Chapter Nine

Monday…

“I need you to take this.”

Liam frowned down at the phone in Dodger’s hand. “Why would I want your phone.”

“Because,” he whispered. “Please. Just take it.”

Liam looked worried as he reached for it.

Dodger jogged down the stairs of his Alpha’s house and strode right for his truck.

He threw it into drive and peeled out. He would be early to work, but that was the plan.

He needed to get there and get on the clock before the elementary school opened for the kids.

He needed to be at work and under the watchful eye of his boss before the pretty crossing guard showed up for her job.

He hadn’t slept again and he’d used up every ounce of mental strength trying to keep himself from unblocking Destiny and messaging her last night.

He couldn’t do this.

All he did was replay every word she’d said to him and wondered why the hell he couldn’t shut this off. He’d been on dates. He’d fucked women. He’d kissed them, so why was this little human buried so deeply into his soul? He couldn’t even remember who he was anymore.

Why was his wolf doing this to him?
