks and Revs, and then drinks at Walkabout before we head on our ghost walk through town.

Then, we will go clubbing and maybe hit pop world or route one or even the be one I think it’s called. Maybe we should just bar hop.”

“Is this going to be like the time you tried to convince me to do a Spoons Pub Crawl?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“That’s still a good idea, Mel. I think we should do it one day. Like could you imagine what an achievement it would be to hit every Spoons in the country? How many people can say they have been to every Spoons?” Megan said, shaking her head. “Like that is an achievement.”

I shook my head, “It really isn’t.”

She scoffed, whipping out her phone. She turned it to me as she whipped out the Spoons app and I couldn’t help but laugh when she showed the check in. Low and behold, someone could check off every spoons place possible.

We entered Revs and went straight to the bar. I looked at my phone, seeing if there was a message from Alex, but there wasn’t. I hoped he would actually come and not let me down.

I missed him this week.
