Chapter 5 #3

I swerved, moving past the motel and headed toward the one place I swore I’d never return to.

Savage

Viper and I were welcomed through the gates of the Destructive Sons MC easily. He was expecting us, which had me on edge already. Viper didn’t like this any more than I did but we had to do something in the interim or we’d run out of money, and the town would turn on us yet again.

Getting off our bikes, we moved together through the compound and toward the front door of the clubhouse.

Eyes were on us everywhere but no one made a move to greet us.

Someone caught my eye from the corner of the room, but I couldn’t place where I’d seen him before.

Definitely not as part of this club, that was for sure.

I didn’t have time to figure it out before we were led silently toward the chapel.

“Ah!” Alasdair said, as he caught sight of us coming into the room. He’d been mid conversation. I looked over just as Viper tensed slightly. My breath caught when I looked at the one person I didn’t think I would see here.

Shona.

Her eyes widened before she looked back at Alasdair. His eyes looked from her to us and back again, before his smile widened.

Shit. I didn’t like it when our enemies had the upper hand.

What the fuck was she doing here?

“Didn’t think a man of your repute would allow a woman in here, Alasdair,” Viper said. I was still lost for words. Why the fuck would she be associated with this MC of all MC’s? They were known to treat their women like shit.

“Do you know each other?” Alasdair asked me. “You seemed surprised to see my daughter in here.”

Daughter?

I didn’t allow my surprise to show as I shifted my shoulders into a shrug. “Chapel is sacred. Women shouldn’t be in here, is all. You can run your chapel how you please.”

Alasdair looked like the cat that got the cream, and I couldn’t help but wonder if he knew she was associated with us. Why the hell didn’t I know she was his goddamn daughter?

“He’s right, darlin’, off you go. We’ll talk later.”

She moved out of the room and closed the door behind her. My chest was tight, and my heart hammered so loudly that I could scarcely hear over the blood rushing through my veins.

“Let’s get down to it.”

We sat at the end of the table. Viper took the lead, probably reading that my head was very much not in the game right now.

“We come asking for a pact to be made,” Viper began. “Our guns aren’t making it past the border. We want to have our guns ferried through to Dublin, where we can take possession of them. In return, we can help you with your routes from Dublin through to Limerick.”

“An intriguing premise, but we have no issues running our drugs at present.”

“Not yet, but you’re encroaching on the O’s territory,” Viper added. “Which means you will run into problems eventually. It’s not like they don’t know what you’re doing, Alasdair. We happen to be on good terms with them, and we can work something out for you.”

“And the Kings are fine with us using Dublin?” he asked.

“They are flexible to our agreements, yes,” Viper told him.

“You’ve mended the bridge between the Kings of Dublin and the O’Farrell’s. That’s not an easy task. I have to give you credit for that.”

“They’re men who appreciate loyalty,” I told him.

“And the Ghost Rebels are nothing, if not loyal.”

It was meant to be a dig, possibly to incite us into duking it out, but Viper had already told me what was at stake. Seeing Shona had shaken me to my core, and to learn who she was had been worse, but I was still here for my club and I would do my job.

“What do you say?” Viper pushed. “Put it to your club. We’ll stay in town. Call us when you want to discuss it.”

“No need,” Alasdair waved his hand in the air. “This isn’t a democracy. My men do as I say, when I say. We have a deal. We’ll aid in your guns, and you will run the drugs through for us from Dublin.”

“No, you will run that yourself,” I spat. “We will help with passage.”

Alasdair smirked. “Savage, isn’t it?”

I dipped my head to signal that I was.

“I’ve heard of your reputation for violence,” he said. “It’s quite the reputation.”

“Your point?” I asked. Alasdair had quite the reputation himself, and it wasn’t in any light I’d want around our club or Shona. Fuck her being his daughter. I didn’t want her anywhere near this asshole.

“No point, a mere understanding that I respect that kind of attitude,” he said. “It would be handy to have someone of your…persuasion to have on hand should I need it.”

“I’m loyal to the Rebels,” I said, holding my sneer back.

“It’s always good to keep your options open,” he said with a smile that made me want to launch across the table and punch him.

“We good?”

“Make sure you guys head out of town fast,” Alasdair said. “I don’t want my friends to think I’m consorting with rival MCs.”

We both stood and left the room. As I walked out, I saw the guy I semi recognised talking to Shona, and wondered how I knew him.

She caught my eye and offered a small smile.

That smile did things to my chest that I wasn’t sure about.

I’d hated her and now all I wanted to do was throw her over my shoulder, put her on the back of my bike and ride out of Belfast before anything bad could happen.

I turned my head without giving her a response and headed outside with Viper. My heart was beating painfully hard in my chest.

We got to our bikes and shared one of our looks that said we needed to talk outside the compound walls. The guy from inside the clubhouse came down to us, running to catch up with us.

“Wait up,” I said to Viper.

“You guys know Shona, don’t you?” he asked us. My chest tightened. If he told me he was her new man, I was going to absolutely kill him. I wouldn’t care about the pact, I would stab him to death where he stood.

“We do.”

“Do you love her?” he asked, aiming his question at me. I could feel the rage building. Viper, sensing my shifting anger, put his hand on my chest.

