Chapter Twelve #2

“So, all of this because I’m human?” she asked, sitting down on the floor.

“No. Not all. I wouldn’t even want to bring a werewolf female into my Pack’s dynamics right now. We were attacked the other night.”

She frowned. “Is everyone okay?”

“They set fire to my Alpha’s house and destroyed one of the rooms of a cabin.” He scratched his cheek and looked at the carpet. “There were injuries.”

“Was anyone killed?” she asked.

“Not anyone from my Pack.” He looked at her like he was gauging her reaction.

And it dawned on her. “Was that why you kept checking your phone when we were out together? Your Pack was trying to get ahold of you?”

A single nod, and then, “I ignored my Pack’s messages. Ignored my Alpha’s call.”

“Why did they attack your people?” she asked, horrified.

“To punish us. Guess who they went after?”

“Your human?” she whispered.

“Our human. They went after her den and then destroyed a room on Delta’s home she shares with Nate. My home wasn’t touched. They targeted the females. They know that’s the way to hurt the Pack the most.”

“Oh my gosh,” she murmured, drawing her legs up as her mind raced. No wonder he hadn’t wanted to bring her into that.

“Do you need help? Do you need extra hands rebuilding? What can I do?”

“You can stay safe,” he said. “I’ve been going crazy thinking that could’ve been you.”

“Nory is her name, right? The human?” she asked, trying to remember all the things he’d said about his Pack by the food trucks last weekend.

“Yes.”

“Is Nory okay?”

He huffed a tired laugh. “She likes guns.”

A smile took her lips, and she pointed to her dresser, where her handgun was sitting in its purple camo holster. “Me too.”

“Yeah, well, she doesn’t know about silver bullets yet. Maybe you can teach her.”

Hope bloomed in her chest. “Are you saying I can meet her? I would be happy to show her. I have all the stuff to make them in my garage.”

He huffed a laugh and hung his head. “Of course you do.” He leaned forward, and she noticed it in his eyes. He was tired.

“Have you not been sleeping?”

He shook his head. Even the glow in his eyes was dull.

She stood and approached him slowly, and he reached for her, and closed the space between them.

He wrapped his arms heavily around her hips and rested his forehead between her breasts, then heaved a sigh.

His body seemed to relax by the second as he held her, and she pushed his beanie off his head, and ran her nails against his scalp.

A long moan escaped him, and he hugged her even tighter. His legs encased hers. Even sitting on the bed, he was nearly as tall as her and had to slump to rest his head against her chest.

“I take it back. I kind of like your muumuu,” he teased.

“Oh hush.”

“I’ll bring you some of my T-shirts,” he rumbled. “They’ll fit you the same.”

“What if I don’t want to wear your T-shirts?” she joked.

“Destiny.”

“Maybe some of my other boyfriends already gave me a pile of T-shirts. Maybe my garage is full of them.”

He growled and gripped her jawline gently, then pulled her lips to his.

He did that slow drink that had consumed her so completely the other night, and she found herself straddling his lap.

He was gentle. His touch was soft, and even when he slipped his hand up the fabric of her night gown, he was gentle when he played with her breasts.

Oh, she liked him. Already, she would do stupid things for this man.

He eased out of the kiss and searched her eyes. “You don’t have a lot of boyfriends,” he said in that gravelly voice that told her his wolf was getting ramped up. “You’re picky. It’s one of the things I like about you.”

“But you don’t want to like me,” she whispered, still a little stung by that part.

“For your own good. That’s all. You have to be okay. If I feel like this after so little time, it’s scary to think of you getting hurt.”

“You’re scared?”

He dipped his chin once. “I don’t get scared, Destiny. I don’t like this feeling.”

She allowed a slow smile and ran her fingers through his hair again and reveled in the way he rolled his eyes closed and relaxed under her touch.

A growl escaped him and he leaned up and kissed her, and then his hand was there, gripping her ass as she sat straddling him.

His touch moved to her front and Destiny gasped as he slid his hand easily into her unbuttoned jeans, and under her panties.

She gasped again and rolled her head back as he stroked her entrance gently.

“I’m going to make you forget you were angry with me,” he murmured as he pressed his lips to her throat. “I know you don’t have much time right now, but that’s okay. I’ll take care of you.”

