3. Chopper
Chopper
I push through the door to Roxy’s home and stomp over to the couch. I drop onto it like a sack of potatoes and fold my arms over my chest. I'm so angry right now and yet I know this is stupid.
Why do I care what type of man Roxy goes after? At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much I love her. Porter’s made it clear his daughters are off limits to everyone in the club.
“You good?” Storm arches a brow.
He knows I'm in love with Roxy. He knows exactly how hard it is for me to keep my distance from her when all I want to do is pull her into my arms and claim her as mine.
Though Storm would never admit it, I'm fairly certain he feels the same way about Dixie. He always watches her a little closer and steps in a little faster when it concerns her. He’ll never make a move though.
He wouldn’t dare go against anything Porter says.
I'm sure the fourteen-year age gap is playing against him too.
But Roxy and I? We’re only two years apart. We grew up together. I’m the third generation in my family to be part of the Savage Wolves and if Roxy could join, she’d be the fourth generation. We know what this life is like and we love it.
If Roxy marries a man who isn’t part of the club, she’ll forever be in danger. There will always be a target on her back and if her husband has no club affiliation, he won't be able to protect her.
I could protect her. I’d burn the world down to protect her and we all know it. I don’t hide my protectiveness over her, nor do I really hide my feelings. Everyone knows I love her… but I haven’t made a move out of respect for Porter. And because I'm honestly not sure she’d say yes to dating me.
“No, I'm not good,” I growl, glaring at the door and waiting for her to come through. If she doesn’t get in here soon, I'll go find her and toss her over my shoulder all over again.
“Roxy?”
“Isn’t it always?”
“Choppy!” Oakley bounces into the room with a big smile on her face. She’s always happy to see me. She drops onto the seat next to me and wraps me in a tight hug.
Oakley might be one of the Reeves triplets, but none of them look like the others. She couldn’t be more polar opposite from Roxy if she tried.
Where Oakley has black hair and blue eyes, Dixie has blonde hair and honey-colored eyes, and Roxy’s rocking the sexy red hair with green eyes. It’s not only physical appearance where they differ. Their personalities couldn’t be further from each other either.
Dixie’s a people pleaser through and through. She’s sweet and caring, the exact opposite of what you would expect from the daughter of a motorcycle club president. She’s normally decked out in a sundress and strappy heels with her hair and makeup done to perfection.
Oakley’s chill and doesn’t really care about anything.
Every once in a while, something ticks her off, then you never know what to expect, but for the most part she goes with the flow and doesn’t cause issues.
She’s typically wearing jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt with sneakers. The picture of laidback.
Roxy… Roxy’s the biker princess through and through. She has a temper on her and she isn’t afraid to show it off to everyone who even looks at her wrong. She’s stronger than any woman I know and she doesn’t expect others to take care of her, she’s happy to do it herself.
The biker princess doesn’t stop there. She wears leather and lace almost every day.
She practically lives in leather pants with heeled boots.
I swear most of the time she’s wearing some sort of corset and a leather jacket too.
If you pair her outfit with her personality and her wild red hair, she looks like a woman you don’t want to mess with.
“Hey, Oaks. How are you doing, sweetheart?” I hug her back and kiss the top of her head. Oakley and Dixie have always been like sisters to me. However, I’ve never viewed Roxy as anything remotely close to a sister. I’ve always known she’s the woman I want by my side for the rest of my life.
“I'm ok. I can’t wait to graduate next month.”
“Oh, yeah? What are you going to do after you graduate?”
“Well, I was thinking about being a plumber.” She grins up at me.
“Please,” I chuckle, shaking my head. “You’d have to crawl under dirty spaces to fix things. Plus, the last thing you want to do is go into strangers’ homes to fix their plumbing. Pick something else.”
“But you get to be a plumber.” She sticks her bottom lip out in a pout.
“Yeah, and it isn’t always fun. How about you come to work with me some day and I’ll show you what it’s like?”
“Nah, I was just messing with you. Daddy said I can take over Savage Repairs.” She waves me off without a single care. “I think sitting in an office would be nicer than getting dirty. I’ll smell better too.” She wrinkles up her nose at me.
“Wow, Oaks!” I shake my head as Roxy walks in the door. Her gaze zeros in on my arm draped around Oakley’s shoulders and her eyes narrow just enough for me to notice before she schools her features. “I smell amazing. Just ask Roxy, she kept smelling me on our way home today.”
“I wasn’t smelling you, idiot.” Roxy rolls her eyes as she takes the spot next to me, it’s the only empty seat in the living room since Storm’s sitting in the chair.
“Oh, Chopper always smells good!” Dixie bounces into the room with a miniskirt on and perches on the armrest of Storm’s chair. I wish Roxy was always as happy to see me as Dixie and Oakley are. My life would be so much easier if that was the case.
His brows raise and his eyes go wide as he takes in her outfit. He looks her up and down before looking in my direction. I know what he’s asking. He wants to know if she wore that to school today. I shrug, unsure of how she dressed. I didn’t pick her up.