“Him more than me, but yes.”

He looked at me. “Look, if you love her, you need to take her away from here. She’s not safe.”

“What are you talking about? She came here. That’s her dad, isn’t it?”

“She hasn’t told you about her past then?

” he asked. I hated shaking my head. I hated that this was a secret between us.

I’d told her shit I never told anyone. “Of course she hasn’t.

Fuck…she’s always been so fucking secretive, even when we were kids.

Look, she only barely survived last time, and only because she ran off with Zach.

If you truly want her to live, or be happy, or whatever it is she is to you, I need you to take her with you. ”

“Why?” I asked.

“The last time she was here, she was on the verge of being given to one of my father’s enforcers. It was to ensure his loyalty. Before that, he had been auctioning off her virginity…she was fourteen, by the way. She’s not safe, no matter what she thinks. You have to take her.”

My blood was boiling. “Why would she come back here?”

“Our little sister, Darby, called her. I can handle her, I’m working on getting her away, but Shona, she said she will take her place. I can’t watch both of them.”

“He will kill you for telling us this,” Viper said.

“I’ve always had a death wish, being born to this family,” he shrugged. “As long as my sisters are safe, I honestly don’t care.”

“How? This place is full of people. How can we get to her?” I asked him.

“I’ll take you around back as if I’m making a deal with you,” he said. “They won’t suspect a thing. You sneak in the back door and go to the room she’s in. Make sure she doesn’t argue. Eyes will be on her.”

“How exactly do you think I can do that?” I spat. "You know what she’s like, clearly.”

He smirked. “I daresay you know a way to silence her.”

I nodded quickly and got off my bike. Her safety was paramount.

We walked behind him to the side of the clubhouse.

There were eyes on us, but the guy didn’t seem to care.

He pulled out a package from his pocket and pulled us further down the side and out of sight.

He motioned for the door near us and Viper stayed with him to conduct the “deal”.

This could be a trap but I saw the way he was pleading with me with those identical eyes that Shona had.

I’d never met him, but he looked familiar because of those eyes.

I snuck up to the clubhouse and opened the door, heading down a hallway to the third door which he’d told me she would be behind. The door was unlocked - nothing new there - and I snuck in, closing it behind me.

Turning, I looked over at Shona aiming a pistol at my face. She lowered it, and I saw her hand shake as she held it at her side.

“You’re still here,” she said. “What are you doing with my Dad? You can’t get into business with him. He’s a bad guy, Savage.”

I closed the distance between us, wanting to pull her to me and tell her I was mad that she hadn’t told me who she was or where she was going, or even why, but we didn’t have time.

“You need to come with me.”

“What? Savage, I can’t. I wish I could explain why.”

“Your brother told me.”

“Fucking Keefe. He knows why I came here. I have to-”

“Your sister, right?”

She closed her eyes, and I saw the tear streak down her cheek. I moved my hand up to wipe it away with my thumb and pulled her into my body, holding her. She hugged me back tighter than I expected.

“You can tell me fucking everything once we’re clear of here, okay? You come with me now, and we go somewhere. You tell me everything; what you need, who you need killed and I will fucking do it. You know I would.”

“Savage-”

“Shona. I’m not leaving without you.”

I pulled her back and kissed her hard. She moaned into my mouth and even though we were in danger here, my dick hardened against my pants. I moved my head against her forehead. “I’m not accepting no. If you put up a fight, I will knock you out and throw you over my shoulder.”

She chuckled through a sob. “Okay.”

Taking her hand, I moved out of the room, keeping my eyes peeled and headed out the back way where Keefe and Viper were. Keefe took off his jumper and threw it to Shona.

“Put that on, walk like you’re just leaving with them, cover your hair, don’t act like you.”

Shona threw her middle finger up at him before she pulled the jumper on. I hid the smirk at her attitude and sandwiched her between me and Viper, walking confidently to our bikes. If they wondered why we were here, they would think we made a drug deal. Nothing suspicious at all.

The sooner we rode out of here, the better.

Keefe made his way with us and headed over to the gate.

He was distracting them while I got her on the back of my bike and we took off, faster than we could say goodbye.

We were in danger the longer we stayed in Belfast. Her arms wrapped around me tight, and I had to will my dick to calm the fuck down.

She’d only ever been on my bike once before, but now…things were different. The back of my bike was her seat. Maybe it always had been.

We were nowhere near safe yet, and her safety was my number one priority.

We rode until we got to Dublin and Viper motioned for us to turn off. When we pulled up on the side of a busy street, Viper came over to us.

“You guys need to head back to Kilkenny. Ride until you get there. I’ll head over to Eamon’s and let him know what’s going on. I have a feeling this is going to go sideways, and quickly.”

“This is my fault.”

Viper shook his head. “No, this was always going to happen. Personally, I never wanted to get in with Alasdair, but he’s holding our shipments hostage.”

“Got it,” I said, not wanting to linger. “Meet you back there tomorrow.”

Viper nodded and headed back to his bike. I started up my bike again and we tore out of Dublin and down to Kilkenny. I needed her safe and in my bed, telling me absolutely fucking everything before we came up with a plan to fuck over her old man and get her sister to safety.
