44. Jeremiah
Jeremiah
Rule... ???
The soft golden glow of my alarm clock filters through my eyelids, slowly pulling me awake.
But today, instead of waking to the distant hum of morning traffic below, I wake to the soft sounds of not one, but two guests snuggled up against me.
I glance down, pleasantly surprised to find a bundle of soft grey-and-white fur tucked beneath my chin and another head resting under my arm, a mess of brown hair flopped over my chest.
I smile, running my hand over his face to move his silky hair out of the way. “We’ve got to go to work, baby.”
“Mmmph, ten more minutes.” Chase grumbles, snuggling into my arm.
Unimpressed with me too, Honey yawns, and peacefully moves off of my chest, moving to the spot beside me instead. I find myself smiling at how spoiled I feel at this moment. How quickly things have changed in a matter of months.
I look down again at Chase. He looks so precious and content.
After a night like last night, it’s no wonder he’s so exhausted.
I was feral last night after having a look at him in the tub.
And once I felt inside of him? It was game fucking over.
There was no holding me back. I don’t think there’s anything capable of holding me back ever again.
“Okay, fifteen more minutes.” I agree burying my face into his neck and softly rubbing up and down his back.
I haven’t been to work “on time” in…well, ever. I’m usually the ‘why are you here so early?’ type of guy. But, when Chase insists on joining me in the shower and I’m still blissed out from last night, the only answer I could think of was ‘fuck yes’.
And apparently that’s also all I could say when he offered to help me shave my stubble in the shower.
And that ‘fuck yes’ quickly started repeating again and again when he lowered to his knees dripping wet and sucked me down like my dick was the only thing keeping him alive.
For a presumably “straight guy” who has never had a dick in his mouth before mine, he sure knows what to do with it.
His soft tongue, swirling around my head.
His eyes, never drifting from mine. The way his hands cup and tug softly at my balls.
I press my heel into my pants as I recall the memory on the way to work.
“You okay over there, Jere?” Chase asks cheekily, sliding his sunglasses down just enough to shoot me a knowing smirk. His eyes trailing from mine to my lap.
I huff. “Don’t. Don’t even look at me. I just calmed down.”
“Oh, come on. Just accept it. There’s no avoiding it.” he snickers, tipping his coffee to his lips.
“You know what? I don’t even feel bad about those anymore,” I say pointing to his neck.
Chase gives me a straight mouth before a grin slowly creeps on his face and he has to look away.
It was no surprise that after last night's…activities…he ended up with a few hickeys and bite marks along the column of his neck. Finding him a collared sweatshirt that zips up wasn’t his favorite part of the morning but hey, all the guilt I might have had before has now floated away after all this gloating he’s doing right now.
“Oh, you just love this, don’t you?” He shakes his head, pulling up the collar to hide those purple marks on his sweet, soft skin.
I roll my eyes and turn the stereo up to some loud song.
After one date with Chase Rutherford, my whole routine is fucked up and…I’m fucking happy about it.
I haven’t felt this free in…forever.
All I want to do is drag him back home and never leave my room ever again.
Me.
Jeremiah Blackwood wants to skip work and play hooky all day. I feel like people talk about this feeling all the time in songs and movies and I’ve just never understood it…until now.
Sure, I’ve had sex before. But nothing has ever felt this important. No one has ever felt this special.
We pull into the underground garage and I park my car in my usual spot. Turning off my ignition, I feel a heavy weight on my chest that I need to get out.
I turn to Chase as he puts together the tray of drinks he got for us and Mia. He’s smiling to himself and I wonder if he knows how beautiful he looks.
“Thank you…for last night…and this morning and…for everything. It was a great first date,” I say softly.
Chase stops moving, his eyes flickering to mine. His brows pinch as he scans my face. Once he registers that I’m not joking, his expression softens. “Best I’ve ever had.” His eyebrow arches and I realize he’s not just talking about the date.
This coy bastard.
I look around quickly and once making sure no one is around, I grab him by the back of his neck and pull him into a kiss, lingering for a moment against his lips before pulling away.
His eyes slowly reopen as he flashes me a gorgeous smile. “Oh, we’re so fucked.” He shakes his head, and opens the car door.
