5. Chapter 5
Fylis
Burgess lets me grab a tea on the way out of the mall.
How kind of him. He drops me back at my house around three, ruining my schedule.
Setting my shopping bags aside, I pull out my lesson plans to prepare for next week.
This will calm my nerves. My eyes continue to dart to the clock.
Tick tock. Tick tock. Dread crashes over me like a violent sea, threatening to drown me.
Am I really about to go to some sex club to find release?
My stomach flips at the thought while my cock reminds me it’s not all as bad as I’m making it out to be. I can do this.
Once I’ve finished with lesson plans, I move my attention to other random tasks.
Tidying up my closet. Organizing the pantry.
Anything to keep my mind busy, distracted.
I lose track of the time until I’m pulled out of my thoughts by my phone ringing.
“Hello?” My tone sounding more irritated than I intend it to.
“Just making sure you aren’t chickening out.” Burgess. Must he taunt me all day, every day?
“Of course not. I was just-” I look at the clock and notice it’s eight p.m. I should be able to knock out the rest of my checklist. The black and red foil card glares at me from the counter, stirring something profound within me. I can do this.

Standing in front of the Whips End, folder in hand, my nerves gnaw at my insides. I could leave. Tell Burgess that the tea from the shopping center made me ill. I turn on my heels towards the lot, but run into a solid body.
“Woah! You weren’t thinking of bailing already, were you?” Burgess’s tone is serious, laced with a dash of humor. Almost a challenge. He knows I don’t back down easily. My body straightens as I step back out of his space.
“Of course not, I was looking to see if you were going to be late per usual.” Burgess flashes a knowing grin before grabbing the folder from my arms. “Careful with that!” I growl.
He flips through the documents, now serious.
“Everything looks in order. And look at that, ten years of medical history when you only needed five. Ever the overachiever, Fylis.” He slips a sheet of paper into it before I can snatch it back.
“Your invitation.” Handing it back to me, I place it under my arm, then adjust my shirt sleeves as the warm air, or maybe nerves, settles deeper into my skin.
“I wanted to be sure they had everything they needed.” My retort sounds weak, but Burgess pays no mind.
The large black door swings open as a large minotaur dressed in all black steps out. He begins taking names and letting people enter. I hand over my documents and invitation; the Minotaur looks them over and smirks. “Third door to your right.”
I repeat the instructions in my head before turning back to Burgess.
He nods, and I walk through the doors that will change my life.
Or ruin it. That’s still a probable outcome.
As I enter the club, dim glittering lights and sultry music set the mood.
The open space holds a bar, a stage, and a seating area.
Couples sit, sipping fancy drinks and conversing.
As I walk deeper inside, I start to notice more.
A man in a leather dog mask is on all fours, leashed and sitting politely by a stunning woman. That’s different.
Women dressed in tight latex dresses sit in a group.
A few succubus and other creatures among them.
A troll struts by wearing a leather harness, a whip at his side.
I quickly step out of his way and watch him approach a pixie.
She flutters around him, her mouth moves, but I can’t hear what she says over the music.
He suddenly drops to his knees before her.
Interesting. I glance over towards the bar and see Burgess ordering a drink, deciding it’s also a good idea to grab something to ease my nerves.
“You haven’t gone to your room yet?” He signals the bartender for another drink.
“Mistress Jade will not be happy if you’re late on your first night.
” Sweat drips from my forehead, but it’s not hot in here.
Burgess slides a shot across the bar to me.
“Drink this, then get your ass in that room and meet your Mistress.”
I toss back the blue liquid, and a wash of calmness washes over me.
Blinking twice, I look for Burgess, who is no longer sitting at the bar.
What did he give me? I stand, straightening my blazer, then walk towards the room I was assigned, the third door on the right.
As I approach it, a tingle spreads over my limbs.
Is she a succubus? A fairy? The door is tall and wrapped in red velvet, much like other parts of the club.
There’s no handle, though. How am I supposed to get in?
A small sign next to it states, ‘Knock three times before entering,’ so I do just that.
The door opens like magic. The room is covered in darkness.
No lighting anywhere. But when I cross the threshold, the door closes behind me.
Dim lighting flickers on, softly illuminating the space.
A four-poster bed sits in the middle, draped in transparent curtains.
Other tables and furniture are thoughtfully placed throughout the space.
A wall with different whips and what looks like torture devices makes my stomach flip. This was a bad idea. I can’t do this.
Panic engulfs me like a wildfire as I spin towards the door, my fists pounding on it as my throat tightens. The room spins, a clock ticking in the distance, faster and faster. Something warm touches my shoulder, bringing me out of the storm.
“Fylis. You are safe here.” A sweet voice, both soft and stern. I open my eyes and nearly gasp.
