Chapter Six

Staring at the tiny USB, Andy gasped and asked, “Does my mom know that you have that?”

Avery looked over at her and shook her head.

“Of course not, but I copied my spreadsheets every month, just in case. Your mom would kill me if she knew I had this but I always planned that one day, I was going to leave that hell and this was my insurance if I ever needed it. Now I happily turn it over to the Fury. I just hope you use it to stop them once and for all.”

King took the flash drive and looked at it carefully. “This might just do it, if it's real.”

Avery nodded. “Yes, it's real alright and it's got more dirt on them than you would ever guess.” She looked over at Andy and explained, “Her whole agenda is on that little drive. It has her bank balances on there too. All five banks. She’s got even more money than your grandpa does and it's all from her businesses. And it is all blood money.”

King handed the flash drive to their IT guy. “Let’s see what she’s got.”

Rocket plugged the drive into his laptop and then looked up at Avery and asked, “What’s the password?”

She paused and glanced at Ryker then told Rocket, “Trever & Tommy forever. The names are capped.”

Ryker’s gaze met hers as he looked totally shocked that she used their names as a password to the information meant to take down an evil empire.

She looked away from him as her cheeks went pink.

When the drive opened, Rocket raised his brows in shock. There were so many files on the drive he didn't know which one to open first.

“Try opening the one labeled Book Four,” Avery told him. “It’s the latest overall file.”

Rocket opened it like she suggested and his brows hiked all the way up to his hairline now. He slowly looked over at King and stammered, “Y-you aren’t gonna believe this shit, King. You better make the call to this guy Grizzly. He needs to see this too.”

King walked over to stand behind him and his jaw tightened as he read the file over Rocket’s shoulder. Without a word he reached for his phone and scrolled through his contacts. When he found the number, he called the Savaged Souls.

When the call was answered he spoke, “Gunner this is King Brooks over Leaner way. You still got a guy named Grizzly on your team? Yeah? That’s good, is he still got a badge?

Yeah? That’s even better. Him and me, we need to talk.

I’m talking about busting up a ring of thieves that makes everyone else seem like small town thugs.

Have you ever heard the name of Lester Asher? Or maybe Sarah Asher?”

He listened for a few minutes and nodded.

“Yeah, we got a clubhouse near there.” Then he gave them the address and said he would see them when they got here.

He ended the call then looked over at Avery and Andy, “They are very interested in what we’ve got to show them.

They are bringing in the big guns. Three Marshalls are actually Savaged Soul members.

Makes me feel sorta proud hearing that.”

“Good,” Avery stated. “It's about time someone puts them in prison. And I don’t mean just because of what Sarah has done to me. No, it’s how they brainwashed all those kids in the family from a young age and made them break the law and do all kinds of nefarious activities.

And if they refused, they were beaten and punished.

If Sarah didn’t do it herself she has two slobs that love doing it.

” Avery growled. Then she looked over at Andy and added, “I remember what she did to you and I was so glad when you didn’t come back.

I hate her so much. Sorry, no offense but I do. ”

Andy chuckled. “None taken, girl. And I was also glad I never went back home. You are right, it's about time someone stood up to her and Lester.”

Avery motioned at the flash drive. “And with that, we might be able to make it stick.”

Three hours later...

They heard the rumble of cycles coming up the driveway as a half a dozen bikes stopped on the other side of the gate. King narrowed his eyes and that was when he saw the patch on the head cyclist’s cut. He recognized Gunner. He looked back at Rocket and nodded.

Rocket hit the code to open the gate.

The Savaged Souls then rolled up to the front of the clubhouse.

Six men wearing Savaged Souls MC cuts, all kicked their stands down. They slid off their bikes and removed their head gear. They just stood there staring at the men staring back at them.

A large man stepped up and asked, “Are you King?” He held out his hand.

King nodded as he grasped his for the handshake.

“I’m Grizzly. You said something about taking down Sarah Asher?

