34. Cole
COLE
Istared glumly out my bedroom windows to the city below. Enzo had left on a business trip. I wasn’t even sure where the fuck he went, only that it was urgent and E said he’d left earlier in the morning.
I didn’t give a fuck.
I didn’t seem to give a fuck about much lately.
I thought I had everything, but then that shit went to hell. Now, I was just some lonely, moping piece of fuck, staring out his window like I was in a music video about broken hearts.
It had been raining all damn day. I hated it when it rained. When Rosalie was with us all those years ago, a rainy day meant cuddling with her in bed. Hot chocolate. Movies. Making love.
I shook the old memories out of my head.
Everything was so fucked.
I missed her. I missed Ellis. But I was terrified to admit to her what I’d done. Maybe because right now I’d put myself into limbo, and I wasn’t here nor there. I both had Rosalie and didn’t have her.
And if I told her what happened, then it would sway to the side I really didn’t fucking want it to go.
I loved her. I only wanted her and our family.
Fuck.
I didn’t know how to fix this shit.
My fear told me I couldn’t. Not after she’d been so hurt after thinking we’d cheated on her before.
Fucking damnit.
I continued to stare as lightning streaked across the sky and the rain pounded down. It was a hell of a storm.
A soft knock sounded on my door.
Fucking E had been trying to talk to me and cheer me up forever now, and I was sick of telling him to leave me alone. I knew he meant well, but fuck, man.
Another knock. And another.
I closed my eyes and rested my head against the window. Usually, if I didn’t answer, E would give up and wander away.
I heard the door click open. I didn’t bother opening my eyes. Instead, I let a tear trickle down my cheek as I thought about my Rosebud and our kids.
Our kids.
Fuck.
I needed her.
I opened my eyes a moment later to find myself staring into the prettiest, most vibrant green eyes.
“Rosebud?” I choked out, reaching for her. “Baby?”
“Hey,” she whispered.
“Y-You’re here?”
“I’m here.”
I pushed away from the window and dragged her against me, rocking her in my arms as I held her tightly. I couldn’t stop the little sob that escaped me. I didn’t like being a little pussy bitch, but fuck it. It had been a rough five years.
“I have to tell you—” I started, but she silenced me with a soft, sweet kiss.
“I already know about Enzo,” she whispered against my lips. “It changes nothing.”
My heart tripped in my chest at her words.
“What?” I stared down at her, afraid I was dreaming.
“Enzo came to California. He told me everything. I’m not angry about it. I’m angry that you didn’t trust me enough to tell me—”
“Fuck, Rosalie, no.” I crushed my lips against hers. “It’s not like that, baby. I was ashamed. I’m sorry. I was scared of losing you.”
“It’s the same thing, Cole—”
“Fuck. I’m sorry. I’m still an idiot. I love you. I fucking love you. Marry me. Please. Rosalie. Fucking marry me.” My breath came out in soft gasps.
“Cole—”
“Don’t keep telling me no, Rosebud. Fuck. Please.”
She reached out and cradled my face tenderly. “Let’s wait, OK? I love you, but I want to wait. Please. Give this to me, and I promise it’ll be worth it.”
I kissed the tips of her fingers. “OK.”
Her lips twitched in the corners, making me smile a little too.
“I’m trying,” I murmured. “I am.”
“I know.”
I pressed my lips to hers for a moment before lifting her into my arms and carrying her to my bed.
“Did you bring Ass Hat?”
“Anson,” she corrected between kisses. “And no. He’s home.”
“Damn. I actually enjoy fucking you with him.”
She laughed softly against my lips. “Evan will be here in a few days. Maybe if you’re a good boy, he’ll watch you fuck me.”
“Dirty fucking girl.” I nipped her bottom lip, my heart jumping at the prospect of having her with Fox—Evan—again.
God, that would be a hell of a reunion. I’d definitely be on board for that.
“You and Enzo got along OK?”
“Yes.” She kissed me as I placed her on the mattress and climbed on so I was over her, my hard cock against her pussy. I ran my hand up her bare thigh beneath her skirt before I got to her panties. I gave them a gentle tug, and she helped me get them off her body.
“You’re confident,” she said with a little laugh as I undressed her before undressing myself.
“I know what I want,” I murmured, kissing her again. She smiled against my lips. “I’m sorry if I hurt you. I love you and was scared.”
She raked her fingers through my hair. I practically purred.
“I know. Just promise you’ll talk to me. If we aren’t going to communicate, then this won’t work.”
“I know.” I kissed her again. “Fuck, baby.”
We made out some more, my hands all over her body until I kissed my way down her throat and across her breasts.
I stopped at her belly and swallowed hard.