I hesitate to lick my lips. I want to savor his taste on my lips for the rest of the day.
“Sleepover again tonight.” I follow him through the parking garage and step into the elevator. “I’m already dying to be inside of you again.”
He presses the button to our office floor and leans back on the back wall.
“Jeremiah Blackwood,” he tsks. “One night with this ass has got you hooked, huh? If I knew it’d have that power, I would’ve been bent over your desk the moment you got here–”
“Fucking dammit,” I say through clenched teeth.
“Just pounding me hard. All your organized pens and paper flying everywhere. Everyone watching you claim my greedy ass–”
“Fuck. You ass. You enjoy torturing me?” I squeeze my eyes shut and try to imagine anything else other than bending him over my desk.
“I think I do. It’s a little thrilling to me,” he laughs.
“Are you not rocking a stiff one too?”
He moves the tray of drinks out of the way and shows me his semi pressed against his leg. “I’m not ashamed, Blackwood. I’m only human.” He shrugs.
The elevator doors ding open and he gives me a quick wink before heading down the hallway acting like everything's normal.
I shift my hard-on quickly so it’s pinned underneath my belt.
Today’s going to be a long day.
“I’ll be there bright and early to help set up and then return around six to help welcome the guests in.” Mia smiles. I look at her at the end of the table, feeling a big feeling of pride fill my heart.
“That sounds great, Mia. You’re really taking charge here.” I wink.
I know how much she has wanted to move up at this company and I know how much Chase has wanted that for her too. It’s nice to be a part of her journey.
She nods and beams at me as she writes some notes down in her journal.
“Well, this all sounds fine and dandy. I’m curious, when will we sign those papers over for WingMate? It’s about time we get that going, yeah?” David asks, clasping his hands together.
I clench my jaw and look to Theo on the other side of the table. He gives me a knowing look and just shakes his head ever so slightly. Hold him off.
I smile politely. “Just finalizing some of that paperwork and then all will be right as rain.”
David rolls his eyes, looking off to the distance. Looks like the nice guy act has passed and he’s giving us reality now. Figures.
“We want everything to be as perfect as we can for you, David. Dot the i’s, cross the T’s.” Heather chimes up at the end of the table.
David twiddles his thumbs, nodding. “I understand that but time is ticking and when I see something I like, I’ve got to have it—”
I zone out for a moment. I know it’s all a crock of shit so there’s really no point hearing him ramble on about it. My hand lingers underneath the table on my thigh. My breath hitches as I recognize the warm touch I’ve grown to find familiar.
Chase is in the seat next to me, leaned over on the other arm of his chair as he nibbles on the end of his pen.
Giving me a quick glance, he shoots butterflies right to my stomach.
My fingers extend out just slightly as he delicately wraps his around mine. It’s not even like he’s holding my hand, yet he feels so close.
I look around the table slowly, seeing that no one’s eyes are on us. No one knows except for us and it’s electrifying.
Me and him.
Him and me.
“You know what we need? We need to get loose. The Gala is tomorrow and you’ve all worked so hard to make sure David and I have been well treated. We should do something fun.” Theo winks at me, raising his eyebrows up and down.
I bite back a laugh. “Well, there’s karaoke tonight.”
Theo gasps dramatically. “Yes. Like that. Count us in.”
After seeing how great Chase was…I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t itching to see another performance of his. Plus, it’ll be nice to experience Donnellys with him while we’re both not actively—and failing at— avoiding each other.
Yet, Chase moves his hand off of my lap and positions itself back on the table. The warmth from him, gone.
Maybe he’s over karaoke?
“Okay, yeah. Sure, that sounds great.” David smile stiffly. “Until then, let’s talk about budgets? I want to see the financial breakdowns again.”
We all shift awkwardly as the rest of the executive team packs up and prepares to exit, leaving just Heather, Todd, Theo and I with David.
“Hey, I’ll come find you later,” I whisper to Chase before he leaves.
He nods at me giving me a slight smile before heading out.
As he leaves the office, my eyes attach to him like glue. I can’t get over the feeling of how much I want to be alone with him again. I don’t think things could ever go back to the way things were.
I don’t know what’ll happen tomorrow or the next day…all I know is that when it comes to Chase,
I’ll follow him anywhere.
