36. Chase

Chase

Love Song by Sky

A soothing chime interrupts my dream. I can’t remember what it was—only that it was lovely. Almost as lovely as the reality I’m waking into.

Not just the sex—though that was fucking amazing—but the way he spoke to me and held me after, like he didn’t want to let go. How he saw just as much importance in whatever this is as I did.

While I never pictured myself as a guy who chases after anyone, last night showed me just how wrong I could be about myself.

I’m really fucking into him…and I want him, want him… badly.

My eyes peel open and I quickly look to my right to make sure last night wasn’t just my imagination.

Lo and behold, there he is. Jeremiah’s sleeping face beside me on the pillow under his arms, his face buried under his black hair.

His naked, ripped body is sprawled among my blankets.

I guess he got hot during the night because somehow, I’ve ended up with all the covers while he’s lying there, ass out, bare to the world.

I take as long as I like watching him in all his glory before I reach for my laptop on my bedside table and start answering some emails. Gotta stay on top of my work. Need to impress the boss. Which truthfully gives me a half-chub just thinking about making him proud.

I’m lost in work when all of a sudden, a loud chime goes off beside me.

“Mmmph. Chase. Alarm. Off.” His voice comes out gravelly and muffled from the pillow.

I smile, reaching out on my beside table to turn off my alarm on my phone.

“You wake up earlier than I do. That should be illegal,” he mumbles, rubbing his face after taking in the sight of my computer on my lap.

There’s something criminal about how perfect he looks in the morning. At work, he holds himself so hard, poised, and professional. While here, his face is soft and unbothered, like he’s never carried a single ounce of stress.

I reach out my hand and brush his hair off his forehead. His gaze drifts to me and I’m almost taken back all over again.

This guy…this heavenly, beautiful, confident, specimen slept in my bed last night.

Jeremiah huffs out a laugh. “You’re looking at me like you want to eat me.”

“You wouldn’t be wrong.” I chuckle, closing my computer and sliding it on the bedside table. “How’d you sleep?” I turn towards him.

Jeremiah sits up on his forearm, gaining a better angle to look at me. “Best sleep I’ve had in a while.” He confesses. His hand reaches out gently on my pecs, rubbing me softly back and forth up and down my sternum.

I hum at the immediate soothing effect. “Mmm, this isn’t helping my situation at all.” I bite my lip, closing my eyes. Jeremiah nuzzles his face into my neck, and I inhale sharply when I feel his soft bites and licks on the soft part of my skin. “Fuck, this really isn’t helping.”

Someone’s really horny in the morning. And by someone, I mean me.

“You’ve got to sleep over more,” I moan as he breathes me in, gripping the side of my waist hard.

His leg slides itself in between mine, giving me something to rub against, and from what I feel against my hip, giving him something to rub against too.

We’re both still naked from last night so this will be quick and easy.

I’m just waiting for the moment he reaches down and touches my stiff dick.

When, all of a sudden, just when I think he’s about to—a second alarm starts to ring, this time from his phone.

“Ughhh,” we both groan at the same time.

“Fuck work. Who needs a job? Let’s play hooky,” I ramble, pulling at his arm as he stretches to turn his alarm off.

“As much as I want to stay in this bed with you all day...” he cups my jaw, tilting my head slightly before pressing a soft kiss against my skin. “I don’t reward slackers.” He laughs, untangling his legs from mine, feeling cold as soon as he gets up from the bed.

I emphasize my groan, flopping onto my back. “Damn. My boss suuucks,” I joke.

I see a smile on his face which only makes me happier. I remember back to when he first walked into WingMate and I wanted nothing more than to earn this look from him. And I guess I did.

With his back to me, I watch in amazement as he stretches his arms above his head, contorting and contracting all the beautiful crevices of his back. I bite my bottom lip watching the show.

I may be fit but this guy is jacked.

“Go running with me. I’ve got extra pairs of shorts, running shoes, whatever you need,” I offer.

Jeremiah drops his arms and looks at me over his shoulder. I suck in a breath, waiting for his rejection.

However, he surprises me when he says, “Sure. Let’s go.”