“I love you, too, my little peanut,” I murmured to our unborn baby nestled gently inside her. “I will take care of you always.” I placed a soft kiss where I knew our baby was growing before I went lower and ran my tongue up her pussy.
I groaned. Fuck, it had been way too long.
I dove in, eating her amid her soft moans, her fingers tangled in my hair.
Her thighs clamped around my head as her back arched off the bed, her orgasm overtaking her as I sucked her clit.
“Oh god. Cole,” she cried out. “Fuck. Oh my god.”
I finished her off and came up grinning like a maniac, my lips and chin wet from her release.
“You come so prettily,” I murmured, kissing her again.
“Mm,” she moaned, jutting her hips up to meet my cock.
“You want me, baby?”
“Please.”
I chuckled softly before taking hold of my dick and guiding it into her pussy.
“Your wish is my command.” I let out a groan as I filled her. It was really her nails in my back that made it that much more satisfying as I sank deep into her body.
Typically, I’d take my girl to Poundtown, but I wanted this to be slow.
So I kissed her sweetly, slowly moving in and out of her.
“You’re making love to me,” she murmured as I stared down, completely head over heels for her.
“I am,” I replied softly. “I love you, Rosebud. You’re everything to me.”
She smiled and pulled me closer. “I love you, too.”
And that was it.
I continued working her pussy over until she was coming for me. Just me and her.
I’d never experienced anything so fucking perfect in my life.
I woke to Rosalie naked and asleep in my arms. I grinned like a fool, deciding I needed to make her breakfast before I buried myself in her again.
Gently, I got out of bed, pulled on a pair of boxers and pajama bottoms, and went downstairs to find Enzo already in the kitchen with E. Laz sat at the kitchen island.
“Hey, bud,” I greeted him.
He said nothing, his green eyes focused on me. I didn’t like this silence shit. E said he booked a therapist for it, but I wasn’t seeing much in the way of improvement.
“Sounded like you had a good night,” E said, smirking at me.
“The best night of my life,” I replied, grinning. I went to the fridge and frowned. “We have… nothing.”
“We have yogurt and an egg,” E said.
I sighed and closed the fridge door. Laz sat, eating his dinosaur cereal, an empty milk carton beside him.
“Order in,” Enzo muttered, moving past me. I watched him head in the direction of his office, so I darted off after him.
“Hey,” I called out once we were inside.
“What?” He settled behind his desk and turned on his computer.
“About Rosalie… Thank you, man. I don’t know how I could ever repay you.”
He waved me off. “Just be happy. Don’t fuck anything up. That’s all I want.”
I studied him, noting he was withdrawn.
“I don’t hate you, Enzo,” I murmured, going to him. “You’re my best friend.”
“You’re mine, too,” he said, giving me a sad smile. “You and E.”
I nodded. “I just… I love her, you know? I know I’m too attached and can be a pain in the ass, but she’s it for me. I have this chance I’ve always wanted. The last thing I want to do is hurt you… And I know you’re hurting.”
“Cole, I’ll be OK,” he said. “I promise.”
I shook my head. “I don’t accept that. You want her.”
“I’m OK,” he repeated.
“Enzo.”
“Cole.”
“Stop being such a stubborn asshole. She said you guys got along on the flight back.”
“If you mean got along because she put on a headset and sleeping mask and we didn’t speak the entire time, then yes. We got along.”
I frowned. “No talking at all?”
“None.” He shook his head. “But I went there for you. Not for me. I’m good with it, man. I promise. Go get your girl some breakfast. Get that baby big and strong, and keep your family safe. If you do those things, it’ll make me happy.”
I hesitated for a moment before I went to my knees next to his office chair.
“Enzo?”
“Yeah?”
“Is there hope for you and her?”
He stopped rifling through the papers on his desk and sighed.
“I don’t know, Cole. I’m just… I don’t know.”
“Will you try?”
He was quiet for a moment. “I don’t know how.”
I frowned. “Just be nice to her.”
He nodded. “I can do that.”
“And then kiss her,” I said softly.
He let out a sad laugh. “I’m pretty sure she might shoot me if I do that.”
“Well, I kidnapped her and she didn’t shoot me. I think you’ll be OK.”
He gave me another sad smile.
“Do you even want to try?”
“I… I don’t know. I guess, but I know I’m not in any position to come at her. I fucking married someone else when I was supposed to marry her.”
“And you told her at Church’s you wanted her,” I pointed out, desperate to make this happen. I knew E would have no problem doing it. It was Enzo who would be the battle.
“Cole, man, just go take care of your girl and stop worrying about me—”
“This is going to happen,” I said, getting to my feet. “You and her. Us. The horsemen with… her guys. I promise you that.”
He gave me a tiny smile that didn’t look so forced.
“We’ll see, brother.”
Indeed, we would.
