Chapter 6
Groggily, my eyes opened slowly. The bright sun shined through the large balcony windows, causing me to squint and groan. My eyes snapped shut again, and I heard a deep chuckle from behind me.
Just the sound of his laugh caused the memories from the night before to rush forward. Not even all the rum punch I consumed could knock those memories from my head.
Despite my headache, I grinned and slowly opened my eyes again.
I turned around, and my eyes landed on a beautiful sight.
Azari stood there with shorts and a bare chest. Beside him was a cart from room service.
The smell of coffee was the most prominent, and I wanted to clap with glee.
That was exactly what I needed to get back on the right track.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he said as he sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed my leg through the thick comforter.
“Good morning.” My voice came out raspy from sleep… and probably all that moaning and shouting I had done last night when Azari was deep in my damn guts.
I grinned at the memory.
“Care to share what put that pretty smile on your face?”
Deciding to be honest, I said, “You,” as I poked him in the chest.
One of his thick brows rose. “Me?”
I nodded, grabbing a handful of his dick that was resting well on his thigh. “Umm hmm, definitely you.”
“Care to elaborate, more?” he asked with a grin now resting on his face.
I shook my head, laughing, and winced from the sharp pain in my temples. “No, but I do need to use the bathroom and wash up.”
He nodded. “I made sure housekeeping brought up extra towels and a toothbrush for you. Go ahead. We can eat when you finish.”
I stood slowly as I eyed him. “Who said I wanted to have breakfast with you, anyway?”
“You did.” He chuckled. “Last night before you passed out, you said you wanted to get breakfast in the morning. I knew we would both be hungover, so I brought breakfast to us.”
Well, shit. Guess I didn’t remember everything from last night.
I giggled. “Thank you for being such a good listener,” I called out over my shoulder as I sashayed to the bathroom butt-ass naked. I felt his eyes on me, and I shivered in delight.
I quickly used the bathroom and handled my hygiene as I wondered what was going on between Azari and me.
It felt so real. The connection was out of this world.
The chemistry was something I could never even think to dream of.
The feelings I had coursing through me were foreign.
I couldn’t lie… it scared the hell out of me.
Because what if when it was all said and done, it was only a vacation fling?
I shook my head as I fixed my hair in the mirror, mad that I didn’t have a bonnet to wear to bed last night.
Whatever was going on, I knew I needed to cut it short.
So, after breakfast, I would say my goodbyes and go on about my business.
I couldn’t allow him to consume me for the rest of the vacation and give me something new to worry about.
The point of being here was to be stress-free.
“You got this, girl,” I muttered before I opened the bathroom door and joined Azari on the bed.
He’d taken the time to spread the food out over some towels laid out on the bed.
“You good?” he asked as he appraised me.
“Yeah. This all looks good.”
“Eat as much as you want. I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I got it all.”
See, shit like that. He was so sweet and considerate. My heart gave a little squeeze as we dug into our food. That first sip of coffee made me moan.
“Yeah, aight. Moan like that again and see what happens,” Azari said.
I peered over at him and noticed him already gazing at me. My cheeks warmed. “My bad.”
He shook his head. “You somethin’ else, woman. You know that?”
I shrugged. “I guess.”
“You sure you’re good?”
“Yeah. Just hungover as hell.”
“You don’t regret last night, do you?” he asked.
I shook my head, instantly regretting the pain rattling around inside my skull.
“No, not at all. I had the best time,” I admitted.
And that was the truth. I did have the best time with him, which only made me sad because I wanted to hold onto this connection.
I didn’t think that was feasible or on the table.
“I did too,” he replied. “I ain’t gonna lie. I don’t understand how you’re single, Indira. You’re so fuckin’ beautiful and down to earth.”
“I could say the same about you, Azari,” I mocked. “You’re too good to be true.”
“I ain’t no angel,” he said.
“I am,” I said with a grin, and he laughed.
“I believe that, for real. It’s crazy we ain’t ever ran into each other back home.”
“I know. I was thinking that yesterday,” I agreed as I bit into some toast.
“Where did you go to school?” he asked.
We made small talk like that and found out we had a lot in common and had even gone to some of the same schools, just at different times.
Once we were full, I slowly stood. “I should get back to my room. I really need to get a nap in and figure out what I’m doing the rest of the day.”
“Take my number,” he said, handing me my phone from the nightstand.
Reluctantly, I added his number into my phone, knowing I wouldn’t use it. When I finished, he stood, hugged me, and then gave me a soul-stirring kiss.
“Let’s get up later.”
I nodded, wondering why the hell I felt a lump in my throat.
I had a cute little vacation fling. That was a good thing, and now it was time to let it go before I got too attached.
I didn’t come here to find love. I came here to relax, and stressing about this strong-ass connection with Azari didn’t seem relaxing to me.
He pecked my lips one more time, and I quickly turned to exit his room.
One single tear dropped as soon as I heard the door close behind me, but I didn’t look back, nor did I turn back. I kept going until I got to my room so I could gather myself and then get back to enjoying my vacation.
