Chapter 20

THE SIZE OF A LEMON

Fletcher

Hey Lydi-bug, did you know that the baby is the size of a lemon right now?

Lydia

I did. How did you know that?

Fletcher

I downloaded one of those week-by-week apps. It asked me a bunch of questions about my menstrual cycle, which… I don’t have one, but I got it figured out when I entered your due date.

Lydia

Why did you download a pregnancy app?

Fletcher

Curious. Wanted to learn a few things

Lydia

Um, okay then

Fletcher

Tell the little lemon I say hi

Lydia

I will

Fletcher

Miss you, Lydi

Lydia

Miss you, too

Lydia

Tough game last night. How’s your cheek?

Fletcher

I’ve got a nice bruise, but I’ll survive. Thankfully, my good looks are still intact.

Lydia

Fletcher

You can admit it, you know. I’m good looking.

Lydia

Sure, Fletcher.

Fletcher

So you agree?

Fletcher

Pleaasseee tell me you saw that goal tonight.

Lydia

Wow, it only took you thirty seconds after you walked off the ice to boast about it. I think that’s a new record.

Fletcher

Thirty five seconds. You have a delay, remember?

Lydia

How could I forget.

It was a beautiful goal. Sorry you guys couldn’t pull the win.

Fletcher

Oh well. We’ll get the next one.

Miss you

Fletcher

You’re going to watch the game tonight, right?

Lydia

Of course, I always do unless I’m coaching, you know that.

Fletcher

I’m going to score a goal for you tonight.

Lydia

For me? Why?

Fletcher

I’m going to show you that I’m in it to win it. Make sure you’re watching.

I’ll call you before the game.
