16. Rosalie

ROSALIE

“So no yelling. No going in guns blazing,” Levin said as he drove me to the guys’ place.

I said nothing because there was no promise I could make. The fact that Enzo went so far as to threaten Evan was enough for me. I wasn’t the same broken girl he used to know. I meant business when it came to my family.

Levin pulled up to the high-rise where Enzo and the guys lived. I grabbed the door handle, but Levin clutched my forearm.

“Rosalie. Listen,” he said.

I stared at him impatiently.

“Be calm, OK? I don’t know what headspace Enzo is in. He’s a dangerous man.”

“He will be a dead man if he fucks with my family,” I said, jerking away from him.

Levin sighed. “I’m going with you.”

“You’re not—”

“Believe it or not, I care about my old man these days. If something happens to you, I’ll never be able to forgive myself. Seeing him happy sort of did something to me, OK? So I’m going with you. I’ll wait outside, but I’ll still be there if you need me. That’s non-negotiable.”

“Whatever,” I muttered, pushing the door open and getting out. I’d tucked my hair beneath my hoodie and had my sunglasses on.

Levin followed me into the high-rise, where the doorman greeted us with a smile since he clearly had been given clearance to let us up. I figured it had more to do with Levin than me since he didn’t know who the hell I was.

Levin nodded at him, offered a quick smile, and led me to the elevator.

“Please be cool,” Levin said as the elevator doors opened and we stepped inside. “Enzo has guards outside his doors. You know that. So no yelling or you won’t get in.”

I grunted, not giving a shit about his security and guards.

“Rosalie—”

“I know, Levin,” I snapped at him.

“No. Please. For my dad, OK?”

I looked over at him to see the worry on his face.

“I’ll be good,” I said softly, knowing damn well I’d fight tooth and nail for my family, even if it were against the horsemen.

He hesitated for a moment before he nodded. The doors opened on the top floor, and we stepped out.

“Hey, Dmitri,” Levin said as the big guard got to his feet and approached us. “Just here to see Enzo and the guys. Is he in?”

“He is. He said no visitors today, though.” Dmitri eyed me.

I rolled my eyes behind my sunglasses and moved past him and pounded on the door before he could stop me. I even hit the buzzer twice to get my point across.

“Hey,” Dmitri shouted. “Rosalie—”

The door opened, and Enzo stood staring at me.

Anger surged through me, and I drew Klaus’s gun I’d taken and pressed it to Enzo’s forehead.

“I heard you’re a little pissed,” I said softly. “I guess that makes two of us.”