The Marshals have been waiting for the chance to do that for the last two years.

” He turned to the man wearing a President's Patch.

“This is Gunner the Savaged Souls President, and this is Boone, his second in command. The other men are Gypsy, Moose and Skeeter.” Then he stepped back.

King stood back as well and motioned for them to move inside. “I remember some of you. Gunner, it’s good to see you again. Let’s head on in. We have beer, soda and bottled water.”

Gunner grinned. “I’ll take ‘em in that exact order.”

King chuckled. “Me too.” He went in through the double doors.

The men all wore smiles at the joke. They all settled in at one big table.

King nodded at them as he motioned to Shilo. “This is my VP, goes by Shilo. Then that’s my son, Commando.” He gave him a nod.

The men gave them respectful nods back as they all grabbed whatever drink they wanted from the middle of the table. He waited until they parched their thirst.

“What you got and can it be used in a court of law?” Grizzly asked as he set his water down

“We’ll show you and you can tell us. Oh and we have several members of that family in our cells.

They came here with mayhem on their minds.

They tried to smoke the whole lot of us.

Then we had to rescue Lester’s own daughter, Sarah’s sister, one we thought has been dead for eighteen years.

Along with his granddaughter, my own granddaughter, one that I didn’t even know I had. ”

“That whole family is fucked up.” Commando growled.

Grizzly agreed, “Yeah, that’s a fact and we’ve been looking for a way to stop them in their tracks but everyone we talked to is too afraid of Sarah and Lester to tell us the truth. How the hell did you get someone to roll over on them?”

King smiled. “You just have to know who to ask and we did that. Gentlemen, I want you to meet Andy Asher, she’s Sarah’s daughter and she introduced us to Avery Gentry.

Sarah took her off the streets and made her a bookkeeper.

Avery told us she has evidence of Sarah’s empire and you aren't gonna believe what we’ve uncovered so far.

She also told us if we were going to do this we had to find an uncompromised law man.

She gave us your name Grizzly and we called you. ”

Grizzly nodded. “I wondered how you knew to call me in on this.” He looked over at Avery and asked, “How did you know to call me especially?”

Avery shrugged. “Word on the street, I guess? I’ve lived there for more time than I ever wanted.

Someone told me a long time ago that if anyone needed law help that was legit to call you.

I just listened. His name was Big Jim.” She stared at him and explained a bit of her story, “I grew up in Tyler, but after my brother died and we got run out of town, my parents moved us to Mount Pleasant. But the trouble we were running from found us anyway and the night they shot my parents in our house, I ran away and lived on the streets for a few years then Sarah dragged me home with her. I didn’t want to go but she left me no choice.

I kept her books and I took her abuse until last night.

Andy sent these men to get me out of that damn town.

When they told me what they were planning I was in, all the way.

But I heard Sarah say something about burning this place down to ash and she didn’t even seem to care that her daughter Andy was still here or her sister or a couple of her nieces.

That woman is downright mean and cold and she doesn’t care about anyone but herself and that’s a fact. ”

Grizzly nodded. “Sounds about right. Lester thinks he runs the show but she’s the real menace behind that family.”

“See, we never knew that,” King replied. “Lester always lorded himself as the boss. Then we found out Sarah was the real leader of it all.”

Gabby stepped up and nodded at Grizzly. “My name is Gabby and I need to add a few things to what you have.”

Commando nodded at her and looked over at the Savaged Souls men. “What they did to our family will chill you to the bone, gentlemen. This is my niece, Gabby and she has a story that is bloody, shocking and just plain horrifying.”

Grizzly stared back at him then looked up at Gabby. “Please have a seat, Gabby.” He motioned to the spot next to King. “We need to hear your story.”

She shook her head. “I don’t need to sit down, thank you. I can’t stay long. I’m helping my father to take care of my mom.”

Grizzly and Gunner leaned back and gave her nods to go ahead.
