Epilogue
KNOX
Six Weeks Later
Glancing over at Sparrow, I realize I miscalculated the man and honestly feel a little bad about it.
He glances over before turning his eyes back to the gravel path. "Stop staring at me. It's wigging me the fuck out."
My shoulders shrug. "Sorry. It's just that I've been thinking about things, and I need to get some stuff off my chest."
"Here we fucking go." He sighs dramatically.
My lips twitch. Sierra's right. He's a fucking drama queen.
"Just hear me out, VP. I owe you an apology, and I aim to give it."
"An apology? For fucking what?"
"A few months ago?" I start.
His head snaps around, his brows raised. "You're sorry about some shit from months ago?"
"Eyes on the road," I point out the windshield, "and yes.
Now let me finish. A few months ago, when Thorn and I were driving up this very road.
I thought you were fucking nuts for keeping that motherfucker that hurt Sierra alive as long as you did," I admit, turning in my seat to see into the bed of the truck.
I've kept this fucker alive for six weeks, drawing out every ounce of pain possible.
He hurt G for years and stole something she could never get back, and now he knows a fraction of how she felt.
"I'd give anything to bring that fucker back and kill him again," he growls, squeezing his hands tightly around the steering wheel. I can imagine. I didn't get it before, but now, having lived through a similar experience, I completely understand.
Which is why I asked Sparrow to come with me to Gatortown to rid the world of the scum in the back.
"G okay with all of this?"
My head tilts from side to side. Okay with this? That's a loaded question, seeing as she thinks I took care of things weeks ago when I handed her the signed divorce papers. "She doesn't care if he's dead if that's what you're asking."
"Good. How's she handling being pregnant?"
I laugh.
He already knows she's over the fucking moon about it.
Every chance she gets, she's dragging me or one of the boys to the baby store to look at stuff.
"Happy as a pig in shit. However, the twins are on the brink of planning a full-out revolt if she doesn't stop asking them to go shopping.
Braydon, on the other hand, has done a complete 180.
Ever since G's showdown at the school and what this fucker did right afterward, he's dubbed himself her protector. " Truth be told, I was just as happy.
"It still blows my mind she thought you were pissed off at her for throwing down with Braydon's principal..." he trails off, breaking into a shit-eating smile when he sees the new motor I built for just this occasion.
"Like it?" I ask, all my thoughts now solely focused on getting rid of Rick once and for all.
"Fuck yeah. Let's do this."
Clapping my hands together excitedly, I throw open my door and get on with taking care of business.
The End...
