Book One - Shilo #3
Train started to slip and his body hung out the window as his face neared the pavement.
“Fuck!” Ryker shouted as he tried to get control of the wheel.
Commando grabbed his brother around his waist and dragged him back into the F-150.
Train managed to hang onto the bag as they were both safely on the seat now.
“Damnit, they’re going after Shilo!” Ryker exclaimed as he saw the happenings behind them in the rearview mirror.
Shilo’s car swerved as the big truck smashed into the tail end of it.
Train held one of the guns now and leaned out. With expert skill, he aimed and shot at the windshield of the attacking truck. “Die, you motherfucking Dogs!”
The truck’s windshield had been hit on the driver’s side as it went all over the road and then rolled a few times into a fiery wreck.
Commando and Ryker saw the wreck then stared at Train in shock.
Commando rose up with his weapon and saw the little rental car on the side of the road. “Turn around, Ryker!” he ordered.
Slowing the truck, Ryker made a swift turn.
After coming up on the car, Commando climbed over Train and hopped out before the truck even stopped. With his heart pounding in fear for his friend, he rushed to the car and opened the door.
With a groan, Shilo fell out onto the ground. His forehead looked bloody.
“The fuck?” Commando shouted in concern as he believed Shilo was hurt badly.
Shilo stared up at him and said, “I’m okay. It’s just a small gash. I was stuck in the seatbelt and had just cut it when you came up.” He stood and looked around. “We’d better go. I saw motorcycles going by before you turned into the prison.”
He and Commando rushed back to the F-150.
A bit leery of his brother now, Commando got into the back.
With not much choice, Shilo got into the front, next to Train.
Ryker took off and got back onto the road. “Damn, Shilo. You fucking scared me. If we let you get hurt, Gabby would kick our asses.”
“Yeah, she would,” Commando said from the backseat.
Then the cab got real quiet as the men seemed to realize what they had just done.
Train slowly turned his head to look at Shilo. With a death glare in his eyes and the low gravelly voice, he asked, “Why the fuck would my daughter care so much about you?” he growled.
“Oh, fuck,” Ryker whispered with fear in his voice as his rounded eyes met with Commando’s gaze in the rearview mirror.
Back at the Clubhouse
“But what are you going to do about Lester and Sarah?” Gina asked Train.
“Lester gave the doctor an execution order for me. If he ever got arrested, the doctor was supposed to give me an overdose, so I wouldn’t be around anymore.
I think he was supposed to shut me up, so I couldn’t testify to what kind of family I really had. ”
Train grinned but the glee didn’t touch his eyes. They were cold and vengeful. “With everything you’ve told us, we can come up with a plan and take them both down. They call us the Phantom Fury for a reason, you know that, right?”
Gina swallowed hard and slowly nodded.
“I want in on that. In fact, I can pay for it to happen.”
They all looked over to see Gabby.
Shilo stood next to her as he looked a bit weak while Stitches and Nurse Ginger held him up.
Commando rushed over and helped Stitches to get Shilo to a chair. He grunted and winced as they sat him down.
“You okay, baby?” Gabby asked him in a soft voice.
He nodded. “I am.” He tugged her hand and had her sit next to him. “Go ahead and tell them.”
Gabby raised her gaze and looked around at everyone.
“Tell us what?” Train asked Gabby.
She stared at him. “First, I want to say welcome home to you, Dad.”
He blinked at her while looking confused. She sure as hell didn’t have this opinion yesterday.
Gabby snorted. “Yeah, I thought that might shut ya up.”
Commando shook his head as he chuckled. “You are so much like King.”
“Yeah?” she retorted. “Well damn, I think that is why I’m still alive.”
King laughed as did some of the men. “She’s a Brooks, no doubt about it.”
“So...” Gabby looked around and smiled at the girls and then at her mom.
Commando, King, Bullet, Ryker, Rocket and Train all stared at her beaming smile. They looked stunned. In fact, her new sunny attitude made her even more beautiful. This didn’t seem to be the same Gabby they had dragged here when they spotted that tattoo, a month ago.
Finally, she took in their astonished expressions. She actually laughed.
Collective gasps could now be heard from the men. Her laughter sent shock through everyone there.
Gabby stood and said, “I have five hundred thousand dollars, thanks to my mom.” She gave Gina a nod.
“And when people have that kind of money...They can set up almost any scenario. I already gave this a lot of thought and my ideas went from hiring a hitman to snuff out Auntie Sarah and Grampy Lester all the way to kidnapping them and having their fingernails yanked.”
“Oh, no...” Gina shook her head.
“I like the second one,” King spoke up. “Or perhaps dropping them in a cactus patch while just wearing their underwear.”
The men all laughed.
“I said I plotted, I mean a girl can dream, right?” Gabby paused and stared at her Grandpa. “But the cactus one has merit.” She grinned at him then went on, “But with Ginger’s and Shilo’s help, we finally came up with it.”
“With it?” Train asked her.
“Yes. See there’s revenge and there’s justice. But Justice never does it right. Like a slap for a slap. A tit for a tat. A slice for a slice.”
“Well, I like where this is going,” Trixie quipped.
“We beat them at their own game,” Gabby told them all. “We use their greed, their bad habits and nasty schemes against them.”
King stood up and said to her, “I like shooting and wipin’ up the floor with ‘em, like we did yesterday. But this sounds like my kinda fun.” He rubbed his palms together. “When can we start?”
