Chapter Fourteen
KNOX
"You tired, baby?" I ask, holding the door for her and smirking when her cheeks turn the cutest shade of pink as she ducks under my arm.
My lips twitch cause I already know the answer.
"Yes." She sighs.
Yesterday had been a shitty day for us all, and she was dragging ass today.
Right off the bat, I'd gotten a call from Dex, informing me that Crystal and her boyfriend were in jail down in Texas.
G was just as pissed as I was. I'd asked her to sit down with me while I explained what was going on to my boys.
I had expected them to be crushed, but sadly, they didn't seem bothered.
I think that had a lot to do with G now being a part of their lives and how she was with them.
I owed her the world, something that I showed her repeatedly last night.
In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have kept her up into the early hours of the morning after the crying jag, but anytime the woman was within touching distance, I wanted her.
"We don't have to be here. We can go home if you want," I offer, smoothing my hand down her back. I know I'm wasting my breath because she's been adamant about catching up with Harley to make sure she's really okay with the new arrangements.
"No." She shakes her head.
"If you change your mind..." I'm going to leave the offer on the table in case she changes her mind.
"Oh good, Harley's already here." Lifting my head, I follow her line of sight.
Sure enough, Harley is sitting at the big round table next to Viper's booth with the rest of the girls.
Thank God. That was another issue we'd had to address yesterday — her apartment.
She's been upset about needing to give it up, but it's pointless to keep it when Harley and Wrath have already come to an agreement — something about her staying in his basement in exchange for helping out with his aunt.
It's a win-win for everyone, and even though I know she liked living with Harley, keeping the apartment was a waste of money.
"Go on over so you can see for yourself that she's fine." I laugh.
"Yeah." Dipping my head, I press my lips to hers and swat her on the ass when she takes off toward the girls. My eyes stay locked on her as I make my way to the bar, holding up two fingers to signal Easy I need a couple of drinks.
"Two?" he asks, popping the cap off a bottle of Miller.
"Yeah, and will you make one of those fruity things for G." His lips twitch. Easy was a bartender in another life, and ever since the girls found out, they've been testing his skills.
"Here's these." I grab the beers from his hand and nod when he tells me he'll take G her drink.
"You get her to calm the fuck down?" Wrath asks, nodding to G as I slide into the booth beside him.
"What's she upset about?" Sparrow and Viper ask at the same time. I lilt my head. More and more, they do shit in sync, just like their wives. It's fucking weird.
"Knox told her to let her apartment go since she's basically living with him, and Harley moved in with me.
It's stupid to hemorrhage money for nothing," Wrath supplies, taking a sip of his whiskey.
It really is a no-brainer. There's no reason to waste money on an apartment that nobody was staying in.
Plus, it's safer for both girls since we have no idea who or what is targeting the club.
Viper whips his head around, his eyes widening as he processes what Wrath just said. "Back the fuck up. Harley moved in with you?"
"Yeah, so?" Wrath says defensively.
"You think that's a good idea? She's a fucking teenage girl, Wrath." Viper growls.
Laughing humorlessly, Wrath slides out of the booth, tossing his empty in the trash. "You've gotta lot of room to fucking talk, Prez. How old's your wife again? And, not that it's any of your fucking business, but the girl has nobody." My brows furrow.
"He's got us all there." Sparrow laughs, shrugging his shoulders. I guess he does, although I've never thought of it that way. My brothers and their wives just fit.
Looking closely at my brothers, then over to the table the girls are seated around, I take each one of them in.
"Well, shit." Sure enough, looking at them now, they're all quite a bit younger than their other halves.
Sighing heavily, Viper holds up his hands in surrender. "Look. I'm sorry. It's just that she's Sadie's best friend. When I look at her, I still see a twelve-year-old kid, ya know?"
"I hear you, but I hate to break it to you, Prez. Them twelve-year-old kids are grown-ass women now."
"Fuck, I know. They'll be having babies before I know it." Viper closes his eyes like the thought physically pains him.
"Speaking of babies," Wrath asks as he sits back down and steals the other Miller I'd brought to the table.
"Twins, fucking twins." Viper shakes his head, takes a sip of his beer, then continues, "The babies are good, but my wife is a pain in the ass.
She's addicted to junk food, but that junk makes her sick every time she eats it.
I try to tell her, 'babe, don't eat the tacos and donuts 'cause they make you sick.
' What does she fucking do? Eats that shit non-stop.
" His hands go up in the air, and we all laugh.
Wrath and I both look over at the women and, low and behold, Kierra is eating tacos with a big smile on her face.
“She knows it's going to make her sick and is doing it anyway?” Wrath asks, pointing over at Kierra.
Tattletale.
“What?” Viper asks, turning his head. "Motherfucker," he growls, sliding out of the booth.
“He acts annoyed, but pretty sure he gets off on that shit,” Sparrow says thoughtfully, watching as Viper hauls Kierra out of her chair and lifts her up into his arms.
"Put me down, Draven! I wanted that," she shouts, holding onto his neck as he stomps up the steps.
“Fuck that.” Wrath laughs. I couldn't agree more.
"She did that on purpose," Sierra says, sliding in next to her husband.
"Here, baby," I say, pulling G into my lap before she can argue. "Thanks," she mumbles, taking my beer and drinking what's left.
"Why would she do that on purpose?" Wrath asks as he stands and motions for Harley to sit down. "Here, princess."
My eyes ping-pong back and forth between the two of them. G squeezes my hand, and when I look at her, she shakes her head.
What the fuck is going on?
I think Viper might have hit the nail on the head. Don't get me wrong, Wrath always has a soft spot for women, especially club women, but the way he's looking at Harley right now... something's clearly going on with him.
Sparrow laughs. "Isn't it obvious? They're fucking crazy — "
"and kinky," Sierra adds.
"and kinky." He rolls his eyes at Sierra. "That's their foreplay."
G throws her head back and laughs.
I love seeing her relaxed like this.