So, we do just that. I let him borrow some of my boxers and gym shorts, even if I’m a bit smaller than him, he fits well more or less.

It’s too early for Ryan to be up, which is perfect.

Avoiding the awkward morning roommate encounter is ideal, especially after I definitely didn’t hold back my moans last night.

But honestly, nothing about Jeremiah feels like a shame.

Ever. I seriously would like nothing better than to scream it out from the rooftops that he wants me and only me.

His words, by the way.

Jeremiah insists on throwing on one of my baseball caps which I of course, do not attest to.

Especially when he flicks his hair back before putting it on.

When there’s no product in his hair, it’s like a whole new Jer.

I swear, I’m obsessed with both. But, damn.

This sporty, laid-back, casual version of him? Yeah, I’m a sucker for it too.

We brush our teeth beside each other after I give him a new toothbrush and before we know it, we’re off.

I start off by taking him through my usual route through the streets. It’s still early morning so the streets are still quiet. Opting out of my AirPods this morning, I only have his soft breaths to keep me company and honestly, it’s fucking amazing. This is a fucking dream.

We run for a while together, enjoying running side by side in peace, before we have to start turning back. He hasn’t even broken a sweat yet. That has to change.

My lips quirk as an idea pops into my head. “Want to make things interesting?”

Jeremiah looks over at me, his brow peaking. “You’ve got an evil look going on. What are you thinking?”

“Race you back to the apartment. The loser gets to eat the other’s ass.” I grin from ear to ear.

Jeremiah almost topples over, he’s so shocked. “You’re fucking ridiculous—” he starts, but before he finishes, I’m already way ahead.

He better learn to call me The Flash because when I’m off, I’m off.

He quickly gains on me though and feeling his presence behind me makes the anticipation all the more exciting.

A high pitch laugh escapes my lips as I look back at how close he is.

Did I just fucking squeal?

I have no time to feel embarrassed as I try to keep focused. We’re not too far now. People are turning to watch at this point, probably thinking we’re in some high-speed chase.

However, as soon as I see my apartment door, I start to ease up on my pace.

Whizzing past me, Jeremiah touches the door, oozing competitive energy like this was his hall of fame moment.

“You fucking lost,” he pants as I get closer. “You—”

His eyes widen as soon as he sees the smirk on my face that I’m struggling hard to hide.

“You—you let me win, you asshole.”

“Mmm,” I shake my head, opening the door to let us in. “The only asshole I’d be worried about is yours,” I tease.

I should be arrested for that line. But his smirk says he liked it so it’s a win for me.

Despite my objections, Jeremiah insists we take separate showers—something about getting to work on time, blah blah blah. He’s probably right. The last shower we shared together in the gym wasn’t exactly quick.

Laying out some clothes of mine I believe would fit him on the bed, I get myself ready while he’s in the shower.

Before long, Jeremiah slips back into my room, body glistening wet with a white towel pinched around his waist. For a second, I just look at him—like really look at him—and I still can’t believe this is real.

Him, here, with me.

“Dear lord, do you always look like a Calvin Klein model?” I ask, shaking my head.

Jeremiah laughs, moving his hair back off his face. “You keep going with these compliments and I’m going to think you’re only with me for my looks.”

I walk over to him, tugging the towel in my hands so he forcefully presses against me. “Don’t be ridiculous. I’ve also tasted your cooking.” I smile into a kiss.

He shakes his head, kissing me back as he holds me close by my cheeks.

I feel up and down his back, breathing in the scent of my body shower mixed with his own personal scent.

“Mmm, okay. Guess we should get a move on. These clothes should fit on you,” I say, reluctantly pulling away.

Jeremiah wipes his bottom lip off with his thumb as he looks me up and down. “Okay, thanks.”

“And I’m thinking we could stop for coffee and breakfast before going in this time? You know, since we’re together anyways.”

For a second, I see something flicker behind his eyes—like he’s surprised I said it out loud.

“Yeah,” he says quietly. “That sounds perfect.”

I smile at him and back out of the room, giving him some space to get ready while I go and feed Honey.

Today’s going to be a good day.