The promise in his growly voice lifted a shiver up her spine, and inside of her, warmth spread through her middle.

Destiny allowed a helpless sound and rolled her hips forward, encouraging him.

With his free hand, he gripped the back of her hair and kissed her deeply, his tongue brushing against hers as he slid his finger inside of her to the knuckle.

“So wet already,” he whispered. “Good girl. You’re going to be so fun for me, aren’t you?”

Oh, she loved this. She’d read books about this, but no one had ever talked like this in her ear while she was revved up.

She rolled her hips and he slid his finger in and almost out of her, back in deep.

A few strokes more, and she was panting his name, her body tensing every time he went deep, and he pulled out and slid two fingers inside of her. The stretch was perfect.

“It’s…I’m…” She closed her eyes as he pressed his bite gently to the base of her throat. Her body clenched hard and a burst of pleasure consumed her. Destiny’s tight body gripped his fingers over and over as her orgasm convulsed through her middle.

“Oh God, that’s what it is going to feel like wrapped around my dick,” he gritted out.

Dodger flipped her around and her back was suddenly pressed against the mattress. “I have to cum on you,” he gritted out, his eyes glowing and wild. He unzipped his jeans in a rush and pulled his fingers from her, took himself in hand and started pumping his rock-hard cock.

In desperation, she pushed his shirt upward, and he yanked it off the rest of the way with his free hand and then pulled her jeans and panties down lower.

He was going to cum on her skin. He was going to mark her.

God, this was hot. He yanked her hand down to her sex and took her finger, and pressed it up inside of her, and then stroked himself again, slower. She could see all of his muscles rippling now. He had new scars on his left arm that was locked next to her face on the bed.

He was really going to cum on her.

Losing her mind completely, she whispered, “I’m on birth control.”

“Woman don’t tell me that. This isn’t how I want our first time to be.”

“Fuck. Me.”

He gritted his teeth and pulled her hand from where she was pleasuring herself, grabbed his cock and eased it to her entrance and pushed into her.

She cried out, arching against the mattress as he lost it. He bucked into her hard, his hips tight against hers as they collided over and over, and it was already happening again. She was there!

“Dodger, don’t stop!”

He gripped her hair in the back and slammed into her, held for a moment, then pulled back and slammed into her again, and she could feel it as her orgasm ripped through her. His dick swelled and pulsed, spraying jets of warmth into her as she cried out with mind bending pleasure.

He dragged every pulse of satisfaction from her body and then pushed her hair back from her face and searched her eyes.

She pursed her lips against a sated smile. “Whoops.”

A chuckle escaped him, and he hung his head, his forehead resting against her chest. “That was not what I planned.”

“It was perfect.”

He snorted. “It was fast.”

“Good, I’m in a hurry.”

He shook his head and eased up, pulled out of her gently, then lifted her hand to his lips, and pressed a kiss against her knuckles there. “Do you have any idea what you’ve done to my wolf now?”

“Made him addicted to me?” she guessed hopefully.

“If you had any chance of escaping my obsession before, it’s gone now,” he warned her.

He moved to leave, but she grabbed his hand and held him in place. “Dodger?”

“Yeah?”

Her heart was pounding so hard after what they’d just done together. “You won’t ghost me anymore, Dodger. Not ever again, do you hear me?”

The blinding blue glow was back in his eyes now, and he didn’t look tired anymore. “Or what?”

She leaned up and kissed him, then eased back again. “Or I won’t forgive you next time.”

“Truth,” he uttered.

“I really don’t play games. I don’t want to. Tell me where I stand and keep me confident in you. That’s how you can take care of me.”

A crooked, handsome smile took his lips. “I’ve never wanted to do that with anyone before.”

“Well don’t waste your second chance,” she teased, slipping off the edge of the bed. “I have to get ready.”

He watched her leave for the bathroom. “I’ll be right back,” she told him, excitement creating a small tremble in her voice. Before she disappeared completely, she turned back and pointed at him. “You’ve marked me well enough now. No more peeing on that poor tree.”

“Fine,” he muttered through a grin, and she giggled to herself as she shimmied her jeans up her hips and scrambled down the hallway. She didn’t have much time to get ready anymore, or she would be late for work.

In the bathroom, she saw herself in the mirror. She looked happy, and her eyes were bright, and her cheeks the color of pink rose petals. She couldn’t stop smiling. Her body was still buzzing with this humming sensation like it was the first time it had ever been satisfied.

