Chapter 11 #2

“We gotta go, baby.” I guide her out the doors and get her into the truck. Hurrying back to the clubhouse and jogging into Dexter’s lair, I ask, “Whatcha got?”

“It’s bad, Prez. Just got off the phone with Chavez, and he said Pinball has Sadie.

He’s got him on a fool’s errand and said we need to hurry,” he spits out, already gathering extra ammo.

It takes a minute for what he’s just said to register in my mind and when it does a rage that scares even me, takes over.

Growling, I turn on my booted heel and jog up the steps, bypassing everyone and everything as I make my way outside, climb on my bike, and gun it towards the east end of town.

If he’s touched one hair on Sadie’s head, I will burn his fucking world down right before I drain the life out of the bastard.

With screeching tires, I slide through their clubhouse gates, dropping my bike to the ground as I take off running toward their clubhouse doors.

Lifting my foot, I kick in the door and am met with three men that are passed out drunk if the empty bottles scattered around them are any indication.

With my gun in hand, I stalk down the hall looking for my target, and when I finally get to their church doorway, I am met with Chavez who has his gun trained on me.

“Where is he? You don’t have to die here today but his reign of terror is over,” I growl.

“Who do you think called your man, Viper? I told Pinball that your woman was spotted at your club, but he should be back soon when he realizes she isn’t there.

Your daughter is safe. He hasn’t touched her, but we need to come to some sort of agreement after this.

Moving Hector’s shipments is what we were dependent on to keep our club afloat and with the deal falling through we’re going to lose everything. ”

“What are you proposing?” I ask him, thinking that this may solve both of our problems.

“I’ll let you have Pinball with no blowback from our club in exchange for you splitting the profits of Hector’s runs,” he suggests.

“You give me Pinball and drive the shipments with my men providing security and you’ve got a deal,” I counteroffer, sticking my hand out for him to shake.

“Deal.” He shakes my hand.

“Where’s my daughter?” I ask him, needing to see with my own eyes that she’s unharmed.

“Well, what do we have here?” Pinball sneers from behind me, not realizing how his world has just changed and is about to come to a crashing halt.

“You fucked up when you took Kierra. I really thought you’d have learned your lesson, but it appears you aren’t that bright since you made the grave mistake of taking my daughter and killing one of my dancers,” I say, pointing my gun at him.

He throws his head back laughing before finally sobering and training his cold black eyes on me. “That whore should’ve been mine. I can still taste her pussy on my tongue, but no matter, I’m sure your daughter will taste just as sweet.” He smirks.

Just as I’m ready to pull the trigger a shot rings out from behind me, and I watch as the life drains from Pinball’s eyes and blood begins to seep out of the bullet hole in the center of his forehead.

“That was my kill, motherfucker,” I growl turning around to face Chavez, pissed that he ended Pinball before I could.

“I was tired of hearing the vile things that were coming out of his mouth. We’re not innocent around here but none of us believe in hurting women the way he seemed to enjoy doing on a regular basis.

It was time to send him back to hell where he belonged.

” Chavez pulls out his phone, putting it to his ear and saying, “Need a clean-up crew. Yeah. Thanks.” Then ends the call.

“We have a deal, yes?” he prods again.

“Yeah, we have a deal. The first run is happening as we speak, but as soon as I get word about the next one, we’ll have a meeting and iron out the details for our arrangement going forward,” I suggest. This will solve the problem I have with my men driving shipments of guns that could get them locked up for a long fucking time if they were to get caught.

“Follow me. I’ll take you to your daughter,” he directs, stepping over Pinball’s lifeless body as I follow behind him doing the same.

At the end of the hallway, he opens a door and whispers something before I can hear what it is.

Once I’ve moved around him, I see Sadie sitting on the edge of a bed inside and as soon as she sees me, she breaks down into tears.

Rushing inside, I pull her to her feet and wrap my arms around her as she continues to cry.

“Are you ok, babygirl? Did he hurt you?” I whisper into her hair.

“No. That man right there wouldn’t let him come near me,” she indicates, pointing to Chavez who is still standing in the doorway watching our exchange with far too much curiosity for my liking.

“Come on, Sadie. Let’s get you out of here,” Before I can even get her to take more than a few steps, we hear the sound of heavy, booted feet barreling in our direction.

Just as we’re stepping out of the room, I see all my men have come in like the cavalry ready to rain down hell if needed to get my girl back.

I’ve never been more grateful for my brothers.

“Sadie!” Kidd shouts pushing past everyone and coming straight to my girl. “Fuck, Sadie. I’m sorry. I should’ve been there to keep an eye on you.” He pulls my girl out of my arms and into his own trying to console her.

“I’m ok,” she whispers, letting him hold her and making me think that having him so close to my daughter all this time might have been the wrong thing to do.

“Let’s get her out of here!” I bark, deciding to address this when we’re back on our own turf.

“Chavez. I’ll be in touch soon. Thank you for keeping my little girl safe. I owe you,” I vow, patting his shoulder as I move past him, following my men out of this place.

“Where’d they go?” I climb on my bike, waiting for one of my men to answer me.

“Kidd was taking her to the clubhouse,” Dexter rumbles. I’m actually shocked he isn’t still at the clubhouse in his lair. He doesn’t like to leave the grounds, if at all possible.

“Thanks for coming brother,” I tell him as I fire up my bike and take off for the clubhouse.

As soon as I shut my bike off, I’m barreling through the doors but come up short when I find my daughter sitting in Kidd’s lap and him whispering to her.

I’m just about to storm over there and kick his ass when Kierra comes out of nowhere, latching onto my hand and dragging me down the hallway to my office.

“Kierra now is not the time. I need to handle some shit,” I grind out, trying to pull my hand free from her death grip.

“No. What you’re going to do is take a deep breath and listen to me first. I need you to trust me when I tell you that you need to wait for Sadie to bring this to you.

And she will. But if you go out there guns blazing and start yelling and making demands, you’re going to drive a wedge between you and your daughter.

She’s not a little girl anymore, babe, and you need to step back and give her room to spread her wings a little bit.

You’ve done an amazing job raising her, but you’ve also stunted some of her emotional growth.

When I took her shopping, she was a little insecure, which makes no sense considering how you are, but then I realized she’s been sheltered from a lot of the hurts the world dishes out.

Which is good but you need to give her this.

Kidd won’t hurt her, and you know it. So, take a breath, get your shit together, and give her the opportunity to come to you with this.

Can you do that?” Kierra begs. When I think about all she’s said, I know that she’s mostly right.

I need to give Sadie the chance to fall so she learns how to get back up again.

And while I always want my little girl to fly, I’m also always going to be right there to catch her if things go south.

“Yeah. I hear you. How’d you get so smart?” I pull her into my arms and breathing her in, try to let some of the tension from this whole fucking mess slide off my shoulders.

“My sister used to be really amazing before she became selfish and an addict.” Her voice is filled with sadness.

“Sorry, baby,” I apologize, kissing the crown of her head. “Let’s go upstairs, and I’ll make you feel better,” I suggest, dragging an already giggling Kierra behind me.