“Thanks, sweetheart.” I grin at Dixie as I wrap my free arm around Roxy’s shoulders and drag her closer to me. She mumbles something under her breath and I'm sure it’s some rude comment, but I ignore her.
Roxy’s hard personality doesn’t bother me in the least. Yes, most of the time she’s as loving as a cactus, but I’ve seen the soft sides as well.
I’ve been there to pick up the pieces when everything is falling apart.
I’ve seen the woman behind this tough mask she presents to the world.
And the woman she hides? Man, is she perfect. She’s everything I’ve ever wanted.
“Little Fox, did you wear that to school today?” Storm watches Dixie carefully.
She fidgets under his inspection, but she keeps her head held high and doesn’t hide from him. They were taught to be afraid of no one. Even though Oakley and Dixie aren’t as tough as Roxy, they still have a backbone stronger than most.
“Why does it matter what I wore to school?”
“Because if you wore this miniskirt, you’re going to be in trouble,” Storm growls.
“You’re not our dad, Stormy,” Oakley singsongs, knowing it will grate on Storm’s nerves, especially with that nickname. He hates it.
“What does that matter? I'm a man and I know without a doubt every little boy in your school would be staring at her with bad thoughts running through their head if she was wearing this.”
“I got changed when I got home,” Dixie whispers as tears fill her eyes. She jumps off the armrest and practically sprints into her bedroom. She slams the door making Storm wince.
“Nice job, slick. She was trying to look cute and get your attention.” Oakley rises from the couch and pats Storm on the shoulder as she heads to the door Dixie disappeared behind.
“You can’t really be that dense, Storm.” Roxy rolls her eyes and follows Oakley.
As soon as the door shuts behind them, Storm blows out a frustrated breath. He runs a rough hand through his hair and looks like he’s about to lose it.
“How am I the one in trouble for this? Little Fox shouldn’t dress like that.”
“Why not? All the biker bunnies dress worse than that and you never say a word.” I grin, knowing exactly why he doesn’t want her revealing so much skin.
“And they know exactly what they’re doing when they put on a miniskirt. It’s all to get people’s attention.”
“How is that different from what Dixie’s doing? She’s trying to get your attention.”
Though Storm’s twelve years older than me, he took me under his wing as soon as he became the vice president. I consider him my closest friend and one of the few people I trust in the world. That doesn’t mean I'm not going to bust his chops for being so oblivious to Dixie’s crush on him.
I swear she’s had heart eyes for him for as long as I can remember.
Storm joined the club around when the girls were starting first grade.
Dixie was instantly attached to his side and wanted to hold his hand wherever they went.
Lucky for her, Storm had the job of watching the girls and me more often than not.
Most club members would’ve seen that as a punishment, but Storm saw it as an honor. He knew how important the triplets were to Porter and he was proud that Porter trusted him so much with the most valuable things in his world.
“She doesn’t want my attention,” Storm whispers as he shakes his head.
“Oh, please. That girl has been trying to get your attention almost her entire life.” I roll my eyes. In a way, I hate how he keeps ignoring Dixie’s crush. I don’t think it’s going away any time soon and pretending she’s not flirting is just making her think she needs to try harder.
“I can’t touch Little Fox and you know it,” he hisses, glancing over his shoulder at Dixie’s door.
“Would you if you could?” I arch a brow.
“I'm not stupid enough to answer that question.” This time it’s Storm that rolls his eyes.
“Why do you call her Little Fox? You never tell anyone when they ask.”
A soft smile spreads across Storm’s lips as he leans forward so his elbows are resting on his knees. His gaze is locked on his hands and I think he’s going to ignore my question like he normally does, but he surprises me.
“Think about the personality traits of a fox. They’re clever, resourceful, observant, adaptable, resilient, cunning, strategic, and quick problem solvers. That sounds an awful lot like Dixie.”
“Foxes are also playful and adorable.”
“Like I said, just like Dixie.”
“What about the other two? What are their spirit animals?” I grin. I can’t wait to see what he says about them.
“Roxy’s a honey badger. She’s fearless, relentless, and aggressive.”
I let my head fall back and my deep laughter fills the room. I can see that for my girl. She’s crazy and I love it.
“Oakley… I'm not sure.” Storm scratches his jaw. His beard is starting to come in thick. I wonder how long he’ll keep it for.
The old timers keep telling us we need to grow long, thick beards if we’re going to be in a motorcycle club.
Apparently, we’re ruining the image of the Savage Wolves by looking too young.
“Oakley would be a tiger. She’s bold, confident, energetic, and determined.”
“Yeah, I can see that.” Storm grins as he sits back in his seat again. “How long do you think I have before one of them comes out here to yell at me for being a jerk?”
“Eh, Roxy’s been in a mood since I picked her up. There’s no way she’ll hold her tongue for long… but they know we’re staying here until Porter comes home tomorrow. My guess is they’re taking their time. They probably won't come out of that room until dinner’s here.”
“Well, how do you feel about Mexican food? I need something Dixie loves to get back in her good graces.”