She’d told him to fuck her, and he had.

That was the hottest thing ever. She was going to replay the loss of his control a hundred times before she wore this memory out. God, his face when he’d given into her and slid his cock inside of her.

Her smile was getting bigger. “Focus,” she whispered to herself. She was really going to be late!

When she was cleaned up and re-dressed in a new outfit, she heard him say from the kitchen, “I’m going to need you to really wear my T-shirts to bed now.”

“Why?” she asked innocently, knowing damn-well what the answer was already. It was a scent thing. It was a possessive thing. She liked the way he was. She liked that he wanted others to know she belonged to him. She liked that his wolf was territorial of her.

Her dad had always been like that with her mom, and she’d grown up appreciating it.

“Same reason I want your clothes in my den. I want my place to smell like you, and I want you to smell like me. I want every male around knowing your covered.”

“Covered, huh. That sounds very animalistic of you.”

“You’ll get used to that.”

She couldn’t stop smiling! She brushed her hair out quickly in her dresser mirror and scrambled out into the mouth of the living room, where she could see him setting up their breakfast.

“We did it.”

He belted out a laugh. “Yes we did. Again, that was not my plan. I was going to do some mushy human shit and light some candles or something. This one was your fault.”

“So, any time I want, if I just order you to fuck me, you will?”

“Absolutely.”

“This is awesome,” she said excitedly, sitting in one of the chairs at the table.

“Hey Destiny?” he asked, his tone somber once more.

It surprised her into seriousness. “Yes?”

“Did you cry?” he asked again.

She pursed her lips wanting to go back to the giddy side of their conversation. “I did. A lot. I really like you, and the cut-off hurt. I didn’t know what I had done wrong.”

He nodded and pulled her out of the chair by her hand. He pulled her straight into him and hugged her up tight. “I’m sorry.” He meant those words. She could tell.

Slowly, she wrapped her arms around him and buried her face against his chest. “Forgiven. I understand your reasons. You wanted to protect me. Just don’t leave me like that again. We are past it. I’m in this, okay? Don’t leave me.”

“I won’t. I can’t. I fucking quit trying to leave now. We do need to lay low for a few days though.”

“Hiding me away?”

“Yes. Hiding you from the new Pack. Just until we get things squared away.”

He’d said that with a strange tone to his voice, so she eased back down into the chair and asked, “What do you mean by squared away.”

“You don’t want to know.”

“I do. If we’re going to do this, I want to know what’s happening.”

He chewed the side of his lip and sat in the seat next to her. “We’re going to hurt them.”

“Wait,” she said. “You’re going to fight with them?”

“Yes.”

“But you could get hurt.”

“That’s not how we talk in the lead up to war. It’s bad luck.”

Oh. Her chest felt like there was a great weight on it as her mind raced. “Do you fight other Packs often?”

“No.”

“But why do you have to now?”

“They’ll keep coming if we don’t defend our territory. They’ll push us out. The response has to be strong. I wanted to go after them immediately, and so did Vic and Tabian. Liam wanted to wait. He tried to make contact with their Alpha for a truce, but it didn’t go well. So, we fight.”

“You’re saying this like it’s some simple thing.”

“War is simple. He who bleeds the most loses.”

She placed her hand on his thigh, but he winced.

“What happened to your leg?” she asked.

“A fight,” he answered.

“With who?”

“Nathan.”

“But…” she frowned. “He’s in your Pack. He’s Second, right?”

“Yep.”

“Then why did you fight him?”

“To make my wolf shut up.”

Oh, Dodger was complicated. Life wouldn’t be dull with him, that was for sure and for certain.

He lived by completely different rules than humans did, and she had much to learn. Her dad hadn’t talked about this kind of stuff. He’d sheltered her from his animal side.

She had asked for honesty, and Dodger was giving it to her. Destiny appreciated it, but she would also have to think about all of this and figure out how much of it she was okay with.

“Ready to run yet?” he asked as he pulled her chair closer to his.

He might be a monster at war, but he was gentle with her, and truthfully, she loved that contrast.

She reminded him, “I’m not a runner, remember?”

His smile was wicked and handsome in the gray dawn light that filtered through the window.

Simply he said, “We’ll see about that.”
